For the Game Enthusiast

Here's a birthday card I made for my BIL who is a cards/game enthusiast. He likes to play poker, cards and board games, so this retired SU! dsp was made for his card. I cut the paper into strips and fishtailed the bottoms by using a hexagon punch and placed them on a red card base. The main panel and sentiment were cut using Gina Marie Designs dies and the birthday sentiment was cut with some red glitter paper. I added some black Nuvo drops randomly to finish this card.

I'm sharing with the AAA Birthday Game #55 - use a large sentiment.

I hope you're off to a good start of another week and thanks for stopping by!

Another Masculine Birthday Card

I found it difficult to photograph this card  for some reason, but it looks much better in real life. The Stampendous image was inked with Versamark and stamped on a sturdy kraft remnant; then embossed with gold ep, adding a little bit of coloring with markers and Copics. I used a piece of Pacific Point cardstock for the base and added a strip of matching polka dot paper for the SSS pre-printed sentiment. I found some glitter gold die-cut bits leftover from a previous cutting and added them just for a little sparkle and fun.

Here's another photo angle but unfortunately neither one clearly shows the card the way I hoped it would appear.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

That's it for me today but here's wishing you a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Masculine Birthday

I made this card some time ago and never got around to posting it. I used old (r) SU! designer papers for the vertical strip as well as the die-cut numbers and stitched panel they're sitting on. The background was embossed with an older Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder and I added a pre-printed SSS sentiment along with 3 golden brads to finish this one.

I'm sharing this with the AAA birthday Game #52 - A/G

From the Snippet Box

I've been trying to use some of the snippets I've accumulated for eons, so I dug into that overflowing box once again to create this card. I found 2 die-cut circles in there, one black and one mint green. The mint green circle was  cut from a Lawn Fawn die-cut background with wind swirls, while the black circle was plain. I embossed the black circle with a SU! Petal Burst embossing folder and then sanded it a bit to show all the embossed petals. The die-cut bucket was made with an Impression Obsession die and some grey cardstock; while the greens were done with Precious Maricke and SU! dies. The little bow was made with a Sizzix die from 3 colors. The flowers were done with a SU! mini flower punch, and dotted with Nuvo drops in assorted colors, adding more black drops to the overall design of the card. The birthday greeting was a pre-print that came in a paper pad. I placed this on a Berry Burst cardstock base by SU!

Here's a small sampling of some snippets I used to make this card.

Colorful Birthday Card

Today I have a fun little birthday card made with snippets of polka dot and striped designer papers. I just glued all the strips down in a diagonal pattern and placed the panel on a yellow card base. I've had this Stampendous stamped image forever. (thanks to Wendy and Di for letting me know the manufacturer). I colored it with Copics and glaze pens; then die cut both the image panel and the red mat with stitched square dies. The red sentiment panel was done with a MFT stitched die, and the word "Celebrate" was cut with a Lil Inker die from navy cardstock 3 times, stacked and covered with glossy accents.

Happy Bird-Day

 Happy Thursday everyone and welcome!
While going through my overflowing box of stamped images, I found this bird image by Lindys Stamp Gang that I stamped at a friends house many years ago. I added some color with Copics and glaze pens; hand-drew the branch, and added a couple black & white snippets of dsp to a pretty blue card base. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and I added a few sparkly stickers just for fun. I added a little white cloud to the sky and covered it with Wink of Stella for more sparkle. The expression on this bird's face depicts exactly the way I feel today - probably because we're having yet another rainy, gloomy day.😑

I'll add this to the following challenges:

Birthday Card

Recently I was inspired by a card that came in an email advertisement and decided to make a similar one for my stash. I pulled lots of snippets from my box and put this floral card together.

