I used an older Spellbinders Poinsettia die to create this card. While the pieces were still in the die, I took a gold paint pen and drew through the lines on the petals which gave the poinsettia a more festive look. Unfortunately the paint pen malfunctioned on one of those leaves and leaked all over it, but I managed to hide most of the blotch of gold ink under another petal. I decided to use it instead of creating another one. I curled each petal around a pencil to shape them and then popped the flower up on dimensionals, along with the leaf. The embossing folder is a poinsettia design by Taylored Expressions. The sentiment is a pre-printed one by Simon Says Stamp. I added a ancient gemstone to the center of the flower and called this one done.
I'll enter this card into the following challenges:

An absolutely glorious Poinsettia card. I love the embossed background and the traditional colours you used. xxx
This is so beautiful Carol! I love the the layers of the poinsettia and very cool idea to use the gold pen for the veins! I honestly didn't really notice until I read that your pen leaked...so it's a nice cover up! The texture is very lovely with your flower! HUGS
Beautiful card with your dry embossing and that poinsettia is lovely, like the gold and curled leaves.

Beautiful card Carol, and I love how you added the gold detail. I’ve had that happen with a gold pen, so many times, but still get caught out by it, so you did a great save! xx

Carol, your Christmas Poinsettia card is absolutely stunning! The gold detailing on the petals adds such a festive touch, and I love how you managed to turn a small mishap into a beautiful design element. The embossed background complements the poinsettia perfectly, and the gemstone in the center is a lovely finishing touch.
Oh, that poinsettia is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful embossed background, too!
