Time Flies

I have a snarky birthday card today that makes use of some very unattractive dsp (in my opinion). It's got big alphabet letters in white on a black background and I had no clue what to do with it, so I took the challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers SOSS#40 "U is for ugly" and made a card with it. Of course I covered up most of it, but at least I used it! Ha! I hate to call anything "ugly", so I'll just say I don't find it appealing :)

The old time telephones were done with a Studio Calico stamp set and I heat-embossed one in gold while adding paint pen gold accents to the other. I cut the panels with Lil Inker stitched rectangles and tucked them behind a gold embossed panel with a snarky sentiment borrowed from my friend Mary Anne. I added 3 matching mini brads for the final touch.

I'm also sharing this at the Cards in Envy challenge which is to make a birthday card (A2 size with no bulky embellishments) as well as the Snippets Playground #189 (use snippets).

A Little "Green" for Father's Day

Here's the card I made for my husband for Father's day. I used a piece of retired SU! dsp along with some dark green cardstock and made a tag using a SU! punch. The "shirt" is a $20 bill folded into a shirt, and tied to the tag with some twine. I added an embossed SU! sentiment, rounded the corners and quickly tucked this one away so he won't see it until Father's day. At our ages, we don't need much of anything, so coffee money always pleases him, and I thought he might enjoy a fun, different way of getting some good old cash. 

 I used this tutorial to make the shirt from money.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms and Grandmothers out there! I hope your loved ones cherish you and let you know how much they love and appreciate you on your special day.

I made this card for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers SOSS#33  Monochromatic Mamma challenge - in other words, make a monochromatic Mother's day card. I left out the snark and made a nice card to celebrate this special day.

I used Bashful Blue colors, embossing the background with an Anna Griffin Treillage embossing folder and adding a framelit Chalk Talk die cut from SU! for the tag. The flowers were done with a SU! punch, and some tiny pearls from Pizzazz Aplenty were added to the centers. The sentiment is by Inkadinkado, and the ribbon is Bashful Blue from SU!

Black & White Thanks

Today I have a couple of quick and easy thank-you cards done with a black & white color scheme. I used a SU! scalloped top punch for the tag and rounded the bottom corners. I stamped the SU! sentiment and die cut it with a Lil Inker diagonal strip die, and affixed it to the tag, adding a punched flower with a little pearl in the center and some twine. The dsp was a random piece from my stash, and I'm not sure who makes it.

This one uses another SU! sentiment and some black & white twine, along with a piece of dsp from BG. I left the flower off to give this a more masculine feel.

Reward!

Today I have a card for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #31 - "J is for just kidding." This is a digital image by someone named Marlene who no longer blogs, but she shared lots of funny digi images that I still use. I paired this fisherman with an AI dog image, and added a row of mini punched fish. The dsp is retired SU! and the sentiment is one of those gems I borrowed from my friend Mary Anne. I sponged in some clouds and added a pawprint brad along with a brass mini brad. I added some white gel pen coloring to the fish, and dotted some eyes with a black marker.

Easter Fun

Today I'm sharing a fun Easter card that uses a free digital image I got from ScrapHappyPaperCrafter. I don't know if she's blogging anymore, but her blog is still up if you want to search for this fun image.

I colored it with Copics, and added a lime green panel that was embossed with SU!'s petals a'plenty, and added snippets of lavender dsp and a bold diamond patterned strip. I tied it all together with some matching gingham ribbon. This card is sure to bring a smile or two, as I cracked up as soon as I saw it :)

A Foxy Valentine

I've been experimenting with different colors to make Valentines for hospitalized kids, as I make them all year long. For this one I used some pastel grey dsp from Lawn Fawn along with some smokey slate cardstock from SU! The border was done with an EK bricked punch, and colored with a fluorescent Copic marker FYR1 to match the SU! "Hey Valentine" image. I used a MS heart border punch along with SU! scalloped tag and note tag punches, adding a "tab" with a heart-shaped brad. The diagonal panel was done with a Lil Inker diagonal stitched die and some matching dsp.

I can't make snarky cards for children, so I'm entering this over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers as a "nice" card. Their challenge #27 is "G is for Grey."

