Christmas Scene

The last visit I made to my local craft store ended up with this pretty embossing folder coming home with me. It's by Crafter's Companion and it's a 3D Christmas Magic ef. I used a Soft Sky card base, adding some WOS to the trees that will not show up on any photograph I take, so you'll just have to take my word for it that it's got a very pretty subtle shimmer. I added a light touch of Copic coloring to the top and bottom to break up all the white. The 3 deer were colored with a tan marker and I dotted an eye and nose on the largest deer. I put two matching die cuts inside that say "Merry Christmas" and "Peace on Earth." I love this pretty wintry scene so I hope to finish a few more of these before Christmas gets here.
I'll share this with the following challenges:

Washi and Mirror Card

I have so much mirror card and washi tape in my stash it's just ridiculous, so I set out to use as much of it as possible. I made this quick and simple CAS card using PTI white and SU! Gorgeous Grape card stock. I used a Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die to cut the purple mirror and SU! sparkly silver, then swapped the purple negatives of the snowflake tips with the silver sparkle card. I added a silver sticker to the center. The grape panel was die-cut with a MFT horizontal stitched border die and covered with a piece of (retired) SU! washi tape. For the Sunny Studio die-cut sentiment, I covered a strip of PTI white with 2 strips of the washi tape side-by-side, then die-cut it and adhered it to the front.

In this photo you can see the design on the washi tape.

and here's a close-up so you can see the sparkly detail even better.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

That's going to do it for me today, but thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Unrelated to cards, about an hour ago, some brownish-tan snowflakes began falling! I've never seen snow that color before, but it continued falling for about 15 minutes. Has anyone else ever experienced this before? Just curious...

Ho Ho Ho House Mouse

The days are now just flying by until Christmas arrives, so I made a quick and easy Christmas card with a little House Mouse stamp I've had for years. I colored him with Copics, and added some liquid applique to his hat, then die-cut the panel with a MFT stitched circle die. A retired SU! silver doily perfectly fit behind the die-cut panel, and I cut a strip of retired SU! dsp into a banner and stamped a sentiment with a super-old set of wooden stamps I've had since I began stamping over a decade ago. It's all on a dark green card base for some traditional colors.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Inspired by WaWa Coffee Mugs

The other day my husband stopped at WaWa and bought us coffee and I just loved these wintry holiday cups! As soon as we came home, I knew I had to make something out of them, so I rinsed them out and cut them apart and here's what I came up with

I made this card following the Freshly Made Sketch FMS363. I looked through my dies and found the Diamond die by Crafty Cutts that I haven't used in ages, so I cut a strip of diamonds from each colored cup, split them apart, and lined them up to make the vertical panel. The striped dsp is by Recollections, while the sentiment is a die-cut by KaiserCraft. The snowflake was made with Lawn Fawn stitched snowflakes adding a jeweled sticker to the center.

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:

Merry Little Christmas Challenge MLCCB#4 -a/g Christmas
CHNC #412 - a/g Christmas option - something beginning with H
Little Red Wagon challenge #472 - remember when - use something from your stash (diamond dies)

I had enough left to make a couple matchbox treat holders, so I made one in each color. For the red one, I used a Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die with some silver glittered cardstock, along with a SU! die from the pillow box framelit set, adding a big silver candi dot to the center, along with some silver brads. I die-cut the red with a Gina Marie Designs stitched square. For the green, I die-cut the front with a SU! pillow box framelit set, adding a white Lawn Fawn snowflake along with a mirror green snowflake done with the Pillow Box framelit set, along with a big green gemstone to the center. The brads look like tiny buttons and are from Recollections.

Adding these to the Happy Little Stampers November Christmas Challenge - anything goes with an option of being CAS

Here's what the inside looks like. The sentiment was cut from the side of the coffee mug, and perfectly fit the Pillow Box framelit die, so these went together quickly.

