That's a Wrap!

I have another Christmas card to share today - this one using some great dsp gifted to me by my friend Mary Anne. The images were large and hard to use on a small card until I discovered cutting them in panels looked pretty cool! I placed the panels on red, and added a green and white MFT mini tag with a SU! sentiment and tied it all up with some silver ribbon. The card base is Smoky Slate.

TMS #433

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge. This week we're working on #433 and we're being sponsored by All Dressed Up. This week our DT member Janice designed this fun and easy sketch for us...

I used the Christmas Reindeer digital image which was provided to me by All Dressed Up. I printed it and then colored it with Copics and die-cut it with a GMD stitched oval, along with an Island Indigo mat die-cut with a SB scalloped petite oval. The dsp is by SU! and the gemstones are from my stash. The Pool Party cardstock snowflakes were die-cut with Lawn Fawn stitched snowflakes and dotted with some Stickles. I also added some dotted white gel pen accents to the reindeer's back as well as a few random Nuvo glitter drops to the image panel.

Tree Tag

I recently watched a video by Jennifer McGuire showing us how to make 3D tags, and I couldn't wait to try making one of my own so here it is!

I used some SU! perfect pines framelits, cutting 6 of them and attaching them together according to the video. The tag is a piece of sturdy PTI kraft cardstock which was cut with a scalloped top punch by SU!, and dotted with "snow" by using a stick stamp by Judith and some white pigment ink from Simon Says Stamp. I dotted the tree with gold stickles instead of using gemstones and added some neutral twine by the Twinery to finish this tag. I was enthused about crafting again and plan to make several tags like this in assorted colors. I think they're really fun and will surely dress up any gifts for giving!

Christmas Joy

I have a Christmas card to share today that was made with Tim Holtz stamps and matching dies as well as some Lawn Fawn stitched hillside dies. The gold-embossed deer was done on kraft and die-cut with a TH set of stamps and dies which includes the word "Joy" as well as the holly around his neck. I used snippets of wild wasabi card for the holly and dotted it with red liquid pearls, while I stamped the sentiment with real red ink on white and cut it using the matching die. The trees were cut with another Tim Holtz die from dark green card. The wooden background was done with a SNSS wooden strip stamp in assorted shades of brown on a kraft panel.

Peace on Earth

I have a simple Christmas card today using snippets of light and dark green cardstock along with white. The background was embossed with a SU! softly fallen embossing folder, and the trees were done with a Tim Holtz die in 2 different colors of green. The stitched hillside was done with a Lawn Fawn die and the sentiment was done with a Die Versions die. Those trees on a snowy hill do remind me of a peaceful scene somehow.

Christmas Tags for the Guys

I usually make lots of tags during the year to use up those small snippets of cardstock, and tags will definitely make good use of those small bits of cardstock. I used some Poppy Tiny Fawns dies to make the deer, and hand-drew in the faces. Next time I'll leave the faces blank or just add a dab of red glitter for the noses. I used bits of green and black cardstock, and cut them with a SU! scalloped top tag punch, adding some older deer ribbon I've had for eons. The white birch trees were done with an unmarked stamp generously gifted to me by a friend, and I heat embossed it with white ep. For the black tag, I die cut a silver mirror card circle for the punched hole before adding ribbon, then tied the ribbon with some black & white twisted twine. I just toss these tags into a box and have plenty to share with my friends at the end of the year.

Stampendous Patient Pup

I made this Christmas card with an adorable Stampendous patient pup stamp, coloring with Copics warm tones and adding a red santa hat to match the long retired red ribbon from SU! I added a piece of red/white twine around the ribbon and called this one done.

I'm sharing this with the Jingle Belles challenge  which is "Not a Creature was Stirring" - in other words, add a creature or animal to your Christmas card.

Silhouette Stag

I have a quick and easy Christmas card made with a masculine feel because we have friends who are avid hunters and they love cards like this. I die-cut the KaiserCraft stag from black and placed it upon 2 stitched oval die-cuts done with Gina Marie stitched oval dies. The first layer was done with a random piece of cork cardstock, and the bottom layer was done with Caramel cardstock. The cardbase is also Caramel, while the dsp is retired SU! The sentiment was heat-embossed with white ep using a SU! retired stamp set. I'll make a few more in different colors and probably make a few matching tags as well.

Using Designer Paper Snippets

I'm really trying to use up all of those snippets of old Christmas designer paper before buying anything new, so I came up with this simple design to make several cards. I cut the end of the strips with a hexagon punch to make the fishtails, then matted them with Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The sentiment is from SU! and the holly leaves are die-cuts from Poppystamps using snippets of dark green cardstock. I added 3 tiny red gemstones to finish the card. Christmas Lantern

I have a Christmas card for you today that was made with a lantern die gifted to me by a good friend. I cut it several times from black, red, green and gold and swapped the negative pieces into the die, adding some color to the candle and other areas with Copics. The white circle is a die cut from Stitched circles by MFT, while the red scalloped border was done with SB scalloped circles. The "Merry" sentiment is a die from Sunny Studio, and the embossed background was done with a Sizzix Hello Friend ef.

Blue Christmas

While going through my stash, I decided to use some older retired SU! dsp and make some Christmas cards. I pulled out some Island Indigo and Pool party cardstock to match this dsp, along with some long overlooked stickers. The scalloped panel was die cut with a SNSS border die, and the snowflake was cut from white with a Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die. The silver border is a sticker and the center of the snowflake is a sticker, and the sentiment is also a silver peel off sticker I found at my LSS. This is the Island Indigo version.....

and this is the pool party version.

I liked this card so much I made a set of 4.

