OWH Meets Michelle Perkett

My card was made for the mid-week challenge over at the Stars & Stamps blog, where we're being challenged to use a Michelle Perkett digi image on a card for a soldier to send home. She's offering 2 darling digi images for free until August 24th at 10:00PM, so if you want to play along and don't have any of her images yet, hop on over there and grab one and play along!
When I saw this cute image, all I could think of was a parent sending this home to a little girl, so I computer generated the sentiment. I used Wild Wasabi and Berry Sorbet card stock and the background DP is Gossamer by Memory Box. I colored the image with Copics and Tombows and added some Berry Sorbet ribbon on the horizontal panels. I used a previous S&S sketch for the layout, and used the Labels 4 dies to cut the image and a Cuttlebug ef for the vertical panel. The photograph didn't capture it very well, but I sponged the main image around the edges (while still in the die) with Memento Angel Pink ink for a little interest.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Thursday!

Carol

Wow Carol I love this! Your coloring is beautiful and the color combination as well as the sketch layout is so striking! The little girl that receives this card is going to keep it forever.

Thank you for faithfully playing along with us at Operation Write Home each week.

I have a new challenge to tell you about over at Michelle Perkett Studio, it's "anything goes with a Michelle Perkett Studio image"! You should enter your card there too, here's a link for you:

Gorgeous card! I love everything about it. Particularly how you've used the ribbon... I always get stuck on "bows" and this is great inspiration to break out of that rut!

Some lucky little girl is going to get a beautiful keepsake! I love the way you used the background paper printed with writing to set the stage for all your textures. I can see the sponging -- and I love it!
