Happy Veteran's Day

First of all, it's Veteran's day in the US, a day set aside to honor those men and women who have served, sacrificed and continue to serve our nation and preserve our freedom. I owe a debt of thanks and gratitude to my dad (Navy); uncle (Navy), cousin (Army); father-in-law (Army); and brother-in-law (Marines) as we honor and fondly remember them all today. It also would have been my mother's 96th birthday today, so Happy Birthday Mom!

Today I have a card made with a Penny Black stamp called "birches." I stamped it with white craft ink on kraft card stock and added pink glitter to the heart on one tree. I added some pastel pink Nuvo drops randomly and added a few white gel pen highlights as well; cutting the image panel with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. The sentiment was die cut in both pink and white card stock with an Elizabeth Craft designs die, then layered to give a hint of a shadow to match the trees. I placed it on a pink card base and thought today would be a good day to share this card while memories of my family and loved ones are foremost in my mind today. I'm thinking of them all on this special day.

I'm going to share this with the Happy Little Stampers November "anything goes with dies" challenge.

Also sharing with the Penny Black Saturday challenge for November  - anything goes with an option of "tags"

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Monday!

Carol

Indeed, its a very poignant day... war shouldn't exist ever. Well now, I'm sure I keep saying this to you... great minds think alike and look what happened today, how strange. I love the little heart etched into the birch trees which look fab in white. It's such a unique card to say your thinking of the recipient, I like that a lot x

Well done, Carol!! Love the birches and that glittered heart! It's a warm and thoughtful card for your beloved ones! I know well that it's a true pain for the heart thinking about all the ones we have lost, but we surely will meet them again, on the other side of the life, if we don't forget them.
Sending you my biggest hugs!

Beautiful card! I love the stacked sentiment. I too have remembered all those near and dear that have served. I recently gifted our son with my father's purple heart, and he was so surprised, and promised to keep it in the family.
