Christmas Snippets

I made several Christmas cards using random snippets of designer papers.
For this one I stamped, colored and fussy cut a cute mouse image by Gerda Stein and placed him in the center. I found a box of assorted shiny gemstones (like the one he's holding) that I bought from QVC probably a decade ago and wanted to use them. That's one down, about 200 to go 😁
the sentiment is pre-printed and from SSS, cut with MFT fishtail banner dies.

I'll share this with the following challenges:

the Double D challenge - anything with a tail

2 Crafty Critter Crazies #54 - must use a critter

Repeat Impressions Theme Challenge S821 - Let's see your sparkle & shine

Cute Card Thursday #692 - A/G - (Theme - birthday - optional)

Thanks as always for the visit, and I wish everyone the best possible day!

New Puppy Card

I recently sent this card to a blogging friend who got a new puppy. Once again, I made another hidden gatefold card and used some powder pink. white, and grey cardstocks, adding a snippet of gray & white dsp. I cut the ovals and scalloped oval with Spellbinder dies, and embossed the background with a Darice pawprint background ef that I bought ages ago and don't think I've ever used until now! The doggie image is from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps and I finished this with lots of pink Nuvo drops on the scallops.

Here's what the gatefold looks like when you lift the top flap, and there is plenty of space to write your sentiment inside when you open these flaps. I added 2 pieces of matching dsp to the sides and added a congrats sentiment also from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps.

l'll enter this into the following challenges:

Dies R Us Challenge #170 - a/g using dies sold at their store (Spellbinders)

NBUS challenge #27 - never before used schtuff (EF)

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a fabulous day!

Happy Easter

I sponged the colors onto this card using Tumbled Glass, Citron and Raspberry distress inks. I sponged the middle section first with Spun Sugar, then used a die-cut cross for a mask, sponging over and around it with Raspberry ink to make the soft image of a cross appear in the sky. I added a SSS Bunny Hugs die-cut to the bottom, adding a Sweet 'n Sassy sentiment that I've had for probably ten years. I replaced the little heart in the bunny with some pink glitter paper for a touch of sparkle.

I will enter this into the following challenges:

the Retro Rubber Challenge #155 - Rainbow - use stamps more than 1 yr old

Wishing those who celebrate a very joyful and blessed Easter today. May your holiday be spent with loved ones once again.
Thanks for stopping by.

The Black Cat

I wanted to play in the Color Hues challenge #14 which is to use only black & white, but I'm just not too fond of this now that I made it. LOL I used a piece of black & white dsp by DCWV and added a piece of black lace along with 2 stitched oval dies and a cat, done with a SU! punch. The tiny bow is from Lawn Fawn's Tiny Box set of dies. I went a little too wild with the black Nuvo drops, adding them to the dsp, image panel and tiny bow, and after I added them, I realized it would have been better if I'd just used them on the ovals. Oh well, live and learn - I'm just not a very good CAS card maker ;)
I left the sentiment off because I'm not sure what occasion I'll use this for. I have 2 friends who are cat lovers and they'll both probably enjoy this as it is.

I'll also enter this into the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge for March - just use a critter

Happy Monday everyone! Thanks for the visit!

Easter Bunny

I recently won a prize from STAMPlorations and chose this Broken Glass stencil for my prize. I thought it would make a pretty Easter card so that's what I made. I used distress inks and small brushes to color it. I used  Tempting Turquoise cardstock to make the card base and mat, and used some MFT stitched oval dies to make the focal point. I stamped the (r) SU! bunny image with Memento ink and colored it in with a light tan marker. I used some pink for the eye and ears and used a chocolate marker for the nose. The grass was made with a Sweet'n Sassy die and I added a little bow that was recycled from another card.

I'm going to enter this into the challenges listed below:

NBUS #24 - the stencil is brand new
Craft Rocket Challenge #79 - use dies and/or spring
Just Us Girls Challenge #574 - word week "animals"
STAMPlorations March Stencil challenge - a/g and must use a stencil

Child's Valentine

While sorting through my box of pre-made "scraps" I came across this stamped image and decided it would make a cute valentine for one of 2 little boys I send cards to. I colored it with Copics and a red glitter pen then cut it with a stitched square die. I found a snippet of Lawn Fawn dsp with tiny hearts that I liked, but it was too small to cover the whole card front, so I cut it into 2 pieces and added a stamped sentiment of X's and O's at the bottom. I used a retired SU! set called "Oh Goodie" for that. Sorry it's a bit crooked - it seems as I've gotten older I stamp or place everything slightly crooked anymore - in spite of using a stamping device to avoid that problem ???
I'll enter this into the following challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More #396 - make your mark (use markers)

Pixie's Snippets Playground #394 - use snippets (dsp)

Thanks for joining me on my journey to sort through my craft supplies and make cards again. I seem to be doing more crafting than purging but that's OK - at least I'm being productive in some small way :)
Have yourself the best possible day!