Did anyone catch the SNL 40th reunion last night? I've watched the show from the beginning, and it was great to see so many of the cast members reunited! Do you have a favorite? "The Californians" always cracked me up, but I loved the Spartans cheerleaders and the Lennon sisters spoofs too. Bill Hader & Fred Armisen both did a lot of characters that kept me in stitches all the time. It's been a great 40-year ride and I hope it goes on for many more years!

W is for "Wow, it's Cold!"

Today I have a card for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge - "W is for WOW it's Cold!" I used a SSS Wishing Trees die, cutting with dark green and a lighter green dsp. I added a stitched hillside done with a Lawn Fawn die, and added some sparkly stickles for snow. The lower border was done with a MS punch, and the tiny star is a negative from a SSS star border die. The sentiment is from SU!'s endless wishes and since Christmas is now behind us, you might as well be of good cheer, because who can stop the snow if Mother nature wants to bring it to us?? LOL

"T" is for Thanks

Today I have a thank-you card made for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge #20..."T" is for thanks. I embossed the background with a Hero Arts ef, and added 2 chopped down banners done with PTI dies. The sentiment panel was cut from the SU! Chalktalk framelit die set, while the banner is from SU!'s banner blast stamp set and bitty banner punch. I stamped a couple extra banners in red and island indigo, and then used a SU! mini star punch to make the matching stars randomly placed on the card. The final touch was a tiny clear gemstone added to the red star on the sentiment panel.

An Iconic Image

The challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #18 is "I is for Icon." I think a lot of wee ones consider Elmo an icon, right? I stamped and colored him with Copics and fussy cut him to pop up on foam tape on a yellow & white oval panel. The sentiment is from MFP, the paper is from Recollections, and the felt ric-rac is from my stash. Quick & easy for this one, but no snark this week :)

Hot Air

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge #17 is "D is for Distressing." I think the sister in this graphic is shocked after seeing the card I've made for the challenge. LOL If you can't handle snarky - turn away :)

I know this isn't typically the kind of card I make, but sometimes you've got to switch things up and have some snarky fun :) This card began with a stencil-embossed flame background that was painted with twinkling H20's to resemble nuclear gas :) I found this digi in my files that was made by an artist named Marlene who stopped drawing and blogging some time ago, but I kept a lot of her hilarious images that I still enjoy using. This image somehow fit that background perfectly as she's "poofing." :) I distressed the image, adding sooty looking ink to give it a scorched look, and then added a sentiment with the Dymo label maker. I have no idea who I can send this to, but I'm sure eventually the perfect occasion will provide a need :)

K is for Kraft

I needed to make a masculine birthday card for September, and I pulled out my SB Sprockets dies and got to work. The kraft panel was cut with a top note die, and embossed with a mini tiny circles stencil, then lightly sponged with antique linen ink. The cogs were cut with black, red, pacific point, and gold-embossed cardstock and adhered with assorted sized & colors of brads and glue. The red cog has a gold candi dot affixed to the center. The sentiment was done with Quickutz alpha dies.

Somebody Left the Gate Open!

I found this Darcie stamp set at a stamp convention earlier this year, and just love the sentiment and image! The dog was colored with Copics and I added some clouds to the sky with Tumbled Glass ink, then added lots of grass with 2 different SNSS grass dies and layered them up. The background was a piece of raspberry blue cardstock, embossed with a CB Decorative Rings ef. The little tennis ball was colored with fluorescent Copics.

Miss You

Here's my card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - "Let's Be Clear" - to use something clear on your card. I used a strip of clear acrylic packaging that I saved and ran through the Big Shot with a Cuttlebug ef. To anchor it onto the poppy panel, I attached it with mini brads. I used a SU Summer Silhouettes stamp for the image, heat embossing it with clear ep, then sponging it with red, orange and yellow pigment inks. The sentiment is from CAS-ual Friday stamps, and I added 3 more mini brads to the image panel. The dsp is retired SU! pure poppy.

