A Sad Occasion for a Card

I received a call from my best friend asking me to make her a sympathy card. Her DH works with a single mom who lost her 10-yr old son in a freak bicycle accident over the weekend. It was difficult to make this card knowing the circumstances, but I added some bashful blue to the card since it was for a boy's mother. The flowers are from Technique Tuesday, stamped with CTMH gray wool, cut out and clear embossed. then popped up on foam squares. I added some Martha Stewart pearls and a diecut with a Sizzix swirl. The blue and white panels were done with the Nestabilities 10 labels, and the background was done with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. The sentiment is by MFS, also stamped with CTMH grey wool. The Bow-Easy was used to create the bow and the ribbon is SU's bashful blue.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to hug your loved ones tight!

Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #32

Here's the sketch from the OWH stars and stamps blog for challenge #32. It got really hot again in PA, so I'm hibernating indoors where it's cool and stamping a few cards for my next OWH box. This sketch enabled me to use scraps which I always love. I love the little SU! embosslit for these butterflies, but there are always a lot left over, so I'm putting some of them to use on the cards I've made today.
This one was accented with teal card stock and a Tim Holtz texture fades embossing folder. Sentiment is from MFP. (Mark's Finest Papers)
For this one I used a scrap of lavender and a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Sentiment by MFP.
For this one I used a scrap of PTI dp and a different sentiment from MFP. I added a few antennae and some tails with a black marker.
Quick and easy cards, and I always love when I can dig into my huge stash of scraps and die cuts!
Stay cool, see ya soon!

Just for Fun

I made this card for the Just for Fun color challenge #26 which was suspended for reasons unknown, so I thought I'd post it since I already made it. The colors were red, olive and yellow. I used some Cottage Wall dp, olive and red card stock for this one. The apple stamp is from the SU Tart and Tangy set, and I added some glossy accents to the apple for a little glitz. The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday set, and the leaf was made from a MS punch. Other punches used were the SU scalloped border, fancy label, word window, scalloped and circle punches. Ribbon is so saffron by SU!
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! Thanks for spending a little of your day with me.

MFP Speedy the Cat's Friends#18

Here's a card I made for the Speedy the Cat's Friends #18 challenge which is to create a friendship card. I used my Marks Finest Paper "Owl be Here" set for the sentiment and used an assortment of scraps to make the card. I've been hoarding a few select sheets of long-retired SU! card stock and decided today was the day to start using them. I think the base I used for this is called True Thyme. I love it, and used most of it with the Marigold that was sold in the same IN color pack way back when. It looks just right for Autumn colors, so I'm learning to let go and actually USE the things I've been hoarding for so long. Now to break into those precious packs of Apple Cider and Afternoon Tea DP one day soon. *sigh*
Anyhoooo (pun intended) I used the SU! owl punch for this and made him out of scraps. The leaves were done with a MS punch and I used an embossing stencil to create the veins. The rest is pretty easy peasy.
On to the kitchen to start preparing dinner! Have yourselves a fabulous weekend, ya hear?!

Some lattice work for a Queen

Here's a pretty basic card I cased from the gallery of Peggy-Sue, the newest stamper to be crowned QFTD24 on SCS. I chose this card from her gallery and patterned my card after it, but made a few changes along the way. I also created the recessed diamonds background so I could use this card in the Crazy4Challenges#52 this week where we're to create some sort of lattice work on our cards. I don't have any of those fancy punches, so I grabbed my trusty ole Scor-Pal and created my own lattice work in the background. This is an easy card to make, and will go through the mail with no extra postage, so that's always a plus for me!
I'll have more a little later, so stay tuned and thanks for poppin' in today :)

