Clean up Day!

I don't have any cards for you today because we got hit with a big snowstorm yesterday. I'm sure most of you have read or heard about it by now but I have a few photos to give you an idea of how much snow we have to clean up!
{click on photos to enlarge}

This picture was taken yesterday while the snow was falling at the rate of 3 inches per hour. In the distance is my neighbor across the street trying to keep his driveway open. You can see the snow on our shrubs breaking and falling off the side as the winds were howling with blizzard conditions.

This picture was taken of our back deck early this morning after it stopped snowing. The snow on our deck was thigh-high and nearly covered the middle railing.

My husband decided to bring the snowblower up on the deck to clear it off since it was so deep, but he had to dig out the covered gas grill that you see on the left.

Here's my better half blowing the snow off the deck.

Here you can see him walking down through the yard to the driveway. Check out how deep the path is where he's walking! It's a shock to see this and realize that nearly one month ago it was 73 degrees! LOL

Thanks to some great neighbors who cleared our driveway, sidewalk, and the plowed snow from around our mailbox - we were spared a lot of heavy-duty work this time around and only had to do the deck. Did I hear a report that more snow may be on the way again next week? Sorry, I'm not listening!!

We're grateful that we didn't lose power during this blizzard, but a lot of folks did, and I hope they have everything restored quickly!

Stay warm where you are!

Happy Valentine's Day (early)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope your day is filled with love and romance! Sorry I haven't posted earlier but I've been busy.........

We got dumped on with a foot of snow! This is looking out of my front door and that sidewalk path has snow piled up nearly waist high. If you look to the left, you can see our black mailbox out on the street. The snow pile along side of that is chest-high, and what a job that was to clear out! 3 AWESOME neighbors, my husband and I all dug that out and cleared a path for the mail to be delivered. What a job! Click the photo to see the details.

Here's our back deck which is several feet off the ground. You can see how high the snow is surrounding the deck! I shoveled this while my husband opened the driveway, and I had to throw it over the railing because the snow on the ground was already so deep from last week's snow storm!

This woman is tired and going to bed. What a work-out we had today! I don't know if this old body will ever be the same again! LOL

Much love to everyone on this Valentine's day! Thanks for stopping by!

Carol

PS: it's snowing again right now and they're calling for 3-6 more inches of snow overnight, with snow again this weekend and then some rain mixed with ice next Monday into Tuesday. Shockingly, after all this, they're predicting a high of nearly 50 next Thursday! My fingers are crossed already!

Ice Ice Baby!

I guess you could say we got off lucky considering the blizzard conditions in the mid-west part of the country, but we got a very nasty ice storm overnight. We woke up with our power off this morning, and although it was really only a minor inconvenience being out for just a few hours, it's been blinking off & on ever since. That part IS annoying when my computer dies while I'm in the middle of something! LOL
Anyway, I thought I'd share some pics if you're interested. The first photo is looking out my back door, down through the yard. The tree branches are all covered with ice and look SO pretty!
This photo is looking out my front door, toward my best friend's house (zoomed in). I just love the look of those beautiful, white, ice-coated tree branches!
This is a shrub just off the front porch completely encased in ice.......

And this is what the back deck looked like! We've been here over 23 years, and this is the first time I've seen icicles hanging off the deck railing like this!
On a brighter note - Punxsatawny Phil (our famous PA groundhog) did not see his shadow today, so we're due for an early spring! I'd say we all deserve it after the harsh winter we've been having! I almost forget what a sunny day looks like! LOL
Stay warm, take care and thanks for stopping by today!

Winter is alive and well in PA!!

I don't have a card to show you today, but I thought I'd share a couple photos of the big snowstorm we got overnight here in PA. I took this photo looking out my back door onto the deck. That's our gas grill under the black cover, but check out the upper railing on the deck! I've never seen snow pile up there like this! LOL !The snow is well over a foot deep as you can see by the lower railing!
I took this picture looking out the front door at our walkway, just after my DH took the first swipe with the snowblower. This snow is pretty, but it's a real heavy wet snow!
It's a good day for home made soup, so I have a big pot simmering on the stove. Can you believe they're already forecasting another snowstorm to possibly hit us Tuesday night? I think it's time to head to Punxatawny and teach that silly groundhog a thing or two!! LOL
Have a happy Saturday everyone and stay warm!!!!
