A Sketch for my Peeps!

Here's the great sketch from OWH's Stars and Stamps challenge #58 found here.
And this is the Easter card that I created by using that sketch. For this one I used all dp from a Memory Box collection called "enchanted." The chicks and sentiment were stamped with a G Studio stamp I found at Michaels for $1. All I did was add a piece of ribbon and this card was done!
I thought I'd throw this one in just for laughs :) I already sent this one in to OWH and it's a free digi image Sandy offered on her blog here. Isn't that sentiment hilarious? I just embossed the dollar store dp with the larger spots Cuttlebug ef and added some glossy accents to the bowtie and hair ribbon after coloring with markers, and then did a little piercing. Thanks for this FUN free image Sandy.....along with all the others! I know someone is going to smile when they receive this card!!
And thanks for stopping by on this beautiful Sunday! I hope you have a great day!

Food for Thought

Here's the Sweet Stop sketch#97 for this week. I'm combining this fun sketch with MFP Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge #44 which is to use food on our cards.
I used all SU! Concord Crush and Pear Pizazz inks and papers for this one. The image is a retired CTMH set and I'm sorry, there's no name on the stamps so I don't know what the set is called. I stamped the grapes with Concord Crush ink, and masked it to stamp the leaves which were inked with Pear Pizazz and enhanced with a darker Tombow marker. I added glossy accents over the entire image and IRL it looks pretty neat, but the picture just didn't capture those details. I used a retired SU! backgrounder called weathered, and stamped that in PP ink. The sentiment is by HA and the ribbon was in my stash. The gemstones are by Kaiser.
Happy weekend everyone, I hope you enjoy yours and do something fun!!!

SCS QFTD#49 - for RedBugDriver

My card today is for this week's QFTD#49 challenge over on SCS. This week's queen is known as RedBugDriver/aka Karen. I've been making these vellum flowers lately, so when I found this card in her gallery, I decided to take my inspiration from there.
I found a scrap of kraft and punched it with MS's arch lattice and added these royal purple vellum hydrangea flowers - all done with 2 MS punches and a stencil pen. I created the leaves by folding the green vellum, and running through the crimper and cutting by hand. The ef is the Texture Fades brick wall, and the sentiment was done with Nesties labels 10. I added some lavender gemstones for interest.
For those of you interested in making these flowers, Selma has a great tutorial here that I found in Karen's link, so I thought I'd share it with you. I was given a pack of multi-colored vellum by someone several years ago, and I've been using it a lot lately, making these beautiful flowers. It feels good to put my stash to good use after sitting around taking up space for such a long time!
We're in for some wicked wind later this afternoon and power outages are predicted, so I'm glad I could get this card posted before the nasty weather rolls in!
Have a great Friday and thanks so much for stopping in, it's always great to see you!

Blushing Grey

My card meets 2 challenges today.......the WT311 to use the color grey, and the StampinB's #99 to use a flower on your card. I used another long-unloved backgrounder stamp, called Polka Dot by SU! and stamped the dots with Color Box white ink. The sentiment is by SU! done in basic grey. The flower was made by punching 3 scalloped circles and distressing them before attaching them together. I used blushing bride DP for each layer, using a different pattern of the same color. I finished it off with a scalloped border, a metal brad and some narrow satin ribbon.
I hope you're having a great Thursday today and thanks for making my blog a stop on your rounds !

A Two-fer!

Today's card is for two challenges. I played along with the SC321 sketch and I'm also entering this into the OWH Stars and Stamps MWT challenge, which is any occasion/anything goes. For this card I used some things that have been sitting around collecting dust for years! The green & white checkered prima flowers were in a mixed jar of primas I bought at a convention about 5 years ago. I never quite knew what to do with them because of the checkered design. Using the faux pressed flower technique really tones them down and makes them easier to use. I pulled out some punched scalloped squares in navy, added the flowers with glue stick, then ran them through the Big Kick with a SU! lattice square embossing folder. The brads have been in my stash since I first began scrapbooking eons ago. The white embossed panel is a Tim Holtz Damask texture fades ef, and the ribbon is white satin. The sentiment and stars are by Hero Arts, done in Night of Navy and Memento New Sprout inks. This card was very simple to create, and I love that I was able to use things that have been unloved for so long!
I hope you're all having a great Wednesday!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Flower Power!