Stampin' B's and Stars & Stripes

Here's my take on the Stampin'B's Challenge #73 which is to make a square card with a western theme. No problem now that I have this great Southwest Cowboy stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers! I love, love, LOVE this set! This card is done in teal, chocolate and rustic cream card stocks. I stamped the background with a retired SU! flannel plaid background using Toffee ink. The main image is embossed with brown ep and popped up on foam tape. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll be glad to answer you.
This card was made for the Stars and Stamps mid-week throwdown challenge which is a recipe to use a diecut or punch, ribbon, and embossing. I started with a PTI enchanted evening card stock base, and added an embossed panel using the CB snowflakes ef. I created the large star with SU!'s large and small tag punches, and added a scrap of DP for the center. I added 2 SU felt snowflakes in the center along with a snowflake brad. The word JOY is die cut with my Quikutz from some scraps of enchanted evening and glued down right over the ribbon.
We're having a spectacular day in PA today! If only every day could be this gorgeous!!! I wish you all a gorgeous day too! Thanks for stopping by :)

CTD107

I've had this stamped RAK in my pile for much too long, so today was the time to color it and use it for the CTD#107. Michelle from StampersDream.com sent it to me and it's by Northwoods. {thanks Michelle} I colored it with Tombows to reflect the colors of the challenge, and then matted it with all the required colors, using a Fiskars border punch. I added stickles to the flower centers for a little sparkle and interest.
I hope your Wednesday is going well!

Comment Moderation

I'm sorry to have to announce this, but I've been forced to turn word verification on again after being hit with spam. It makes life easier when you don't have to type in all those silly words just to leave a comment, but I have no choice but to play it on the safe side. I'm sorry, and I hope you'll understand.

Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #31

I received a new set of stamps in the mail today that I won during the last MFP Speedy The Cat's Friend's blog hop! Wheeeee!!! I had no idea what stamp set I'd receive - that's the best part of winning! They sent me a new set from their new unreleased stamps! I LOVE surprises, and this set called "Thankful Mums and Pumpkins" is what I received, and I could barely wait to ink it up once I opened it! I stamped the pumpkins on pumpkin pie card stock and embossed and cut them out. I used a scrap of green to stamp the stems and vines and cut them out and adhered them over the stamped image. I popped the pumpkins up on dimensionals, adding punched ferns and tan and brown hemp. I used some sage card stock for the base, stamping the leaf image with versamark. I added a couple punched leaves done with a MS punch and used some retired SU! dp for the horizontal strips. I used the Stars & Stamps #31 sketch for the layout.
It really cooled down here this evening in PA, so fall must be just around the corner already! Make it a good one folks!

Isn't She Cute?

Here's a quick card I made recently with a cute digi image I downloaded, but I can't find a name on the file to give credit to the person who designed it. If anyone knows who made this cute digi, feel free to leave a comment and I'll edit this post. Thanks!
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background, and pretty in pink card stock for the mat. The top ribbon was from my stash, while the bottom ribbon is SU! The image was colored with Copics and Tombows. I added a few Geo sparklers for accents on the flowers and butterfly. I'll add a sentiment when I decide what occasion I'll use it for :)
Have yourself a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!

ETA: Denise was kind enough to tell me this image is named Lily-Springtime and she's a Stampavie/Rachelle Ann Miller image. Thanks so much Denise! I must have mixed this stamped RAK from Michelle into my pile of printed digis by mistake!

MFP Speedy the Cat's Friends #17

The challenge over at MFP's Speedy the Cat's Friend's challenge is to create a harvest card. I started with glossy cardstock, and embossed a variety of leaf images with gold. I sponged the panel with various colors of inks to resemble the colors of autumn. I added a piece of pomegranate ribbon with a die cut of a couple acorns that were also embossed with gold ep. I went around all the edges of the card and mat with a gold deco pen. The sentiment is from a $1 stamp set I found at Michaels.
Wishing you all a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by:)