The doily border was done with a Martha Stewart punch, and the pre-printed sentiment is by Simon Says Stamp. I used assorted flower punches and greenery dies to create the cluster of flowers, adding mini brads and assorted gemstones scattered about. I added a die-cut SU! butterfly to over up an accidental dab of glue in the wrong place. The embossed panel was done with a SU! Decorative Dots embossing folder.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Autumn Birthday Card

My neighbor and sweet friend is having a birthday in a few days and I made this card for her with an autumn leaves theme. I made the background by using an older wooden leaf stamp I've had for eons. I inked assorted colors directly on the rubber and then stamped randomly on the card base. I had a snippet of rust-colored cardstock and die-cut the Lawn Fawn stitched leaf and made a punched border with an EK leaf punch. I used snippets of mirror and glitter card to punch again, inserting the pieces back into the punched border for a little sparkle and color. I die-cut the stitched tag from vellum and placed the leaf on that, adding a heat-embossed gold sentiment from SU!'s teeny tiny wishes, and placed it on a black snippet cut with a SU! word window punch. I also punched a piece of the golden vellum with a MS doily punch and added that underneath the punched border. The final touch was to add a golden butterfly sticker to the top of the tag.

I'll share this with the following challenges:

Recycled Flower

I found this beautiful large flower in my snippets box that was recycled from a card I received. It was too pretty to throw away and I decided to make a birthday card with it. I also found those 2 previously cut green leaves in the box along with the flower, so I paired them up. The sentiment was previously heat-embossed with white on some dark brown cardstock, so I used that snippet too. The background was cut from white with a Lawn Fawn stitched windy day die. My snippets box is a wee bit lighter today, but I have a long way to go before I use up all those bits I've saved through the years :)

I'm sharing this with these challenges:

Summer Birthday Card

Today I have a summery birthday card to share with you. While sorting through my overwhelming supply of stamps, I found this long-forgotten Black-Eyed Susan stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers (now closed) I stamped it and colored it with Copics, Markers, and glaze pens; adding Nuvo black drops in the center and dotting some orange with glaze pens after it dried. I fussy cut this flower and placed it on a white card that was stenciled with Tumbled Glass distress ink and Taylored Expressions cloud stencils. I die cut the large and small sun images from Lil Inker (also now closed) with scraps of orange, red, and yellow. The birds and dragonfly were done with an older Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set, while the sentiment was done with a Taylored Expressions stamp. The grassy border was done with an unmarked wooden stamp I've had for years.

I'll enter this into the following challenges:

Birthday Hugs

While rummaging through my stash, I found several of these lovely hand-crocheted medallions sent to me by a former blogger who passed away several years ago. Her name was Jessi Fogan and her blog was One Crafty Mama. I've used several of them previously, but decided it does no good to hoard beautiful items like this, so I used another one to make this birthday card.
I die-cut a stitched circle of pink to place inside of the medallion and added some die-cut SSS Bella Bloom flowers from pink glitter paper and silver mirror card, adding a drop of black Nuvo pearls to the centers. The butterfly was a die-cut with pink Nuvo pearls added to the center and the sentiment is a pre-printed SSS sentiment backed with some black card.
As for the background - this is one of my favorite ways to use those tiny snippets of cardstock and I think it's called Mosaic. I still have my ancient Xyron machine which adds a complete layer of adhesive to a piece of card. I snipped pieces of matching cardstocks in random fashion and adhered them to the sticky side, then added some pearl embossing powder and heat set it.

I'll enter this into the following challenges:

Embossed Strips

I found a sketch that inspired me to pull out some colorful snippets of cardstock and play along, but the challenge closed before I could finish the card! 😏 Oh well, this has become a repeat habit for me lately it seems.
I laid the strips side-by-side into a WeRMemory Keepers Gemstone ef to make the design, then placed them onto a black card base. I die-cut a Darice flower stem from green, white, and black, and fussy cut the white flowers and covered them with Wink of Stella for some subtle sparkle. The final touch was to add a pre-printed Simon Says Stamp birthday sentiment and I called this one done.

I'll enter this into these challenges:

Seize the Birthday #217 - embossing folder

I decided to make a thank-you card using some different card stock colors along with a KaiserCraft thank-you die. I cut 3 of the sentiments, stacking them on top of each other and covered with Wink of Stella glitter. I used some black Nuvo drops for added interest.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope everything is well and good in your world today.