That's going to do it for me today, but I'll never know where I'm going to find inspiration these days. Who knew a coffee cup would inspire me this much? LOL
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Hedgehog

I've had a couple of these Penny Black stamped images in my stash for quite some time now, and decided with Christmas just around the corner I'd better get busy and use them! I colored this with Copics and added some Frosted Stickles to the fur on the stocking along with some gold paint pen accents.
I used dsp from an old Bo Bunny Christmas pack, along with some dark green cardstock that was embossed with a CB Snowglobe ef. The tags were cut with Lawn Fawn tag dies and tied together with some twine. The enamel dots are from Taylored Expressions and the sentiment is from SU!

CASEd Christmas Card

Last year I made this Christmas card, and I decided to CASE it and make another one for this year. I colored the Stampendous Santa image a little differently, and added a Unity sentiment along with a little touch of black this time around. The embossed panel was done with a Sizzix Snow Globe ef, and the card base is SU! Cherry Cobbler, with some matching Cherry Cobbler ribbon that's been long-retired. I just love this stamp and try to use it every year to make at least one card.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Patient Pup

Today I have a Christmas card that includes an adorable Stampendous Patient Pup image. I colored the image with Copics and did the lower border with a Martha Stewart doily punch, stamping the sentiment before adding a piece of red ribbon and 3 green mini brads. This went together quickly after coloring so I will probably make a few more before I put this stamp away for another year.

Christmas Fawn

I have a Christmas card to share today using a Whimsy digital Stamp called "Fawn." I colored this sweet image with Copics and added some glossy accents to his big red bow. The red dsp is by American Crafts, while the kraft snippet is SU! retired. I added a SU! sentiment along with some tiny red gemstones to finish this one.

This one is going into the September Rudolph Days Challenge which runs until the end of September. All you need to do is make a Christmas card.

Tight Squeeze

I have another Christmas card to share today, made with a Whimsy digital image called Tight Squeeze. I colored the image with Copics, then water colored the night sky with not-quite-navy ink and an aqua brush. After it dried, I stamped lots of tiny snowflakes with white craft ink and assorted tiny stamps. I used 2 snippets of designer paper, and added 2 die-cut Lawn Fawn stitched snowflakes with drops of Nuvo glitter drops here and there. The sentiment is an old G studio stamp that just seemed perfect for this image :) I added liquid applique to Santa's suit and hat, and added lots of stickles to the rooftop for snow.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Wheeee!

My card today was made with a Whimsy Stamps digital image called "skiing penguin" that I recently won. Isn't he the cutest? I colored him with many different markers, glaze pens, and paint pens, and added glossy accents to his goggles along with some liquid applique to the fur on his cap. I die-cut a Lawn Fawn stitched hillside panel and covered it with frosted stickles to create the snowy hill he's skiing down, and added some sparkly snow behind his skis with 3 different colors of stickles. The sentiment was done with an old G Studio $1 stamp I got from Michaels many years ago, and I used circle punches to cut it along with the turquoise mat. I added a big piece of turquoise bling in the center just for fun. The cardbase and mats are turquoise, and the 2 different designer papers are old ones from Memory Box.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Christmas Angel

Today I have a simple Christmas card but the picture shows a green angel, when IRL she's pastel yellow! I just couldn't get the color correct, so I'm posting anyway. I die cut the Gina Marie Designs angel in vanilla cardstock and yellow vellum, inlaying the vellum into the vanilla. I placed her on a SU! glittered gold oval cut with a Gina Marie Designs stitched oval die. I took a 4x5-1/4" piece of vanilla, and die cut the opening with another Gina Marie Designs scalloped die - which cuts an opening and leaves a scalloped edge. The stitched oval fits perfectly inside that opening, but I popped it up on foam tape so you could see a hint of the red card base around the edges. The sentiment is a die-cut by Die-Versions.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Twofer #8

The Twofer Challenge #8 is still open for a couple more days and I finally got my geometric cards finished. This is definitely the most difficult challenge for me to do each month, but I enjoy a good challenge, so here goes.