Just For Fun Color Challenge #25

This week over at the Just For Fun Color Challenge, the colors are a beautiful combo for autumn cards. I love the color rust, but for some reason it completely challenges me every time I try to use it. I had to push the envelope a bit on this challenge and add some chocolate chip as a neutral to make it work, but I'm still not happy with this card.
I started with PTI's Vintage Cream and embossed the card front with a Tim Holtz Texture Fades ef, then layered some Rust dp with chocolate chip. The floral image is by SU!, colored with markers and then stamped. The sentiment is from SU! and was done with the word window punch. The ribbon is from my stash and the bow was made with the Bow-Easy. This is a simple card design and yet it was a complete struggle for me to put it together! Ha! I gave it my best shot and hopefully someone will enjoy this card more than I do! Do any of you struggle with a particular color too? If so, which one?
Have a fabulous Friday evening and a fantastic weekend!!

Stampin' B's Challenge #72

The challenge over at Stampin' B's this week is to make a card with a die cut, a circle, and flower. My die cut is the two-layer blossom die cut from Spellbinders, while the flowers are on the DP by SU! as well as the center flower which is made from the SU! Fifth Avenue Florals set, stamped with Versamark on Bashful Blue and embossed with white ep. The middle smaller blossom layer is PTI Enchanted Evening while the blue card stock and ribbon is SU! Bashful Blue. The button, which is also my circle on the card, is from SU! tied with some embroidery floss. Border punches are by MS and SU and the sentiment is from the SU! Trendy Trees set.
I hope you all have a great evening, and I'll be back soon! Take care!

OWH Meets Michelle Perkett

My card was made for the mid-week challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog, where we're being challenged to use a Michelle Perkett digi image on a card for a soldier to send home. She's offering 2 darling digi images for free until August 24th at 10:00PM, so if you want to play along and don't have any of her images yet, hop on over there and grab one and play along!
When I saw this cute image, all I could think of was a parent sending this home to a little girl, so I computer generated the sentiment. I used Wild Wasabi and Berry Sorbet card stock and the background DP is Gossamer by Memory Box. I colored the image with Copics and Tombows and added some Berry Sorbet ribbon on the horizontal panels. I used a previous S&S sketch for the layout, and used the Labels 4 dies to cut the image and a Cuttlebug ef for the vertical panel. The photograph didn't capture it very well, but I sponged the main image around the edges (while still in the die) with Memento Angel Pink ink for a little interest.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Thursday!

Birthday Chuckles

Danielle chose the colors this week for the CTD#106 and I found them easy to work with. Soft Sky is one color I hope SU! will bring back one day and it looks so pretty with Chocolate Chip! On to my card.
I combined the CTD106 challenge with the SC294 sketch challenge to create this card. It has lots of layers and it's a square 4.5 card which I rarely make. I used SU! celery and soft sky DP, along with Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky and PTI's kraft card stock. The image is by Inkadinkado, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear detail ep, then colored with Tombows. After punching the scalloped border, I punched some holes into the round edges and sponged with Chocolate Chip. Would you like to guess which embossing folder I used on the Soft Sky panel?! Yep, it's that square lattice ef by SU! that I can't seem to put down lately. I made the faux brads with a hole punch, and a mini sunburst punch, dotting them with Glossy Accents and adding a snippet of Certainly Celery ribbon on the corner.
Now that I made my card for today I have to run errands! Have a good one!!

Just for Fun Color Challenge #24

I know I'm a tad bit late........uh.....make that way late............for this challenge, but I had to play along anyway with these great colors!
All of the papers are SU! scraps from my overflowing stash, while the flowers and leaves were stamped with Technique Tuesday's Pocket Full of Posies. As you can see, I used my SU! square lattice embossing folder again (shocker!!) on the cranberry panel. The ric-rac is from my stash and I added some tiny topaz gemstones along the top. The sentiment is from SU!'s Trendy Trees set done in Versafine Onyx Black. The hand on the left side belongs to my DH who was keeping this card from blowing off the deck railing in the breeze while I took the picture! LOL
That's it for me tonight, but I hope to be back in the morning with more!

Carol

Just Chicken In!