Turkey Time!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I knew I had to get busy with some cards to send out. I pulled out the Lawn Fawn Tiny Box die and Turkey/Peacock add-on dies to make this card. I die cut a pastel green pre-embossed panel with MFT stitched square dies to mat the white panel - which was embossed with a Darice ef and lightly colored with Derwent pencils. The turkey was assembled with snippets of cardstock and popped onto the main panel with foam dots. I added some clear Wink of Stella onto the snood just for fun. The die-cut stitched blue cloud was added to break up the dark green color of the card base. The fence was done with a Martha Stewart punch and the grass was die-cut with a Sweet 'n Sassy grass border die. The tiny leaves and acorn were negatives from an EK leaves border punch that I added just for fun. The stamped sentiment is from SU! Teeny Tiny Wishes (2009-10)

Since I had all the dies out, I figured I'd make a couple treat boxes too. One with wings up and one with wings down - since I couldn't decide which version I liked best 😜

Sharing with the following challenges:

NBUS Challenge #20 - lawn fawn turkey add-on dies

Retro Rubber Challenge #147 - a/g using stamps older than 1 year

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your day is a happy one for you!

Party Koala

I'm slacking with card making lately but life just happens I suppose.
Today I have a birthday card made with a Lawn Fawn Koala Party bear stamp/die set along with some of their papers. I paired the papers with a sheet of mustard colored card stock and used a simple design to showcase the fun papers. The final touch was to add 3 Taylored Expressions enamel dots in a turquoise color just for fun.

I'll share this with the following challenges:

Thanks for checking in with me today and I hope your week ahead is a good one!

Sign of the Times

This free, fun digital image by Elizabeth Dulemba recently arrived in my inbox and it sparked an idea to create a card. I printed it and colored it with Copics and made a few banners with some SU! Granny Apple Green designer paper, matting them all with black as I did with the main image. I added a few Taylored Expressions enamel dots just for fun. The card base is also Granny Apple Green.

This hilarious sentiment came to me in an email list of jokes and I just had to print it out for the inside of this card. It's one way to laugh at the current situation which has so many of us feeling less-than-chipper, so I'm sending this out to a friend who will probably get a good chuckle over it.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:

Double D Banner challenge - with the following mood board

Easter Lamb

Today I have a card made with an older SU! image called Easter Lamb that's from the 2016 Occasions mini catalog. I haven't used it often, but decided to make a few Easter cards with it this year. I stamped the image in smoky slate ink, coloring softly with Copics and adding lots of stickles and nuvo glitter drops to the fur just for a little sparkle. I die cut the panels with Lil Inker stitched rectangles and embossed the background with a Darice embossing folder. The final touch was a little twine bow along with a Sweet n Sassy stamped sentiment.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Retro Rubber Challenge #129 - anything goes (stamps must be older than 1 year)

Valentine

Today I have a little valentine to share as that special day is just around the corner and I need to finish making mine! This little bear is from Inky Antics, and he was colored with Copics and had his tail dotted with liquid applique before cutting and matting with Lil Inker stitched rectangle dies. The card base itself is die-cut with the Lil Inker stitched rectangles as well. The papers are from SU! and I used a Martha Stewart heart border punch along with a Lil Inker stitched die to cut the sentiment panel. I used a SU! Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set for the sentiment, heat-embossing it in white and called this one done.

I'll enter this into the following challenges:

Dies R Us challenge #138 - XOXO (hearts, love, valentine)

Lots of Hearts!

It's a new Year and time for the January Twofer #23 - with a theme of "hearts." I've chosen to make a valentine and "sending love" theme. I wish I could be more creative with the twofer as most are, but my brain always seems to make cards that are similar to each other, in spite of being different themes. I guess that comes from making duplicate cards for Operation Write Home for so many years, who knows?

I used Unity's "Alfie" stamp on each card, as well as the same CB embossing folder. I colored Alfie with Copics and used MFT stitched circle die cuts to give him a place to sit. The lower border was done with a SSS star parade die and some snippets of assorted red and white papers. The word "love" is a die cut from SSS and the white-embossed "sending you" on black was cropped from a Gerda Stein stamp. I added glossy accents to Alfie's heart and nose just for fun along with 3 tiny red heart-shaped gemstones from Recollections to the largest heart in the border. This card is going to a friend of mine who is battling for her life with liver cancer, and I think it's more meaningful than a get-well card under the circumstances.

I'm also entering this card into the Snippets Playground #369 - where you need to use snippets to make your card.