Happy Tuesday everyone! It's time for another Crazy4Cocoa challenge. It's our 13th challenge and this week's theme is flower power........add flowers to your card or creation. I used the Egg-cited Cocoa digital stamp for this card and printed it on cryogenic paper, coloring with Copics. I used DP from the Making Memories Gossamer collection, adding flowers I've had in my stash forever. I used some blush and light green Kaiser pearls for the flower centers, and on the larger flower, I used a tiny sheer bow with a pearl that I've kept with my scrapbooking supplies for ages. The sentiment by G Studio was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and cut with a Spellbinders Fancy tags die, then threaded with 2 sheer green and pink ribbons. Sorry the ribbon photographed like brown, but I guess pink and green mixed together do make brown don't they? LOL IRL, you can see the colors much better.
I hope you'll grab your Cocoa images and come play along with us this week. We always love to see what you create, and there's a nice prize at the end of the month for those who play along!
Have a terrific Tuesday and thanks for stopping by!

Here's One for the Girls!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm happy to share with you today that I've been asked to join the DT for the StampsRUs challenge blog recently, and this will be my first post for them. I'm so excited to be joining this great team, and I look forward to working with all of you great ladies.
The challenge #15 for today has a theme of "One for the Girls" and this week we're being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs.

I'm using a Sassy Studio Designs teacher digi image for my card today. I colored the image with Copics and used DP from a back to school pack from Imaginisce. The pencil sticker, A+ brad, and ribbon were all from the same pack. I added the acrylic ABC's to the top and added some Glossy accents to the teacher's apple. I used a SU! spiral punch for the lined notebook paper and the stamped images on that panel were done with a CTMH set. The tiny brown paper clip is from my stash. I hope there's a teacher somewhere who will enjoy receiving this card!
I hope you'll click the link above (or the badge on my sidebar) and join us for this challenge. You'll have 2 weeks to complete and enter your card! Come over and check us out, and play along. We'd love to see your creations!!
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a great Monday!

Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #57

This is today's sketch for the OWH Stars & Stamps challenge #57. Earlier this morning I cleaned my craft table and made time to create a couple cards using this sketch.
This card uses Basic Grey Two Scoops paper, and the sentiment and ribbon are by SU!. I added piercing to the panels for a little interest and a heart-shaped pink gemstone is covering the letter "O" in the word mother. I used Nestabilities to cut the circles and Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiment from SU!'s Whimsical Words.
For this one I used DP from a paper pack by Karen Neuburger which has pretty shades of lavender and soft brown. I added a layered butterfly (punched in brown and lavender) using a MS punch, and added some SU! taffeta ribbon. I finished this one off with some Kaiser lavender pearls.
Thanks for dropping in to say "hello" and I wish you all a wonderful week ahead!

Two Saturday Challenges

I made this card for Speedy the Cat's Friends Challenge #43 found here. Joanne challenges us this week to use black, white and one other color, along with piercing on our cards. Check, check, check, and check! I used the Cuttlebug leafy branch embossing folder for the background, and used Gable Green cardstock for my pop of color. The sentiment is from the Thankful Pumpkins & Mums set by MFP. I used the labels ten die and created a twisted ribbon rose for an accent. I snipped some matching polka dot ribbon for "leaves" and added a big honkin' button to the center :) The button might be too big for this card, but it was the only black button I could find! LOL
Next up is my card for the Sweet Stop Sketch #96 found here. I really like this sketch and I'll be using it often!
For my card I used the Sweet 'n Sassy digi image called Lilacs for Cocoa. I colored him with Copics and used all Basic Grey Kioshi papers. I created the flower accents by using the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punches (the large single flower, along with the medium & small combination) and punched some pink, green and purple vellum. I added some light lavender color to the pink flowers with a Copic, then layered them and added stickles to the centers. I also added lavender stickles to the flowers on the image. Since the spin on this week's sketch challenge is a think spring theme, I added the Mother's Day sentiment by G studio, and I colored it with Marvy markers before stamping. I layered it with a diecut from the Spellbinder Lotus set.
That's it for me today. Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by. They'll fire 'em up in Daytona tomorrow - the first official Sprint Cup NASCAR race of the year, and I'm SO ready for that! For all my fellow NASCAR fans out there - enjoy!!! I know I'll be tuned in!!!

Using Scraps

There are times when I emboss an A2 sized piece of cardstock, and then only use a portion of it for the card I'm working on, which leaves a lot of odds and ends of embossed pieces. This layout was from a recent sketch challenge I did, and it's perfect for those embossed pieces that might otherwise get thrown away. I stamped a scrap of plain white cardstock with Versamark, and embossed it with gold, then cut it into strips that I used to divide the panels. I also did the same thing around the edges of the sentiment mat, and embossed the sentiment with gold as well. This was quick and easy and I'll be making more of them. The embossing was done with the SU! lattice square, the Texture Fades damask, and a Sizzix ef. A little ribbon and gold beads completed this one!
I hope you're having a fabulous Friday! It's going to feel like spring outside today with highs near 70, but then there's a chance of snow again on Tuesday! I'll be enjoying the warm weather while it's here!! Thanks for stopping by!!

OWH Mid-Week Throwdown

The midweek throwdown challenge over at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog this week is to create a masculine card. I used scraps of grey and black, and added a piece of DP from the Making Memories Wedding stack. I embossed the black panel with a Tim Holtz texture fades embossing folder (brick wall) and added black brads to the corners of the main image. The image is by Stampscapes, and was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Tim Holtz gunmetal distress embossing powder (ep). After embossing, I realized the distress ep had a few flecks of glitter in it, so I covered the entire image with the Versamark pad and added clear detail embossing powder to completely encase the loose glitter. It won't fleck off now, that's for sure! The sentiment is from the SU! set wonderful favorites and it was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
That's another card for my OWH box that I hope to mail out within the next week. I hope you're enjoying your middle-of-the-week so far. Thanks for stopping in and I'll be back again soon!

Crazy4Cocoa Challenge#12

It's Tuesday and time for another Crazy4Cocoa challenge! This week it's a color challenge and the colors are purple, green and yellow. I used bold shades of all the colors and used a color block design for the layout. This digi image is called Flowers from Cocoa. I colored Cocoa with Copics and used the Labels ten dies for the image. The bottom layer is Concord Crush, as well as the sentiment panel, and the green and yellow are from the Paper Company stack. The ribbon is from my stash and the bow was done with the Bow-easy. The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado stamper and done with a SU! word window punch.
I hope you have time to grab your Sweet'nSassy Cocoa images and play along with us. As always, there's a prize up for grabs at the end of the month, so click here and come join in on the fun! We'd love to see what you create!
Take care and have a terrific Tuesday and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Happy Valentine's day everyone! I thought today would be a good time to post the last of my Valentine cards, so I have a couple to share with you. First up is this fun PB image that a friend shared with me. I colored it with Tombows and an aqua brush, adding glossy accents to the hearts. The sentiment is from Sweet'nSassy stamps with a little heart stamped under the word "heart" using a stamp from the SU! Yummy set. The metal clip looked better without attaching it to the side, so adhered it flat and added a piece of pink glittered ribbon. The DP is by BoBunny and I used some scraps of chocolate brown textured cardstock for the mat and sentiment.
Here are a couple of gift tags I made for little Valentine gifts. They have their own little envies too. The tag on the left was made with a stamp I found on sale at my LSS for a whopping 33 cents! It's by SU! but I have no idea what set it belongs to. I added some stickles and heart brads, and punched the heart border with an EK punch. The 2nd uses a retired SU! set and I embossed the image on red cardstock and used white ep. These make cute gift enclosures for flowers or candy for that special someone :)
Wishing you and your loved ones a fabulous Valentine's day today. May you all feel loved and cherished by that special someone in your life :) I hope you all know how special you are to me too!!!

Three Sketch Challenges

This is going to be a long read as I'm posting 3 challenge cards today. First up is the challenge at Speedy the Cat's Friend's challenge #42 which is a sketch. Sorry, I wasn't able to copy the sketch, but if you click the link above, you'll find it there. I used all Bo Bunny Jazmyne dp for this, and an image from the SU! set Ever After.
Here is the fun sketch from The Sweet Stop SSS95......
And here is the card I made for that sketch. I made more of the vellum punched flowers using a MS hydrangea punch and added some liquid pearls to the centers. For this one I used SU! Afternoon Tea DP. Those little doo-dads on the bottom are starburst punches with a dot of liquid pearls in the centers. The sentiment was done with a G Studio stamp, and matted on a piece of Soft Sky cardstock.
And here is the card I created. The image is from Sweet'nSassy stamps called Patriotic Cocoa. I think this image is just perfect for making OWH cards for soldiers! I colored the image with Copics and used some basic red, white, and blue card stock, adding a few tiny star brads and embossing the background, using a Cuttlebug star embossing folder.
If you're still with me after this long post I appreciate it! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous Sunday!

Spring is in the Air!

The StampinB's challenge#97 this week is to use a bird on our cards. For my card, I dug into my pile of scraps once again. The blue panel was pre-made at Christmas for matchbook covers and never used, so I used it here rather than throw it away. The flowers were punched from a scrap of pink vellum with 2 Martha Stewart hydrangea punches, colored with Copics and after layering, were dotted with perfect pearls. The branch was stamped with a retired SU set using memento cocoa ink, stamped off once. The bird was done with the SU bird punch, and I added some glossy accents to the robin's red breast. The wings were run through the SU lattice square ef for a little texture, and the sentiment was colored with markers before stamping. Spring flowers and a robin.......if that doesn't put you in the mind of spring, than I give up! LOL

Nascar starts their new season with the Bud Shootout Saturday night, and the big Daytona race is next week - so I'm doing the happy dance!! I can't wait to hear those words again.........."gentlemen........start your engines! " Woot!! Go Tony!!

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Love is in the Air over at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!

If you visit my blog regularly, perhaps you've seen the badge on my sidebar announcing the first ever customer blog hop for Sweet 'n Sassy stamps. Well it all begins today! If you have some Sweet'nSassy stamps and a blog, you're invited to play and hop along! Everyone who posts a card for the hop will receive a free digi stamp (TBA), and there will be a randomly-drawn grand prize of a $25 shopping spree at Sweet'nSassy stamps that will be awarded on Valentine's day! Click the link above or the badge on the sidebar for all the details. You must use Sweet'nSassy stamps and sentiments for this blog hop, and you must post your card to your blog, not a gallery.
For my card I chose the new Melanie Mouse colored digi. This was the first time I tried using a colored digi, and I have to admit that I really liked using it! I added a touch of color to it with Copics, but it really streamlined the card-making process to have the major work done for me. I used some negative die-cuts that were heart-shaped and strung them together to mirror Melanie's string of hearts. They're all popped up with tiny pieces of foam tape and adhered to the edges with glue. The sentiment is from Sweet'n Sassy's Valentine's day Greetings digital stamp set. I added a few heart stickers to the sentiment panel for a little sparkle and also added some sponging to the main image with a very light pink ink to match it with the DP colors. This card didn't take much time at all to create......with the exception of the chain of hearts! That took a bit of patience to put together, but I'm pleased with the result!
You have until 9 PM this Sunday to enter your card in the blog hop, so what are you waiting for? Come along and join in the fun! I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration as you hop-along with us :)
Have a super Friday and a great weekend!

MFP Speedy the Cat's Friends #41

The challenge over at SPeedy the Cat's Friends #41 challenge this week is to use a self-made flower on your project. For my flower I used some SU! newsprint dp and punched 3 scalloped circles. I added some color to them with tattered rose and fired brick distress inks, then snipped each scallop about halfway into the center. Finally I curled the "petals" and twisted and crushed them in my hands until I got the look I was going for. I folded some creamy brown cardstock, then ran it through a crimper, and hand cut the leaves. For the final touch I used some silver spray smooch for a little interest. All of the DP is from the Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby stack, and I used a piece of velvet ribbon along with the Fleur de Lis punch for the border. The sentiment was done with Spellbinders fancy tags and stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.
I hope your Thursday is going well for you so far and I'm glad you took the time to stop by. Make it a great day!

Crazy4Cocoa Challenge #11

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for another Crazy4Cocoa challenge. This week the challenge is to paper-piece part of your Cocoa image. I chose the Sweet'nSassy Cocoa's Gift digi image for my card. I printed the image twice; once on white, and again on the dp. I added some silver stickles to the gift ribbon to give it a little sparkle. The "flower" was made by twisting ribbon and you can find the tutorial for that here. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory but details will be at the bottom of this post if you're interested.
Why not grab your Cocoa images and come play along with us? There are stamps up for grabs at the end of the month for some lucky participant!
Make it a great Tuesday and thanks for stopping by!

A Superbowl Sunday Stars & Stamps Sketch #55

Wow, that title sure is a mouthful isn't it? LOL Here's the sketch for the OWH Stars&Stamps challenge #55. It's a nice 'n easy one which allows for making multiple cards with little effort.
I used all scraps for my cards and I'll list the supplies at the end of the post for anyone who needs specifics. I used 1 embossing folder on the vertical panel on this card and added some faux stitching to the sentiment. The little tag was made with my Cricut and attached with some black thread. I dotted some flowers on the white dp with red smooch and after they dried, I added a drop of glossy accents as well. I also added glossy accents to the 2 hearts on the mini tag.
Here are 2 more cards I made using the same sketch. I used 6 different embossing folders for these and all the DP is from Tim Holtz vintage shabby paper pad. The ribbon is Bashful Blue from SU!
I have a big crockpot cooking away with some beef stew, the sun is out and the temps are in the mid 40's today, so it looks like it's going to be a good day! If you're going to watch the Superbowl, I hope you enjoy it! I watch mostly for the funny commercials, but if it's a good game, I'll get into it as the game goes on. I'm not a huge football fan but I'll be glued to the tv when NASCAR starts up again! Oh yeah!!
Have a fantastic Superbowl Sunday and good luck to all of you die-hard football fans getting up to go to work tomorrow morning ;)

Joans Gardens #5

I finally completed a card for Joan's Garden's challenge #5. The requirements for this challenge are:
Use Coral/Pink and Green for your colors
A birthday sentiment
Vintage paper
Handmade or punched flower
I struggled with this challenge for quite some time, and finally scrapped everything and started over. Ever have one of those days?!?! I couldn't find any shades of pink & green that I was happy with, but I finally settled on some Shabby Vintage dp from Tim Holtz for my pink color. The green is celery dp and ribbon. The sentiment was done with basic grey ink on an EK punched pane and sponged with some tattered rose ink. The flower was made with 5 different paper patterns & 5 scallop punches, cut in toward the center, crushed, curled and distressed in every possible way, then held together with a large brad. The leaves were folded pieces of cardstock run through the crimper and hand cut. I used some pink and green gemstone bling from my stash for the final touch.
That will do it for me for this Saturday, so enjoy your weekend folks, and thanks for stopping by!

The Sweet Stop SSS94

Here is this week's sketch for the SweetStop blog....................
And here is my card. I used this adorable SweetnSassy digi image called Pamper me Cookie. I colored her with Copics and pulled out 2 matching scraps of DP, then added some ribbon, and a slide which was cut with a Quickutz belt loop die. Actually I cut 2 of them and glued them together for a little strength. The sentiment was computer generated. After I saw this card posted, Cookie's tail and paw look uncolored, but they're actually a very light pink. I may have to enhance that just a little bit with a darker color.
I hope you're having a great weekend............and thanks for stopping by! I'll have more later!

