My neighbor and good friend Debbie loves all things hand-made and buys a truckload of my cards. Her daughter Katy graduated from WCU this year and had a phenomenal year playing Lacrosse for the university, so I made her a little memory book to treasure as she looks back on her years of playing lacrosse. This is the cover of the book and it's done in the school colors of gold and plum. The DP is by Basic Grey and the gold cardstock is by Bazzill. I used the backing sheets that come in SU!'s DP packs to give this book a little sturdiness, adhering them to the cardstock and pages, and making the tags for the inside. I added some purple touches here and there with flowers, ribbons, and tabs throughout the book. I d/l the university's logo and made it the focal point of the cover while adding some lacrosse stickers. I also shrunk the logo down to fit my smaller circle punches for embellishments inside.
This is the first opening of the book. I made some decorative punched edges using the slit punch and adding some purple twill underneath. The photos were action shots of Katy's teammates during some of their games this year.
This is the book opened all the way. The back is a flap folded over to create a pocket that holds copies of articles about the team and their games this year. I highlighted Katy's name in red every time it was mentioned to make this a special tribute to her career.
Here's a close-up of the left side of the book. That's Katy on the right in both pictures. She was named to the Womenslacrosse.com All American Squad, and among other top honors, she earned the Athlete of the week from womenslacrosse.com!!! Go Katy!! We're all so very proud of all your accomplishments!!!
This is a close-up of the right side of the book that shows her team and coach. You can always click the photos to enlarge them.
I wanted to add a photo of the back of the book, but blogger wouldn't let me post another photo? I used a Heidi Swapp stamp that says REMEMBER and embossed it in gold on gold cardstock and layered it with purple and black, edging the mats with a gold deco pen.
I can hardly wait to give this to Katy for her birthday in October! Her mom has already seen it and gave me permission to post it, so Katy.........this one's for YOU!!! Congratulations on your fabulous lacrosse and college years at WCU!! Katy is continuing with her education and pursuing a career in law.
I really enjoy making these little memory books for special friends, so I often take a break from cardmaking and go back to my scrapbooking "roots" and feed my passion!
Have a great Wednesday everyone!!! Thanks for stopping by :D

This is such a treasure, Carol. Katy is a lovely young lady, and has a very special Mom who cared enough to make this keepsake. My DD was this intense with basketball, and I miss having bleacher rash, lol.

OMW, this is incredible!!! What a great way to capture Katy's memorabilia....she'll treasure this forever!
Not only are you an incredible designer and artist, but you are a really nice person to do that, too. But then, I already knew you were nice. Great project, Carol! I know it will be one of her treasures to show her own children some day! Blessings, Louise
