Twofer #8

The Twofer Challenge #8 is still open for a couple more days and I finally got my geometric cards finished. This is definitely the most difficult challenge for me to do each month, but I enjoy a good challenge, so here goes.

I made a card for kids along with a Christmas card by using 1-5/8" squares. I didn't use a die or a punch, I hand cut the squares to make both a border and a door.

I cut 4 panels of vanilla cardstock to make the door, scoring and curling along the edges to resemble beveled edges. I made a wreath of greens using many different snippets of green cardstock and a Martha Stewart fern punch. I added red and gold drops of stickles to the ferns along with a twine bow. The door handle was made with some SU! hardware I've had for years! It's actually a photo turn and brad, but my mind sees it as a metal door handle :) The sentiment is from Verve, heat-embossed with white ep on black and matted with wild wasabi cardstock.

I'm also sharing this card with the following challenges:

The Snippets Playground #333 - must use snippets

Craftyhazelnuts CHNC #399 - Christmas challenge anything goes/optional no stamped or digital image

Here's the 2nd of my Twofer cards - a little something for the kiddos. I used 3 blocks of dsp from a DCWV paper pad and matted with gray. The little skunk is from Lawn Fawn, done with a MFT stitched circle die, as well as SB circle and scalloped circle dies. The card base is SU! Berry Burst and I inked in 2 of the stamped hearts with a pink glaze pen.

I'm also sharing this card with the following challenges:

2 Crafty Critter Crazies #17 - must use a critter on your project

Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful Wednesday!

I keep saying I've GOT to play in this challenge - and it never gets done for some reason! Ugh!
You got it done good though with these too cards! The little skunk is yes, too stinkin' cute. I LOVE the wreath on the "door" too. Both are super sensational!!

Two brilliant ideas Carol, your designs are both adorable!! Great work with the squares for the door, it looks so pretty with that handle :) and the gorgeous wreath! Clever use of snippets! The card for kids is just adorable and cute, but also elegant with the geometric black and white patterns!! Your creations for darnell's challenge are delightful, well done!

I'm glad you tackle this challenging challenge, Carol! It's challenging for me, too, and that's what I was looking for as my brain cells now fly out through my nose faster than I can breath new ones in! I think you did an amazing job with those squares and rectangles on your Christmas card using what now? A pair of skizzors?! Hard to believe we all used to work that hard to make everything (underscored!) on our cards! Your wreath is spectacular, too, and took a lot of work and I love that whatchacallit doorknob! Just stunning! Your twofer card is an adorable and stinkin cute card and another great way to use snippets! With that wreath on your Christmas card and frame for your skunkster, you have used BOTH squares and circles on both cards! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #8! Hugs, Darnell

Wonderful Twofers and a fantastic way of using your geometric squares and rectangles. I love that you really showed how they could be used for two very different types of card designs. Lovely Christmas design and I think that is such a cute skunk too.

Love the wreath and all! Of course that skunk is just too stinkin' CUTE! :) Love the patterns within your squares!! You just nailed that challenge my dear! HUGS

Your door (and the door handle) is so creative and looks festive with the beautiful wreath! And I adore the border of different b/w pattern squares for your cute skunk! Both of your cards are fabulous!

Wow and double wow Carol! What a fabulous snippets card - the door is so realistic and the wreath is just perfect! Love the little skunk card of course as well. And you opened my eyes as I had no idea that scissors or punches were acceptable in Dranell's challenge - it's hidden away in the FAQ and I hadn't spotted it until this entry and another one made me stop to check. Too late now but at least I know in future!

Wow Carol! I do love how your mind does these challenges! It never looks like you struggle with this challenge at all, as you always come up with unique and beautiful cards with the prompt words. I wish my brain worked like yours! lol I am loving both of these cards!!! The skunk card is just so stinkin' cute! Love the snippets of DSP you used and the red scallop. I really need to get my punch out and use it again cause. Your Christmas door is stunning! It really does look like the panels are beveled. I love the "door knob" and think that was a fabulous idea, then there is that beautiful wreath-oh my I am so loving it and the pretty twine bow! Well done my friend, well done! You have succeeded in knocking this challenge out the park! Hugs, Brenda

Two awesome cards using squares Carol. LOVE the Christmas card with the beautiful dimension wreath and very creative door to hang it on! And your second card is adorable with the skunk and sweet matching sentiment. Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge!

How did I miss these earlier? Again 2 very clever designs with the geometrics, and you did some fine fussy cutting on this door! It's so pretty with the beveling and the green wreath. Designer genes must have read 'door knocker' on this fastener. My brain doesn't work that way at all! Also loved the cute little skunk with the circle. I also love how you've repeated the geometric theme with the paper patterns too! Brilliant cards, well done, you! TFS & Hugs. Hope the weekend will be good.
