Christmas Card

A thoughtful friend sent me a Karen Burniston set of dies for Christmas and this is my first attempt with using it. For the card front, I decorated it with one of the die-cut trees included in the set and covered it with liquid applique and some die-cut ornaments made of mirror card in assorted colors. The gnome was done with a SSS die and some random snippets of striped paper. The dog is a die-cut from Impression Obsession and the greeting is by Northwoods.

The inside pops up to be a surprise Christmas tree and it folds flat for mailing. I added a black SNSS border die and filled the negative spaces with gold mirror card, and added a Hero Arts sentiment at the top, die cut with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle and added a Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake in matching mirror gold. Sorry for the terrible photos, I just couldn't get the proper light on this card.

Blue Christmas

Today I have a Christmas card made with a stencil and some Tumbled Glass distress ink. I simply sponged through the stencil; then sponged a snippet of white with the ink to make the mat for the pre-printed SSS sentiment. I added a few silver pearls and called this one easy and done!

Kringle Gnome

I'd completely forgotten about this adorable gnome die a sweet friend sent me for Christmas last year, but as soon as I unearthed it from my Christmas stash, I made my first card with it, using snippets and papers from a Kringle & Co paper pad - which is why I call him my Kringle Gnome :) I used some smoky slate cardstock to create the stitched frame, and added a SU! sentiment to the top. I added Wink of Stella to his hat trim, pom-pom and mitten and boots fur.

I'm going to enter this card into the following challenges:

Christmas Watercolors on Black

Lately I've been seeing this older technique of water coloring on black done around blogland, so I dug out my trusty Derwent watercolored pencils and gave it a try myself.
I used the SSS/GinaK Designs Stamptember 2019 Festive Flower image, stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed with gold. I used my water colored pencils to color the image and added a green, red, and gold gemstone, along with a heat-embossed gold sentiment. Originally I stamped/embossed the sentiment directly onto the card, but didn't align it in a straight line, so I opted to cover it up with a die-cut label instead :)

Here's a bit of a side angle so you can see the shine and shimmer of the colors. I just love how this turned out!

I'm sharing it with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which is to "stamp it." Can you believe it's the "Stamptember" celebration a year later already?!

I'll also share with the Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog #26 - September anything goes

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a wonderful day!

Christmas Ornament in Blue

Please excuse the lousy photography on this card; it's much prettier IRL. I had to tone down the brightness in order to see the soft stenciled background, and that really washed out the bright royal blue color on the ornament and sentiment.

I haven't used this Heartfelt Creations stamp and die set in ages, so I decided to give it a play. I took a piece of royal blue card stock along with a stamp from the matching set, and stamped it with Versamark ink, then embossed it with Winter Wonderland ep to give it a little sparkle. I dotted the flakes on the stamped image with Nuvo crystal aquatic drops. The background was done with some Tumbled Glass distress ink along with a SU! stencil. The branches at the top were die cut with Poppy Shasta Twig dies from a medium blue card stock and covered with liquid applique. After it dried, I puffed it up with a heat gun to make it look like snow. I added a twine bow with twisted white & silver for some contrast. The "chain" it's hanging from is a sticker and the random mirror blue snowflakes are also stickers. The sentiment was done with a SU! sentiment, embossed to match the snowflake, and die-cut with a Lil Inker stitched sentiment panel.

I'd like to enter this into the Cuttlebug Mania challenge  to use 4 different shades of blue (must always use a die cutting machine - I used my Big Shot)

Christmas Hedgehog

I've had a couple of these Penny Black stamped images in my stash for quite some time now, and decided with Christmas just around the corner I'd better get busy and use them! I colored this with Copics and added some Frosted Stickles to the fur on the stocking along with some gold paint pen accents.
I used dsp from an old Bo Bunny Christmas pack, along with some dark green cardstock that was embossed with a CB Snowglobe ef. The tags were cut with Lawn Fawn tag dies and tied together with some twine. The enamel dots are from Taylored Expressions and the sentiment is from SU!

CASEd Christmas Card

Last year I made this Christmas card, and I decided to CASE it and make another one for this year. I colored the Stampendous Santa image a little differently, and added a Unity sentiment along with a little touch of black this time around. The embossed panel was done with a Sizzix Snow Globe ef, and the card base is SU! Cherry Cobbler, with some matching Cherry Cobbler ribbon that's been long-retired. I just love this stamp and try to use it every year to make at least one card.

Patient Pup

Today I have a Christmas card that includes an adorable Stampendous Patient Pup image. I colored the image with Copics and did the lower border with a Martha Stewart doily punch, stamping the sentiment before adding a piece of red ribbon and 3 green mini brads. This went together quickly after coloring so I will probably make a few more before I put this stamp away for another year.

Tight Squeeze

I have another Christmas card to share today, made with a Whimsy digital image called Tight Squeeze. I colored the image with Copics, then water colored the night sky with not-quite-navy ink and an aqua brush. After it dried, I stamped lots of tiny snowflakes with white craft ink and assorted tiny stamps. I used 2 snippets of designer paper, and added 2 die-cut Lawn Fawn stitched snowflakes with drops of Nuvo glitter drops here and there. The sentiment is an old G studio stamp that just seemed perfect for this image :) I added liquid applique to Santa's suit and hat, and added lots of stickles to the rooftop for snow.

Christmas Angel

Today I have a simple Christmas card but the picture shows a green angel, when IRL she's pastel yellow! I just couldn't get the color correct, so I'm posting anyway. I die cut the Gina Marie Designs angel in vanilla cardstock and yellow vellum, inlaying the vellum into the vanilla. I placed her on a SU! glittered gold oval cut with a Gina Marie Designs stitched oval die. I took a 4x5-1/4" piece of vanilla, and die cut the opening with another Gina Marie Designs scalloped die - which cuts an opening and leaves a scalloped edge. The stitched oval fits perfectly inside that opening, but I popped it up on foam tape so you could see a hint of the red card base around the edges. The sentiment is a die-cut by Die-Versions.

Cocoa Mouse in Cocoa

I had to bring Cocoa Mouse back out to make a Christmas card with him, as he's my favorite mouse in the world of stamps. This time he's in a nice cup of cocoa with a candy cane and a few marshmallows, so it doesn't get much sweeter than that! He's made by Sweet'n Sassy and I colored him with Copics, adding some Nuvo pink glitter drops along with some frosted stickles. I matted the image on a snippet of cocoa colored cardstock, then used some MFT fishtail banner dies to cut the banners from snippets of kraft and tan, adding a few decorative dots. The side panel was embossed with a SU! starburst ef, and I used some pretty ribbon that I cut into a banner and attached a rose-colored brad to the folded top just for fun. The sentiment is from the Cocoa Mouse stamp set, and it's all on a Rose Red card base.
I will enter this into the following challenges:
