Let's Squash It! #22

Hello everyone, today I'm guest designing for the Let's Squash It! Challenge #22 which is to "keep it CAS." while using any embossing folder.

I used an older SU! folder called Elegant Bouquet and enhanced it with some pastel Copic markers in yellow and green, dotting the flower centers with a brown Copic. The sentiment is by Sweet 'n Sassy from an older stamp set I've had for years.

If you're anything like me, I'm sure you have a good collection of embossing folders, and I hope you'll find some time to play along. I look forward to seeing your creations!

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day!

Father's Day

I pulled out a piece of teal colored designer paper and embossed it with a Spellbinder's Kickin' Rubber embossing folder, then sanded it for a rustic look. I stamped the boots from SU!'s Country Living (r) stamp set, then colored them with Copics and fussy cut them to place on the stitched square die. I dug into my stash to find this SU! hodgepodge hardware ribbon piece, and attached it to the side; adding a snippet of tan checked ribbon. The sentiment is from SU!'s Teeny Tiny Wishes, heat-embossed with gold, and placed on a die-cut Lil Inker stitched banner.
This card is for my husband who had a pony as a kid, and horses as an adult (many years ago) but he still has a love for horses, so I stamped this horse image on the inside...

That's a very old but favorite horse image stamp by Serendipity, stamped in Smoky Slate ink on a Soft Stone card base.

I'll enter this card into the following challenges:

Time Flies

Today I have a birthday card that took a total of 6 hours to create. Oy! I carefully cut several strips of designer paper snippets to create a herringbone background, then die-cut it with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle before embossing it with a CB Clockworks embossing folder. I also die-cut the card base with a larger Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. The Impression Obsession clock was die-cut from several colors, meticulously adding all the negatives into their corresponding slots to create the multi-colored clock. I mounted the clock onto a die-cut black circle, then attached it to the card. I added 2 die-cut mini butterflies and placed them on either side of the clock and  added a Studio Calico stamped sentiment. The only problem is, I stepped back to take a photo of it and realized I'd glued the clock image onto the card upside down! DERRR😖 My hubby looked at it and said "just send it, nobody will notice." The only problem with that is that I noticed and couldn't let it be. So I put it down for a day and gave it some thought. I decided to die-cut another clock and glue it right over top of the original one so that the time spent on this wouldn't be a total loss! That also explains why this card took so long to put together! I added some mini red gemstones to the butterflies and sentiment to give this a little sparkle. I put the birthday sentiment inside. At my age, time truly does fly - especially when you're spending so much time making ONE card! LOL

I'll share this with the following challenges:

The Snippets Playground #428 - must use snippets

Let's Squash It #20 - let's squash those scraps!

Can You Handle the Pressure - Must use an embossing folder
A/G with an optional twist of using flowers

Allsorts Challenge Week 676 - A/G add some sparkle

Seize the Birthday #238 - Faux or Real Stitching

Dies R Us Challenge #193 - A/G using dies sold in their store (I.O)

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for laughing with me at my oops! moment too! Life's too short to cry over mistakes. Better to laugh and move on, but hopefully the next card won't take so long to put together! 😄

Have a great day!

Shimmery Anniversary Card

Today I have a card that makes use of a couple new items. The anniversary sentiment was done with a new die from Kat Scrappiness using black and a bit of SSS pre-embossed woodgrain white cardstock. The embossed panel was done with a new Memory Box Open Studio "Blooming" embossing folder. I used a piece of shimmery, sparkly cardstock from an old paper pad but I love how it turned out.

Here's a close-up, and if you click the photo, you can see the embedded glitter in the paper. It really has a beautiful sparkle but it's hard for the camera to capture that feature. I added 2 heart-shaped gems for the finishing touch and that's all this card needed.