I'm also entering this into the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #12 - "B is for brads or buttons." There's no snarky this time around......I'm being nice instead :)

Ribbons and a Critter

My friend Mary Anne loaned me a cute stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps to make Valentine's for next year. Among those in the set was this cute wagon. It comes with a pile of hearts to put in the wagon, but I opted to put this cute little Art Impressions dog in the back instead! The sentiment is from a G studio $1 stamp set I've had for eons and it just seemed perfect for the expression on this chihuahua's face :)

I colored the image with Copics, added some PTI red bitty box dsp and PTI enchanted evening cs. The die is from SNSS and the ribbons are from PTI and Pizzazz Aplenty. The yellow stars were cut from snippets of cardstock in my bin. I had a few stars left over, so I randomly stuck them on the card to fill in the white spaces.

SOSS #8 - C is for "Crap"

Hello everyone, and welcome to my post as a guest designer for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge  SOSS#8. The challenge this week is "C is for Crap." We're challenging you to use something you just had to buy, but have seldom used it since you bought it. I know most of us can relate to that challenge, and I know I'm among those numbers! LOL

For my card, I've used some glossy cardstock I bought perhaps 10 years ago, and it still sits in my stash, practically unused. I was recently inspired by this card, and decided to pull out that glossy cardstock and use it again. The stamp is by Tim Holtz, and I will never part with this stamp as it makes beautiful cards! I stamped the image with Versamark Black ink, and heat embossed it with clear ep. I sponged with tangergine, turquoise, and finally daffodil inks, then stamped some birds, butterflies, and a dragonfly with brilliance platinum planet ink for a hologram look. I'd been to a craft show recently that used this technique and the cards were beautiful!

The sentiment is by Studio Calico and the feather is from Memory Box.

I could make this a nice masculine birthday card with a birthday sentiment inside, or I could make it snarky by splattering some white ink inside with a sentiment like "And so do the birds...." Hah! I think I'll wait until it's time to use it and then decide on the inside sentiment!

I made this mother's day card for a friend, and I'm entering it into the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge #7 - "Y is for your Mama!" I used some beautiful embossed dsp from the Violet Crush paper pad, along with some eggplant cardstock, ribbon, and a few paper flowers. The 2 largest flowers were done with a SU! punch and die, while the sentiment panel was done with a SP die too. I added a gemstone brad to the center, and some plum colored pearls to the sentiment

Just Horsin' Around

I have a card to share with you today that just evolved on it's own. I didn't have anything in mind when I stamped this fun Lindy's Stamp Gang horse image, but everything just came together once I decided to add some sequin stars from my stash. The sentiment was computer generated because this horse looks like he's doing a dance with stars instead of a partner! LOL The dsp background has been in my stash since my scrapbooking days, and I added a few banner tabs with a SU! punch. I colored the image with Copics, and embossed the lower panel with a SU! decorative dots ef.

What's Cookin'?

I made this joy-fold card for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge "F is for fancy fold." There's my favorite critter again - Cocoa mouse from SNSS. The papers, flowers and card stock are all from SU! in cherry cobbler and crumb cake. The red bling is from Pizzazz Aplenty. The little circle with a flower in the left-hand corner holds the card closed.

Here you can see how the card folds. There's one dimensional on the closure embellishment, while the other end is open to slip the corner of the card front behind it. I left the inside blank for now, but I could make it very snarky for a friend who hates to cook by adding something like "Roadkill?"  LOL  I'm open to any suggestions, so feel free to add one in a comment :)

Time for an Irish Jig

Happy St. Patrick's day to all my Irish and non-Irish friends! It's the perfect day to do a little jig while you're wearing the green!

I used a Crafty Moments free digital image that was already colored, and I knew it would make a perfect card for today! Those dancing pigs cracked me up, so I computer generated the sentiment just for fun. Will Smith released a silly rap song with those words a long time ago, and as soon as I saw the image, that song popped into my head. I paired the image with some green and navy cardstock, embossing the navy panel with a plaid ef, of course! The ribbon was from my stash and I added a few gemstones from Pizzazz Aplenty.

I'll enter this card into the Cards in Envy anything goes challenge, as well as the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge #3 - P is for Paddy.