I made this card last night to enter into the Technique Tuesday challenge TTSCS2 to make our own designer paper with TT stamps. I picked up this Quikutz chick die at the VF convention last week and couldn't wait until Easter to use it so I'll put this card aside for the time being. I used the TT WispyGigs stamp set for the background, stamping several images from the set with Versamark on glossy cardstock, and embossing with white ep. I sponged with Memento Angel Pink, New Sprout, and Dandelion inks. I couldn't find an appropriate sentiment, so I just hand wrote my own. DP, ribbon, and cardstock is by PTI, and the chick was made from scraps in my stash.
I hope this little chick puts a little smile on your face today! Thanks for stopping by :)

S&S Sketch Challenge #30

I made this card for this week's Stars and Stamps Sketch challenge #30. It seems like this blog just began yesterday and we're already up to #30! Wow! Where does the time go?
This image is by Inkadinkado, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear detail EP, and colored with Tombows. The paper is from the Jubilee collection by Memory Box, and the ribbon and tab are PTI's Berry Sorbet. Kaiser black pearls round out the embellishments. I used SU's tab punch for the sentiment, writing in the sentiment since I have no vertical stamps.
Have a great Monday evening and thanks always for taking time to check in :)

A Summer Cooler

My husband's niece had a birthday party for her Mom last weekend and she's quite the hostess! She had her beautiful home decorated with fresh flowers and served up some amazing food and drinks. In her kitchen was a big container, exactly like the one on this card, filled with fresh water and lots of sliced lemons! Of course my mind instantly thought of this great image by Impression Obsession that I bought recently. After the party, she sent us home with a gorgeous bouquet of roses and carnations, so I decided to make her a thank-you card using this image. I used a negative from a top-note die cut for the frame with Cool Caribbean cardstock. The image was stamped in black, embossed with clear detail, and colored with Tombows. I added some swirled Glossy Accents to the contents of the container, and added some MS tinsel glitter to the lemons. I also added glossy accents and dazzling diamonds to the cherry and stickles to the flower stamen. The DP is by DCWV and the felt ric-rac and ribbon snippets are from my stash. I made some faux brads for the corners by punching some matching cardstock and covering with glossy accents. If you click the photo to enlarge it, you might be able to see the details a little better.
As for me, I'm going to go fix a pitcher of water with some fresh lemons for today. AHhhhhhh........
Stay cool and have a great Sunday!

Flowers and Music

My first card is for the Crazy 4 Challenges 50 where Frances asks us to add music to our cards, with bonus points for an Elvis image. Sorry to say I don't have any Elvis images, but I think my card puts you in the mind of music! I used a free digi image from Birds Cards for this card and colored with Copics (I'm learning and have very few of those pricey gems, so excuse the poor shading). I punched the stars and embossed them along with the red background using the SU! square lattice ef, then added some Geo Sparklers stickers on the guitar and stars. I used the Nestabilities labels 4 dies and the sentiment is a sticker.
Next up is a card for Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge #16 where Joanne challenges us to use a flower on our card. No problem!!! I love flowers and always find them easy to work with when making a card. For this, I used the Fifth Avenue Florals from SU! stamping them on shimmer cardstock, and embossing with white ep. Then I spritzed the flowers with water, and added droplets of reinker and watched the color spread all by itself! I used shades of orange, yellow and pink for this. The sentiment was computer generated and punched with the word window, then attached with an eyelet and copper cording. For the final touch I added some stickles in the stamens and flower centers.
Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a wonderful weekend!