Just for You

I pulled out a very old Rubber Stampede stamp called Woman in Repose to make this card. I stamped the image with Memento London Fog ink on a piece of pastel yellow cardstock to match the card base. I found a piece of dark grey script dsp from Recollections and used that for the background. I used 3 embossing folders on this card. The card base was done with a CB Pinking Stitch to give it that pretty edge. The Smoky Slate verticle strip was done with another very old CB strip ef. I also embossed a yellow panel, fussy cut the flowers and glued them on top of the grey embossed panel, adding 3 basic grey enamel dots to the centers. I used a SU! square lattice ef on the 2 accent flowers at the bottom that were done with 2 different punches, adding 2 more grey enamel dots. The sentiment panel was done with a SU! Chalk Talk framelit die and SU! teeny tiny wishes.

I'll enter this into these challenges:

Window Box

Sorry for the shadowy photo - it's a cloudy day and I don't have a light box.
I used some SSS lemon cardstock along with a SU! Window Box Thinlet die to cut the box, then simply used a SU! petals 'a plenty embossing folder to make squares for the sides. I dotted the flower centers with a gold paint pen, then tied up a pretty piece of yellow satin ribbon on top.
I haven't attached a sentiment yet but I think I'm going to make this a mother's day treat box for a thoughtful friend.

I'm sharing this with the Let's Squash It Challenge #6

We're to make or recycle a box and use floral embossing.

That's it for me today. It's raining and dark and cloudy, so I will be finding things to do in my craft room today.
Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day whatever you do!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's day so I'm sharing some heart projects to convey that love! I used a SU! embossing folder (retired) to create this card, adding a SSS small doily heart, a piece of ribbon and a love sentiment done on a Lil Inker stitched banner die. I kept it simple but all the hearts just make me smile.

Also sharing with the Let's Squash It Challenge #5 -Use a love-themed embossing folder and the color red/pink

This year I stamped all my Valentine envelopes with this Repeat Impressions Love Post stamp in the bottom corner or on the envelope flap.

I made some treat containers for Valentine's day too. I made a few square pillow boxes with a die from SU! and covered them with some dsp I bought at Tuesday Morning several years ago. The dsp already has the hearts cut out so it seemed perfect for these little boxes. I added tags done with a SU! note tag punch and added a SSS bunny Hugs die in coordinating colors. I turned one tag over so you can see the sentiment that's on the back. As usual, I discovered another mistake after taking the photo. I folded the bottom of the box on the left with the wrong flap out, but I fixed it before it was delivered. 😏

I made a few sour cream boxes too with SU! retired papers, and used a MFT tiny tag die with a little white heart.

Last but not least I made a couple of these tiny treat bags using SU! retired papers and a SU! scalloped top punch. The hearts were random bits I found in my snippets box and I tied these little bags up with white raffia ribbon.

Wishing you all a very happy and love-filled Valentine's day.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hearts for Valentine's Day

Here's another Valentine I made with the SSS cute little Bear Hugs die. I started with a pink card base and added a piece of large polka dot pink and white paper. I started stamping tiny hearts all over it with Platinum Planet ink, but when they didn't show up too well, I stamped a few small circles too which improved the overall look a bit more. The hearts were done with a set of nested, stitched heart dies and I embossed the white heart with a Sunny Studios ef which has itty bitty hearts on it. The little bear was die cut with kraft and red, swapping out the little heart and ears with the red. The Happy Heart Day sentiment is from a long-retired SU! set, heat embossed with white on black, then die-cut with a Lil Inker stitched die.

I'm sharing this with these challenges:

Musical Poinsettia

I recently had a request to make a couple Christmas cards for someone, and this is one of them. I used a Spellbinders Poinsettia set of dies to create the flower, adding some yellow gemstones to the center. I embossed the background with a KaiserCraft music embossing folder and wrapped it with some retired gold SU! ribbon, then added a KaiserCraft die-cut Christmas sentiment from gold mirror card and called this one done!

I'll share this with the following challenges:

Let's Squash It Challenge #3 -  use any embossing folder and dies (or fussy cutting)