I made a card for kids along with a Christmas card by using 1-5/8" squares. I didn't use a die or a punch, I hand cut the squares to make both a border and a door.

I cut 4 panels of vanilla cardstock to make the door, scoring and curling along the edges to resemble beveled edges. I made a wreath of greens using many different snippets of green cardstock and a Martha Stewart fern punch. I added red and gold drops of stickles to the ferns along with a twine bow. The door handle was made with some SU! hardware I've had for years! It's actually a photo turn and brad, but my mind sees it as a metal door handle :) The sentiment is from Verve, heat-embossed with white ep on black and matted with wild wasabi cardstock.

I'm also sharing this card with the following challenges:

The Snippets Playground #333 - must use snippets

Craftyhazelnuts CHNC #399 - Christmas challenge anything goes/optional no stamped or digital image

Here's the 2nd of my Twofer cards - a little something for the kiddos. I used 3 blocks of dsp from a DCWV paper pad and matted with gray. The little skunk is from Lawn Fawn, done with a MFT stitched circle die, as well as SB circle and scalloped circle dies. The card base is SU! Berry Burst and I inked in 2 of the stamped hearts with a pink glaze pen.

I'm also sharing this card with the following challenges:

Cocoa Mouse in Cocoa

I had to bring Cocoa Mouse back out to make a Christmas card with him, as he's my favorite mouse in the world of stamps. This time he's in a nice cup of cocoa with a candy cane and a few marshmallows, so it doesn't get much sweeter than that! He's made by Sweet'n Sassy and I colored him with Copics, adding some Nuvo pink glitter drops along with some frosted stickles. I matted the image on a snippet of cocoa colored cardstock, then used some MFT fishtail banner dies to cut the banners from snippets of kraft and tan, adding a few decorative dots. The side panel was embossed with a SU! starburst ef, and I used some pretty ribbon that I cut into a banner and attached a rose-colored brad to the folded top just for fun. The sentiment is from the Cocoa Mouse stamp set, and it's all on a Rose Red card base.
I will enter this into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday #541- anything goes

Christmas Candle

While in the mood to make some Christmas cards, I pulled out a neglected Christmas candle stamp by SNSS that hasn't seen ink in years. I stamped the image and SU! sentiment, then colored with Copics and added some gold stickles, along with some white and clear wink of stella - which unfortunately does not show up very well in the photo. I used a SB labels 18 die, drawing a fine line around the inside edge with a black marker, and sponging it with Spun Sugar distress ink before removing the die. I popped it up on dimensionals on a piece of red card stock that was embossed with a TE poinsettia die, and added some SU! woven ribbon that has just a hint of gold.
This was easy to make and is flat for mailing, so I may make a few more of this design before I put this stamp away again.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Christmas in July

The Shopping Our Stash SOS #362 is Christmas in July, so I made a Christmas card to play along. The flowers were done with a Sweet'n Sassy Stamp set I've had for years and don't often use, but I dug it out of the cobwebs and made a card with it. I colored the image with Copics and a yellow glaze pen, then covered the entire piece with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear detail ep. I fussy cut the image out and placed it on a white piece that was embossed with a Taylored Expressions poinsettia ef and sponged with colored chalks in red and green. The sentiment is by SU! Teeny Tiny Wishes and was heat-embossed with gold ep on a black panel. The final touch was to add a twine bow and some red gemstones before placing it all on a dark green cardbase.

I'm also going to share this with Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge 394 which is anything Christmas with an option of using a die-cut or a punch.

Christmas is going to be here by the time we blink our eyes a few more times, so I figured I'd best get some cards made ahead of schedule.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful Friday and a great kick-off to a fun weekend as well.

Santa's Chillin' at the Beach!