Stampin B's #71

This card is for the Stampin' B's #71 challenge to "create a scene on our card." For me, this is a way to redeem myself for the recent card I made with a wolf howling at the SUN! LOL I think I got the colors right this time, but instead of using the wolf image, I used a Speedy the cat image that came with the Southwest Cowboy stamp set from MFP. I embossed him with clear detail ep and cut him out and popped him up on the fence with foam squares. The tree image is by IO, also stamped and embossed with clear detail ep before sponging in the colors of the sky. The sentiment was embossed with Carnelian pearl lustre ep and the image is matted on Blue Bayou and Sage Shadow card stocks.
Have yourself a fine Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

A Special Book for Katy

My neighbor and good friend Debbie loves all things hand-made and buys a truckload of my cards. Her daughter Katy graduated from WCU this year and had a phenomenal year playing Lacrosse for the university, so I made her a little memory book to treasure as she looks back on her years of playing lacrosse. This is the cover of the book and it's done in the school colors of gold and plum. The DP is by Basic Grey and the gold cardstock is by Bazzill. I used the backing sheets that come in SU!'s DP packs to give this book a little sturdiness, adhering them to the cardstock and pages, and making the tags for the inside. I added some purple touches here and there with flowers, ribbons, and tabs throughout the book. I d/l the university's logo and made it the focal point of the cover while adding some lacrosse stickers. I also shrunk the logo down to fit my smaller circle punches for embellishments inside.
This is the first opening of the book. I made some decorative punched edges using the slit punch and adding some purple twill underneath. The photos were action shots of Katy's teammates during some of their games this year.
This is the book opened all the way. The back is a flap folded over to create a pocket that holds copies of articles about the team and their games this year. I highlighted Katy's name in red every time it was mentioned to make this a special tribute to her career.
Here's a close-up of the left side of the book. That's Katy on the right in both pictures. She was named to the Womenslacrosse.com All American Squad, and among other top honors, she earned the Athlete of the week from womenslacrosse.com!!! Go Katy!! We're all so very proud of all your accomplishments!!!
This is a close-up of the right side of the book that shows her team and coach. You can always click the photos to enlarge them.
I wanted to add a photo of the back of the book, but blogger wouldn't let me post another photo? I used a Heidi Swapp stamp that says REMEMBER and embossed it in gold on gold cardstock and layered it with purple and black, edging the mats with a gold deco pen.
I can hardly wait to give this to Katy for her birthday in October! Her mom has already seen it and gave me permission to post it, so Katy.........this one's for YOU!!! Congratulations on your fabulous lacrosse and college years at WCU!! Katy is continuing with her education and pursuing a career in law.
I really enjoy making these little memory books for special friends, so I often take a break from cardmaking and go back to my scrapbooking "roots" and feed my passion!
Have a great Wednesday everyone!!! Thanks for stopping by :D

MoJo #151

Here's this week's MoJo 151 sketch. I haven't done a Mojo sketch in forever, so it was time to play along this week. It was a good excuse to use some pretty papers I recently bought.

I love these Bo Bunny Jazmyne papers and the beautiful colors of purple, green and yellow. Everything you see except for the vintage cream and purple cardstock is from the Jazmyne collection. I added a few embossed butterflies using the SU! embosslit, and used a Spellbinder's label diecut for the sentiment panel, adding some PTI plum pudding satin ribbon. I used Verve stamps for the image and sentiment, stamping everything with Elegant Eggplant ink from SU! I added one tiny Hero Arts 3mm pearl to the butterfly on the sentiment panel.
Gotta run to the dentist - oy! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Combined Challenges

Happy Monday everyone, I hope your weekend was a good one!
I made this card for two challenges. First is the Stars & Stamps #29 sketch challenge found here. Next up is the SCS Technique Tuesday challenge which is to use TT stamps. That challenge is here but it ends today. I picked up this cute TT stamp set called "Ribbit" at the Valley Forge Convention last week. I love the tiny, detailed fly image almost as much as the frog, so I made 3 little fly embellishments on the bottom of this card by stamping with versafine onyx black ink, coloring with a Tombow marker and adding some Glossy accents. I hate flies, but I like these little guys LOL! The frog was stamped with Versamark, and embossed with Hunter Green ep, while the leaves were stamped using Wild Wasabi. I added more color to the frog and background with Tombows and stickles, then added some Wasabi ribbon and a button with navy hemp. The vertical DP is from Basic Grey Two Scoops and the blue background is from the PTI bitty box collection. I used two different Cuttlebug embossing folders for the background and panel.
Next up is a card using the same sketch as above, only I flipped it and added a circle sentiment. This is a stamped image I received from Michelle last year. I colored it but never made a card until now. I used Tombows for coloring and added some silver deco pen accents to the ribbon and bow on the package. The sentiment is from G Studios, while the DP is all Figgy Pudding from BG (one of my all-time favs). I made a few faux brads to balance everything out.
It's going to be another hot one here in PA, so I've already run all my errands and I'm staying indoors and chilling for the day! Stay cool and have a good one!!