Masculine Christmas

Here's a masculine Christmas card for those who like the great outdoors and hunting. I cut a Kaisercraft stag die in white and placed it on top of a printed plaid design, cutting the Wasabi card base and image panel with Lil Inker stitched rectangles. The sentiment is a peel-off sticker, and the 3 golden embellishments are Geo Sparkler stickers. Quick and easy but great for those men in your life.

I decided to make another one by inlaying the stag image instead of placing it on top...

This was done with a Smoky Slate card base and a red plaid design, adding silver Geo Sparklers along with a silver sentiment placed a bit lower on the plaid panel. When you inlay a die this way, you end up with a plaid stag image, so I made a matching tag to go along with the card...

I used a scalloped top tag punch by SU! for this, rounding the bottom corners with another punch. I'll add ribbon when it's time to use this set, and I have some beautiful grey chevron ribbon that will look great. For now, it stores nicely without the ribbon.

Poinsettia Christmas Card

Here's yet another wooden background I made with a SNSS wood plank stamp from the grunge borders set. I used assorted distress inks to create a variation of color. The red panel was embossed with a SU! petals a'plenty ef, and the green panel was hand-cut into a fishtail. The doily is from SU! and the poinsettia was made with a set of SB poinsettia dies and leaves. To give the flower some dimension, I curled each petal around a pencil, and for the smaller petals I used a knitting needle to curl them. I added some orange gemstones to the center and finished this by adding a "merry" sentiment, cut with a Sunny Studio die from gold foil cardstock.

Christmas Card

 I found this card on Pinterest and wanted to case it so here's my version.

I pulled out a SNSS grunge borders stamp set I've had for years (and never used) and discovered one stamp that looked like a plank of wood! I used that stamp to make the wooden background by stamping on a kraft card base with different shades of earthy distress inks. Next I hand-cut the red and green banners and added a SB die-cut circle of retired SU! Christmas dsp, placing a strip of stamped kraft cardstock on top. The trees were made by stamping on snippets of red and green with Versamark and a retired SU! flannel background punch, then heat embossed with clear ep. I used a SU! tree punch to cut them and popped them up on foam tape. The "merry" was die cut with vanilla cardstock and a Sunny Studio die. I kept wanting to add more to this card, but ultimately decided to leave it alone and not over-embellish since it has a slight grunge look that I like.

Christmas in July

Hello and happy Tuesday! This week the Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge #411 is celebrating Christmas in July along with our weekly sketch challenge.

This week the sketch was designed by our own Debbie Foster and it's an easy one too. Just make a Christmas card using this sketch and enter to win some great prizes!

I flipped the sketch to make a regular side-fold A2 card, using a Santa image by Stampendous. I stamped the image with vintage photo distress ink, and then added some cheek color with chalk and a q-tip and made his eyes blue with a marker. The matted layers used were Cherry Cobbler and Kraft, and the ribbon is by SU! The vanilla background was embossed with a Sizzix Snow Globe ef and the sentiment is from Northwoods.

Peace on Earth

I've switched back into Christmas mode for a day here to make a few cards. The angel die is from GinaMarieDesigns, and she was cut from the package she was mailed in! Yep, it was a brilliant red bubble wrap mailer and I knew right away I'd have to use that to do some craft images. I pulled the bubble wrap off the back and used the front to cut this angel. I left all the pieces in tact because I thought it looked pretty that way. I put her on a GMD stitched oval, and used a piece of retired SU! dsp. The sentiment was cut using a Die Versions Sweet Wordlets die.

Here's a version with all the negative pieces removed and I used a glittered piece of dsp for the background.

and here she is die-cut with a piece of gold metallic cardstock.

Season's Tweetings

Here's another Christmas card I made with Lawn Fawn's Season's Tweetings stamp set. I borrowed a window die from my sweet friend and die cut it with some pastel grey and white cardstocks, inserting the white negatives into the grey frame. I stamped each negative with the images, coloring with Copics, then tied some red & white twine around the bottom, placing it all on a piece of SU! retired Christmas paper. I may have to borrow this window die again because it's perfect with this stamp set!

Christmas House Mouse

I had this House Mouse image stamped and already colored, so all I needed to do was die-cut it with a MFT stitched circle die and add some liquid applique to the fur on his Santa hat. I die-cut a green panel with a Gina Marie Designs stitched square die and added some tiny square geo sparkler stickers. The horizontal border was done with a SU! scalloped border punch, adding 2 pieces of retired SU! woven golden ribbon, along with 2 square gold geo sparkler stickers on either side of the image panel. The sentiment is by SU! teeny tiny wishes and was done with retired SU! label punches, adding 2 tiny round geo sparklers to the sides. The dsp is by Bo Bunny.

Crazy Dog Christmas

I'm still having fun playing with the Tim Holtz crazy dog and accessory stamp sets, and this time I made a snarky Christmas card. The dog looks grumpy, so I added a grumpy sentiment with a Crafters Companion Bah Humbug die. I lightly colored the B.A.H. with pastel green to match the colors in the image panel. The background dsp is SU! and the minty green dsp was a snippet from my stash. I colored the dog with Copics, and added some liquid applique to the furry portions of his Santa hat.

Season's Greetings

I finally cut into a piece of 12" designer paper I've had since my scrapbooking days and made a card with it. The front has white snowflakes, while the reverse side is a dark teal color. I found it hard to use on cards because of the big patterns, but cutting just a strip works for this card. I flipped a piece over and cut it to give the horizontal panel a little contrasting mat, and then decided to cut the square elements with it as well. The bottom 2 squares were done with a GMD stitched square die, while the scalloped panel was done with a SU! punch. The snowflake was done with a Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake die and a snippet of pool party cardstock, and I added several clear gemstones along with a Northwoods sentiment.
