Butterflies, Butterflies....

I'm back with my 2nd post today. Scroll down for some exciting news on the previous post. The Memory Box butterflies were die cut with pearl white and black card stock and layered on a SNSS scalloped border die, as well as a SB labels 18 die. The ribbon was from my stash. For the background, I stamped some daffodil cardstock with a SU! retired weathered stamp in Versmark, then heat embossed it with white pearl ep. The sentiment is from MFP, and the candi dots are from SU! in basic grey. I'm entering this into the following challenges:

The Card Concept #11 - a Color Challenge to use black, yellow, white and grey

This card was made for the Butterfly Challenge #8 which has a Bingo grid to follow. I used the top left diagonal line to use Pink, Butterflies, and dry embossing. I used a Darice corner butterfly ef, and just added my own butterflies on top of the embossed ones in 3 shades of pink, using 2 different Punch-A-Bunch butterfly punches. I added some tiny black gems to each butterfly, and a SU! salutation, and this card was done!

A New Favorite Color Combination

The Card Concept #11 is a color challenge to use black, yellow, grey, and white. This has become a favorite color combination of mine lately, so playing along with this challenge was fun! I went for a clean & layered design, using a Hero Arts chevron embossing folder on some daffodil cardstock, and a snippet of a soft yellow plaid dsp along with some light grey cardstock. The card base is a textured black. The sentiment is by Penny Black, and I added a few black gems, along with 1 yellow gemstone to dot the "i." The sentiment was put on  SB petite ovals, and I pierced the scallops for fun. The twine is from Lawn Fawn and now I have another birthday card added to my stash.

Coffee!!

The challenge at the Card Concept #10 is a coffee theme. I used a House Mouse stamp for my card, coloring with Copics and using some SU! coastal cabana dsp. I matted with some baked brown sugar card stock and added 2 snippets of burlap ribbon, and that's all this card needed! There's no room for a sentiment but the image pretty much says it all. I think this falls into the "clean & layered" category.

Are you prepared for the 80% increase in coffee prices coming soon?! I'll have to mortgage the house in order to have my morning cup of coffee pretty soon! LOL

for Mom

With Mother's day just a few days away, I have a card to share done in shades of purple & lavender. The background was embossed with a SU! ef, and the papers were from a stack I've had for years. The cover is long gone, so I have no idea who the mfr. is, sorry. The main image was done with an old CB ef and I matted it with some eggplant card stock that was punched on one side with a SU! border punch. I added mini brads to the flower centers and a piece of SU! eggplant ribbon, made into a flat "bow" that doesn't require extra postage. The sentiment is by Verve.

Clean & Graphic Thank You

Here's my entry for the Card Concept #9 challenge which is to make a monochromatic purple card. I used elegant eggplant and plum cardstock, die cutting diamond shapes, and adding a simple Hero Arts sentiment stamped in elegant eggplant ink. For the finishing touch, I added 3 tiny gemstones for a little interest. I'm calling this one "clean & graphic."

Clean and Layered Butterfly

I made this butterfly image many moons ago, but finally got around to using it on a card! I'd found a technique way back then to use a magazine page by stamping & embossing on it, so that's how this butterfly image came to be. I don't even know what butterfly stamp I used or if I even still have it. I hand cut it around the edges and adhered it to a gray piece of cardstock, and brushed the edges with a Versamark ink pad and embossed them with matching silver ep too. I used a couple pieces of matching cardstock with some black and mauve ribbon and called this one done!

I'm entering this into the Card Concept challenge #7 which is to use a butterfly. I suppose this could be considered "clean and layered" for the challenge.

Soft Yellow Color

I made this pale yellow & white birthday card with 2 Memory Box butterfly dies, the Vivienne and Darla. I used a pearlized white card stock and some pastel yellow textured cardstock. The background was embossed with a SU! Decorative Dots ef, and I added a SB fancy tags two shapeability die for the sentiment. The small layered butterflies were done with Punch-a-Bunch punches. The ribbon is SU! daffodil. I'm thinking that tiny butterfly might look better with a tiny pearl in the center?

The snow pretty much fizzled out for our area in PA yesterday and it turned out to be just a very light dusting. Am I grateful? You bet I am! LOL My daffodils are up about 6" in the back yard in spite of a temperature of only 24 this morning, so spring must be on the way!

Birthday in Shades of Blue

I was in the mood to use the color blue so I pulled out some scraps of pretty blue papers, different colored blue ink pads and made this card. I used a Tim Holtz burlap stencil that I bought a while ago and never quite knew how to use it, so I just played with it until I created something I liked. I sponged 4 different blue inks on a piece of white, and turned it sideways to cut it out with a SB labels 18 die. I added a Cheery Lynn flourish, and flowers done with a Bella Bloom die from SSS. The background was done with a Tim Holtz bricked ef, and I added 2 jewel tags that were computer generated with the birthday sentiment. The blue gems are from Pizzazz Aplenty and the card base is a hoarded piece of card stock. The twine is from Whisker Graphics.

I'm entering this into the Card Concept #4 Floral theme challenge and I guess this could be considered freestyle collage. {I always have trouble figuring out what category my cards fit into}

I'm also entering this into the Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge #2 which is to use the following photo for inspiration and dig into our hoarded stash to create a card. I'd say without a doubt I hoard paper more than anything - with embossing folders running a close 2nd!

Pink & Red Valentines

Here's a quick and easy CAS Valentine I made using bubblegum pink cardstock and some pale pink twisted twine. I used a SNSS border die, and MB precious hearts dies and SU! punches. I'm taking this card over to the Card Concept #3 which is to use monochromatic pink. 

Here's another done with metallic wine-colored cardstock. I used a SU! hearts a flutter heart stamp & die, embossing in white, and layering over a punched heart. The border is by SNSS and the sentiment is by SU!, also embossed in white. This is for the Cards in Envy "Love is in the air" challenge To make love cards. I'm also entering both cards into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is to have a heart somewhere on your card.

Monochromatic Texture

Blogger must be frozen in this cold weather - it's taking about 5 minutes to load a page today! I feel like I'm back on dial-up again! LOL

Here's one more card made for a couple challenges. I used the Serendipity Mustang image again, coloring with Copic gray markers and mounting on SB petite oval dies. The embossed panel on the side was done with a SU! arrow ef, and I hand-cut some of the striped paper to fit into the embossed areas on one side. The center dsp is a negative from a diecut done with SU! dsp, and the thin silver ribbon is also SU! The sentiment was done with MFT stamps.

I'm entering this into the Cardz 4 Guyz Monochrome challenge, as well as the Card Concept #2 challenge which is to use "texture." I'm using the "clean & layered" style for my card.

Large Tag Card

Here's a card that will be going into my next OWH box. I used the sketch from MFTWSC159 and took the colors from the Card Concept challenge#1 to use the colors of kraft, pink, vanilla & espresso. This challenge also has several choices of card styles to choose from, and I'm thinking this one might be"clean and layered." I don't know if the embossing eliminates the "clean" look, but the card looked too plain without it. I think my brain is permanently programmed to layer everything I create.
The punched border and flowers were done with SU! supplies, while the sentiment is from H.A. The ef is by Cuttlebug and the pearls were from my stash.