Howlin' and Sending Mail

This is the first of two cards I made for challenges today. This is for Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge #15, which is to create your own embellishments. I made the sconces you see hanging on the sides of the window, along with the candles and flames. I just love this Southwest Cowboy stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, and it makes the greatest cards for outdoor-type guys! After looking at the finished card, it looks more like the wolf is howling at the sun! LOL Ah well, I'll try this with different colors next time :)
Next up is the QFTD21 challenge which honors Irene aka DandI93 over on SCS. Her gallery is so much fun to browse through, and I chose this card to CASE. I really changed things up from her original card, but this free digi image from SliekjeStamps was a wee bit too big to add a separate sentiment panel. The image pretty much speaks for itself with the mailbox and letter in the cute pup's mouth! I used Kioshi papers from BG along with some Soft Sky and dark green scraps. I made the tiny faux brads and added a swirl cut with a sizzix die and a clip with some soft sky ribbon.
I'm off to a birthday party later this afternoon and it's a gorgeous day here in PA, so I'm going to soak up a little sun! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

JFFCC #23

While browsing the challenge blogs earlier today I found this Just for Fun Color Challenge #23 and thought I'd play along. As soon as I saw the colors I thought I'd use my new SU! owl punch and here's my card!
Aren't these little guys the cutest ever?! I combined the SU! owl punch and bird punch to create these. I used the bird punch to make wings for the owls and the branches. The bowties were made with the fancy labels punch - I just punched one end in the punch, then turned it around and punched close to the first punch, snipping the ends off to make them look like little bowties. I know I know...you'll have to use your imagination a little here :)

The owls are dressed up in embossed vests. For the male birds, I used the SU! square lattice ef, and for the girl I used the SU! petals a plenty. I added a couple 3mm HA pearls to her "dress." They all have glossy accents on their eyes to make them stand out. The background DP is from the Basics White BG paper pad, and the mat and ribbon are Real Red from SU! I sponged all the owls and wings with ColorBox toffee chalk ink. The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers called "Owl Be Here."
Thanks for the great challenge and thanks for stopping by and spending a little of your day with me! Happy Friday everyone!!

Dog Days of Going Back to School

I made this card for the StampinB's Challenge #70 to use a dog, as well as the Stars and Stamps midweek throwdown to use designer paper from our stash. I recently d/l this adorable digi image but the artist didn't add her name to the title, so I don't know who made it. If any of you know the artist, please let me know so I can edit this post and give proper credit. All of the DP is by Imaginisce, and it's from a set of back-to-school papers and embellishments. The scissors, glue bottle and pencil were all cut from a piece of the DP in the pack. The "abc's" is a rubon, the brad and ribbon were also from the same designer pack. I added a Geo sparkler for the dog's tag and doodled around the edge with a SU real red marker. The little notebook paper was distressed with Ranger antique linen ink and punched with the SU! spiral punch. If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see the penmanship in the dark red DP. I'd love it if my printer accepted water color paper so I could blend the colors better on this doggie! I really didn't do this cute image much justice.
Have a great Thursday and stay cool if you can :)

Color Throwdown #104

Don't you just love these fresh summer colors for the CTD104!! I don't have any daffodil delight yet, so I had to substitute some other yellow card stock for that color.

