Christmas in July

It's been so hot I decided to start working on Christmas cards to cool myself off!
I dug through my stash and found this snippet of designer paper that had some pretty ornaments on it, so I built my card around it. I gave it 2 scalloped borders of red and green done with a (r) SU! Scalloped border punch. The background was done with a (r) SU! Snowburst ef, and the silver foil doily is also by SU!. The little tag was done with a stamp from the SU! Merry Everything set, heat-embossed with silver ep on white and cut with a matching (r) SU! punch; then popped up on foam dots. I added a twine bow, and 3 little gemstones and placed it all on a real red card base. The ornament on the top right is a dark green color, which is why I added green embellishments. I had to turn the card sideways to avoid the glare from the silver foil, so the colors aren't showing up as true to life. The tiny polka dots in the snippet background are also green, so it all works together with good lighting.

so I'll be linking my card there.

I'm also entering it here...

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great Wednesday!

Carol

This is a very delightful Christmas card! So festive with the silver doily and the red and green gems. Made me smile! Might be getting a thunderstorm soon, how about you? I do hope it actually rains so I don’t have to water the flowers.

That's a big bold piece of patterned paper and you've incorporated it into a card brilliantly. I like the little touches you add particularly the different coloured strips of cardstock, its subtle but looks so good x

What a fun sketch and a beautiful card Carol. I know, it's been so dang hot that not much to do but make Christmas cards to cool off. lol Not much relief in sight, might get a day or two and that's about it. That designer paper is fabulous and I can see why you used it. The scallop border on each side makes it pop even more. Love the tag and doily. The embossed background is so pretty too. Great take on the sketch! Hugs, Brenda

Maybe that is what I need to do to cool things down...LOL! Great job on the sketch. I like the 2 different scalloped borders. I think I have a ton of that dp left. I should drag it out of the closet, and give it a go.

Does this mean that if I start making a bunch of Christmas cards, things will cool off?! Please let that happen - it's much too hot down this way.
Love your pretty card and the color combination! Beautiful.