This is not your typical beach scene, but what the heck?! LOL I found this old stamped Santa image in my box of stamped images and I THINK it's by High Hopes, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows, feel free to leave a comment and I'll correct it. I've had it for years! I colored it with Copics. and matted with a snippet of blue cardstock. I added some glossy accents to his sunglasses and some frosty stickles to the fur on his hat. I added a piece of striped dsp across the bottom along with a beach border done with an EK punch, coloring the elements with fluorescent Copics. The sentiment is by SU! and I added some red & white twine for the final touchm placing it on a snippet of watery looking cardstock I've had for eons.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Merry July!

It's going to be a sweltering day here in PA, so I have another Christmas card to help cool us all off. I used up some favorite snippets of retired DSP from SU! and die-cut them with GMD stitched squares. I die-cut the tree with SU!'s perfect pines framelits from the red and green pieces, and inlaid the tree into the red. Next I added a mirror gold punched star done with a retired SU! mini punch. To dress up the tree, I added gold stickles in a criss-cross pattern. The word Merry was done with mirror gold card and a Sunny Studio word die. It's all been placed on a vanilla card base for a quick and easy Christmas card.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Jingle Belles Stars and Stripes challenge - make a christmas card using stars and/or stripes (I used both)

Christmas Reindeer

I'm still wearing my Santa hat and creating Christmas cards in June, so here is another one. This image is by SU!, and I used to have the stamp set, but gave it away and don't know the name of it. I had a couple stamped images left and colored this one with traditional red & green colors, adding some sparkle to the center reindeer's big nose with Xmas Stickles. I used some snippets of red, green and black to put this together, adding a sentiment of "JOY" done with my Quickutz. The MFT die-dut fishtail banners were done with a SU! retired "Plaid" stamp on red and heat-embossed with white ep, then matted with black. The plaid background paper is from an American Crafts Christmas paper pad.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

June Rudolph Days Challenge - make a Christmas card

HSL June Christmas Challenge - a/g Christmas with an option of "Joy"

Christmas in June

I treated myself to an embossing folder (Hobby Solution - "Holly") that I found at my local craft store recently which put me in the mood to make Christmas cards. I embossed the vanilla panel and liked how it looked all by itself, but I decided to add more - it's just how I roll I suppose. I love CAS designs, but have this impulse to add more and more until the CAS disappears LOL Anyway, I pulled out a very old Zig marker in a pretty green shade and colored in all those holly leaves that were embossed. I did the swirlies with a gold pen and added red Xmas stickles for the berries. I colored the inside of the leaves with a darker green Copic marker. The Merry Christmas sentiment is by Kaisercraft and I cut it twice, layering one on top of the other and after stamping it all over with Versamark ink, I heat-embossed it with gold ep and called  this card done. I like the overall look - but I wish the gold pen was a better match to the gold used on the sentiment. The photo makes it look more "off" than it is IRL, but at least I added another card  to my Christmas stash.

I'm going to share this with Craftyhazelnut's CHNC #389 Christmas challenge - anything goes as long as it's Christmas with an option of winter fun.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend whatever you do!

Mosaic Christmas Angel

I recently made this Christmas card with bits of some leftover SU! dsp that were too small to use for anything else. I started with a piece of cardstock run through the Zyron to coat it with adhesive, then placed those bits randomly, leaving spaces between. After all the snippets were placed, I heat-embossed with gold ep and then die cut the panel and card base with Lil Inkers stitched rectangles. I added a cherry cardstock oval done with a GMD stitched oval die, then made the angel. The angel is a GMD die that I cut from foiled gold and vanilla and inlaid the vanilla negatives back into the gold. The sentiment is a portion of the Peace on Earth die done with a Die Versions die.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

the Snippets Playground #321 - must use snippets
CHNC #375 - Christmas anything goes - optional vintage or shabby chic

Oh, and if you're wondering what I did with the snippets from making this card, I made a 2nd card...

I noticed in the photo that I need to make some adjustments on the gold inlaid pieces on the angel but that's minor. The word Peace was die cut with a MB die and the mosaic frame is the piece leftover from cutting the rectangle on the first card. I used it to frame this card.

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great kick-off to the weekend!