I thought of flowers and leaves as soon as I saw these colors, so I used a new Technique Tuesday set of floral images for this card. I stamped the flowers on 2 different colors of yellow cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink, then embossed them with clear detail ep and cut them out. The centers are just punched cardstock adhered with a drop of glue and dotted with glossy accents. The decorative hummingbird is by Inkadinkado, also stamped with VOB ink, embossed with clear detail ep, and colored with Tombows. I cut the image out and popped it up on foam tape.
Thanks for spending part of your day with me and I wish everyone a fabulous evening!

Carol

stamps - Inkadinkado, Trendy Trees (SU!), Technique Tuesday Pocket Full of Posies
papers
- tangerine tango, haiku DP crushed curry, yellow, old olive
inks - versafine onyx black
accessories - paper punch, Quikutz (corner) word window and fancy labels punches, glossy accents, foam tape, EK success small scallop punch

Sophisticated Lady

This card recently went out to another sweet blogging friend of mine who celebrated her birthday in July. This Rubbernecker stamp was a gift from my friend Heidi and I just love this lady's casual style! I used a soft grey card stock along with blush blossom, coloring the image with copics. I used the recessed diamonds technique for the background and used some narrow ribbon from my stash that matched perfectly. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Wishing you a great Wednesday - thanks for stopping by :)

Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #28

There's a fun sketch challenge over at the S&S blog this week, so I made my 2nd Christmas card using that sketch. (YAY ME!) LOL I pulled out my bin of Christmas papers and dug through the scraps to find these pieces, so I'm sorry I don't know who made them. The stamped image was sent to me by Heidi and it's called Callie Christmas Kitty by High Hopes Stamps. I colored it with markers and added some glaze pen details on the ornaments and lights. Surprise, surprise........I used the SU! square lattice embossing folder again! LOL I punched a piece of real red card stock with the SU scalloped border punch and put the embossed scrap on top of that. The tiny tag and sentiment (with the string of lights) are from a G Studio stamp set and that's a tiny brad on the tag.
I hope your Monday is a good one so far! See you soon :)

MFP Speedy the Cat's Friends #14

The MFP Speedy the Cat's Friend's challenge #14 this week is to make a thank-you card. I was fortunate enough to win a brand new unreleased stamp set from MFP, so this owl image is from that new set titled "Owl Be There." I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear detail ep, then colored it with Tombow markers. Next I cut the image out and popped it up on 2 Spellbinders Labels 10 diecuts. The card stock is by prisma and I used the Birchtone shades of lt, med, and dark. I did the recessed diamonds technique on the lighter shade for the background, using Pumice Stone distress ink. The photo turns and sentiment frame are HodgePodge Hardware from SU! and I made the faux brads on the diecuts by using a paper punch and dotting with CTMH liquid glass. The sentiment is from a G Studio set I found at Michaels.
Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Tiger Eyes

I recently found this awesome free digi image called "Tiger Eyes" at the Stamp-n-doodle blog and I couldn't wait to make some cards with it. I love dramatic colors so I just left this super cool image without color except for the eyes. On the first card I used a Green Galore marker to color the eyes and GG card stock to mat the image. The background was embossed with the CB diamondplate embossing folder. The ribbon is a close match to Green Galore but it has polka dots, so I flipped it to the solid side in keeping with the masculine theme. The faux brads are punched from black cardstock and covered with CTMH liquid glass. The sentiment is a sticker from Stampendous. I don't think I've ever seen a tiger with green eyes, but I thought this color looked pretty neat anyway :)
These next two cards were done with SU! Crushed Curry as the accent color. For this card I used a different Cuttlebug folder (the name escapes me) and the fancy labels & word window punches. I added more faux brads to the side and a couple snippets of Crushed Curry ribbon
This is my favorite of the set - also done in crushed curry. For some reason, the polka dots worked this time, perhaps because they're smaller. I used the SU! square lattice ef and used the word window punch for the sticker sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a wonderful Sunday!