StampinB's Way to Use it

Here's a card that meets 2 challenges today. First up is the Stampin B's #96 challenge to use an embedded image. It's also for the SCS WT308 challenge to use hearts on our cards. First things first - here is the tutorial for making an embedded image. For mine, I started with PTI soft stone card stock, and stamped the PTI text with Ranger Pumice Stone ink. I cut it with a Spellbinders heart die, and then proceeded with embossing it 3 times. I stamped the flourish image by Inkadinkado with Versamark, and embossed that with claret ep. I used SU retired pomegranate cardstock to mat the heart, card base, and sentiment panel, embossing the heart with SU!'s lattice square ef and the card base with a Tim Holtz Damask texture fades ef. The sentiment is by Studio 18 MLT and I colored it with markers before stamping. a few silver heart brads was all this card needed for the finishing touch. This is going into my next Operation Write Home box because the sentiment is perfect for their cards!
The sun is actually shining today in PA, so I'm feeling warmer in spite of the cold temperatures! Thanks for stopping by today and I hope your Thursday is a great one!

On the Farm

The challenge for the OWH MWT (operation write home mid-weekthrowdown) is to create a card that uses a farm theme. I used todays SC318 sketch challenge for inspiration. I don't have any stamps that would be considered farm animals, but in my world, this is a horse farm! I used the Serendipity Mustang image, stamping it on watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossing it with clear detail ep. I colored the image with Tombows and a wet brush. The edges were sponged with Ranger antique linen and vintage photo inks, then distressed on the edges to fray them slightly. It's matted on black cardstock and I used Basic Grey dp from the kraft pad. The card base is white, so I sponged the edges with more vintage photo ink in keeping with the distressed look. I added a few snippets of ribbon and several black brads to finish this card. There's really no room for a sentiment, but that's OK because it can be used for several different occasions.
That will do it for me today so thanks for stopping by and take care!

Ice Ice Baby!

I guess you could say we got off lucky considering the blizzard conditions in the mid-west part of the country, but we got a very nasty ice storm overnight. We woke up with our power off this morning, and although it was really only a minor inconvenience being out for just a few hours, it's been blinking off & on ever since. That part IS annoying when my computer dies while I'm in the middle of something! LOL
Anyway, I thought I'd share some pics if you're interested. The first photo is looking out my back door, down through the yard. The tree branches are all covered with ice and look SO pretty!
This photo is looking out my front door, toward my best friend's house (zoomed in). I just love the look of those beautiful, white, ice-coated tree branches!
This is a shrub just off the front porch completely encased in ice.......

And this is what the back deck looked like! We've been here over 23 years, and this is the first time I've seen icicles hanging off the deck railing like this!
On a brighter note - Punxsatawny Phil (our famous PA groundhog) did not see his shadow today, so we're due for an early spring! I'd say we all deserve it after the harsh winter we've been having! I almost forget what a sunny day looks like! LOL
Stay warm, take care and thanks for stopping by today!

C4CC#10 - My Favorite Cocoa

The challenge over at the Crazy4Cocoa blog this week is to use your favorite Cocoa image! My absolute favorite is Cocoa's Santa hat, but I'm taking a break from Christmas cards for a while, so I'm using another favorite called Cocoa's Chocolates . He also comes in a colored version so you can save time coloring your image. I colored the image with Copics and lightly sponged with Memento Desert Sand ink, while it was still in the Blossom die. The bottom blossom diecut is a piece of kraft cardstock, stamped with a basket weave pattern in Chocolate Chip ink. The dp is SU! sahara sand and the wide satin ribbon is SU! retired. The narrow ribbon was from my stash. The sentiment panel was done with an Inkadinkado stamper in Chocolate Chip ink and SU! oval punches. There's a little dab of Glossy Accents on those 3 cherries and the tiny heart on the sentiment panel and some stickles on the candy icing. Every time I look at this card I get hungry for chocolate! Small wonder this Cocoa image is a favorite of mine eh? :)
If you have any Cocoa images, it's time to get 'em out and ink 'em up! Come join us each week for a chance to win free images at the end of the month! Please double check the rules, as you must use a Cocoa image to play along!
We're dealing with another bad weather system that may cause power outages with ice storms, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get through this without too much drama! Take care and thanks so much for stopping by! It's always great to see you here:)
