Memorial Day

 Today is Memorial day here in the US.

It's a day set aside to remember those who served our country as well as those who still serve today. 

All gave some and some gave all, and we honor all of them today.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

Remember that freedom is not free.

A Flag for Memorial Day

Today here in the US we're celebrating Memorial day to honor those who have served this country. I made this flag card to remember the sacrifice so many have made in order to keep our freedom.

I used a Tim Holtz die for the flag, and then found a tiny star die and cut as many stars as I could fit onto the blue field. I coated the flag pole with wink of stella gold for some sparkle, then added copper stickles to the flag pole top. I'm sorry it's difficult to see the sparkle - we haven't seen the sun in a few days so my natural light is limited. The sentiment is probably 10 years old - from Mark's Finest Papers (they've been closed for several years now) and I heat-embossed it with white ep on a navy blue strip that was cut with a Lil Inker (also now closed) stitched die. The background was embossed with a Darice star embossing folder.

Memorial Day

In memory of many, in honor of all.

Today we remember those who paid the ultimate price to serve this country and fight for our right to be free. Freedom comes with a cost and we should never take it for granted.

We salute all who have served on this Memorial Day.

Memorial Day 2018

Today we take time to thank and remember the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much for our nation on this Memorial Day. Never Forget.

Happy Memorial Day

Here in the US, today is Memorial Day - the day set aside to honor our military heroes that have paid the ultimate price, as well as those who continue to sacrifice so much to protect our freedom.  

For my tribute card, I used one of Deedee Anderson's pre-colored digi images from the "Hats Off" set, and added some red, white & blue dsp, stamped images to resemble fireworks, and mini brads. I added 2 ribbon tabs in patriotic colors and used early espresso cardstock to mat the image and sentiment.

OWH had a Memorial Day blog hop this weekend, and although I didn't participate this year, I kept myself busy by making 12 Hero cards that will be going to our soldiers in my next box. It was the perfect time to sit down and personally thank some of these soldiers for all they do.

Here's one done in black and pure poppy. The sentiment was printed on my computer and the name on it was "Gingers" so I'm not sure who to give credit to for this sentiment. I used all papers from my stash, and mostly tried to use up some of the older, retired colors from SU!

Here are all 12, written, signed, and ready to mail to some of our heroes.

One thing more, I want to give a big 2 thumbs up to NASCAR for the wonderful opening ceremonies and tributes honoring our military at Charlotte on Sunday!! They played "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes, and one soldier played "Taps" while soldiers sang the National Anthem. It was great to see all the military in uniform enjoying the race and being honored for their service!

Happy Memorial Day everyone - be sure and shake the hand of a soldier and thank him or her for their service when you see them. Not just today, but every day! We all owe them a huge debt of gratitude!