I will also enter this card into Pammies Inky Pinkies challenge #202 - which is "anything goes"

Here's the 2nd card of my twofer- a Valentine made with the same image and placed on some MFT die-cut banners. The vertical panel was done with a Martha Stewart heart border punch and a snippet of Recollections striped dsp, while the sentiment panel was die cut with a SU! Chalk Talk framelit die and heat-embossed with white using a Dr's Designs sentiment. I wrapped and tied some neutral twine and added a Recollections clear gemstone heart for some extra sparkle. Alfie's heart is covered with glossy accents to make it shine too.

I'm also going to enter this card into the Repeat Impressions Tic-Tac-Toe challenge J820 which uses the following grid:

The House That Stamps Built Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge J820

I used the center horizontal line of twine, sparkle, and die cut.

Also entering into the 34th 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge for January - where you must use a critter on your card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and make it a great day whatever you do!

Boo-Ya

This grumpy pug doesn't look like he's anticipating a very happy Christmas does he? LOL It's an image by Stamping Bella and I knew right away who I'd make this card for. We have relatives that have a chubby pug that never looks happy about much of anything LOL I colored the image with Copics, adding a Tim Holtz Santa hat with some liquid applique on the fur and die-cut it with a MFT stitched circle die. I made the sentiment panel with little wooden stick stamps - since I didn't have any stamp that seemed appropriate for this image. lol The dsp is all from a Fancy Pants Blissful Blizzard paper pad I've had for longer than I care to mention...yes, I'm a paper hoarder.  The little tab at the top was done with a (r) SU! mini banner punch and I added a SU! enamel dot in a matching color.

I'll share this with the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies December challenge - just use a critter on your creation.

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day!

It's Getting Cold Out!

I'm the first to admit it - I have a snarky sense of humor. When I recently spotted this new digi from Whimsy Stamps (by Dustin Pike) I had to have it! After printing it, I colored it with Copics, stamping some snowflakes with an older SU! stamp and added some Frosty Stickles to the bottom for some sparkly snow. I enhanced the er....um.....fart.......with some liquid pearls and stickles and die-cut the panel with a MFT stitched square die. I stamped some white snowflakes on the kraft card base, adding a dot of Stickles to the visible one for some sparkle. I die-cut the sentiment panel with a Chalk Talk framelit die from SU! and called this one done.

I had a request for some snarky cards from a customer, so I made another card with this image.

For this one, I used some Island Indigo card stock, and some retired SU! dsp. I used a snowflake punch from Martha Stewart to make the snowflake which I covered with Wink of Stella and adhered with a foam dot. I fussy cut one of the images from the dsp and adhered it to the top along with a frosty clear gem. The banners were done with a retired SU! mini punch using the flip side of the dsp and adorned with more frosty gemstones. The sentiment is slightly different from the first card, as the letters are outlined, so I colored them in with a blue glitter pen.

I'm entering the first card into the following challenges:

Cardz4Guyz#233 - Icy Cold

Cuttlebug Mania - Animals

I'll enter the second card into

the  2 CraftyCritterCrazies November challenge - use a critter on your card

Thankful for You

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I wanted to share a card I made for that occasion.
I need to use the snippets of dsp I've accumulated for so long, and today's card makes use of some very old SU! papers. I used a Gerda Steiner image, adding a little Thanksgiving pie and a SNSS sentiment. The tag is a die cut by Lawn Fawn, embossed with a SU! stencil, and some Brutus Monroe glitter paste (that glows in the dark!) I added some twine and some enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs and called this one done.

(Regarding the issues I've been having adding photos here on blogger - I discovered that when I click the icon to add photos and the next window opens, if I continue to repeatedly click the UPLOAD button, the "choose files" option eventually does appear below and I'm able to upload photos. I also discovered through trial and error that if I open a second window of my blog while keeping the first one open, when I click the "add photo" icon, the "choose files" option appears every time as it always did, so those two things work for me. I hope that helps some of you having the same issues I'm having in getting photos posted)

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Monday!

New Home Card

Friends of mine recently sold their home and moved and this is the card I made for them as they settled into their new home. The little mouse made himself comfy cozy in that giant flower blossom and took a little snooze. I kept this one simple, coloring with Copics, cutting with Little Inker stitched rectangle dies and layering with green and gold colors to match the flower. The sentiment is from Avery Elle.

I'm sharing this with the House-Mouse & Friends Monday challenge #301 - anything goes with an option of "outdoor fun."

Also sharing with 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge #31 - anything goes but you must use a critter on your creation

Thanks for stopping by and I hope the first day of October has been a good one for you. Our summer has been extended a few more days and we're expecting temperatures to hit 92F tomorrow! Unheard of!

Happy Halloweenie

Last year I made 2 Halloween cards using this Tim Holtz crazy dog, but I only posted one, so today I'm sharing the other one. The colors are slightly different, but the design is the same. The sponged panel was done with a Tim Holtz "shattered" stencil in Halloween colors, and the spider is from SU! The scalloped purple border was done with a SNSS die. and the sentiment was computer generated

I'm entering this into the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge #30
