OWH challenges

Here's my card for the OWH sketch #218. I used SU! owl and bird punches, with early espresso and very vanilla cardstock. The fun dsp is from WeRMemoryKeepers and the sentiment is from MFP.

This card was made for the OWH midweek throwdown color challenge to use purple and yellow. I used all snippets of leftover dsp which had all the right colors, along with 2 SU! punches and a yellow brad. The SU! sentiment was done with elegant eggplant ink. I made another card with the snippets left on my table while I had these colors in front of me.

For this one, I dug deep into my stash of papers and found a paper pad I may have had for ten years or more! I found this lace background in a soft lavender color and made an Ohio Star quilt pattern to go along with it. The button was done with a punch from MS and I wove some matching strips of cardstock through the holes to look like it was stitched on. The star was embossed with a SU! square lattice ef, and the sentiment is by Verve. I rarely see cards made for Grandmas, but this one had a vintage look to it that reminded me of my grandma because she was a quilter/sewer/crocheter/tatterer.

With all the snippets I used, I'm sharing this card over at the Snippets Playground #118. I was so excited to see that I won the prize for last week's playground! Lady luck came around to visit me again, and I'm very happy about it :)

Sorry for the poor quality photos today. It's a rainy day and just plain gloomy so I have limited natural light.

Have yourself a fantastic weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Carol

The photos look just fine and I love those cute little owls! Great layout too and I just got through Pinning it while ago. That last one would just be perfect for a quilter as that's what it reminds me of too.
Great papers and great cards.

Super cards, Carol. Those owls are so cute and I love your Ohio Star quilt design. The middle card is very pretty, too, and such wonderful colors.

Lady Luck seems to follow you around, Carol. You win more than anyone I know. :-) Congrats on another win.

I guess you're getting our ugly weather we had Friday and Saturday. It's beautiful today so maybe it will come your way in a day or two.

Carol,

These little owls are adorable!

Confession time: You always do such great things with your little owls that you inspired me to break down and by that blasted punch. I so tried to resist, but eventually had to give in. :)

TFS! Have a great Sunday.

Hi Carol

I'll be back to comment properly but had to quickly hop over as am giggling at what you wrote about the face in the DP - I SEE IT, in fact I think I see two side by side. So funny, at first, before I looked after reading your comment I thought 'Sheesh' wild haired blonde with glasses - did I catch my reflection?'.

Busy day here so the Playground has been a bit neglected - will catch up tomorrow though!

Hugs, and well done again honey!

What a wonderful collection of cards! I love those sweet owls and how you made them looking at each other. And both of your purple and yellow cards are just lovely. Perfect sketch for the first one to show off the pretty DP. And the last card is just gorgeous with the embossed quilt star. Great job!

OMG Carol, I love those little owls looking into each other's eyes. Very pretty paper for the background. Your second card came out so pretty with those shade of purple and yellow. Your Ohio Star Quilt pattern card is Stunning. I've never done that pattern, but I think I can figure it out form looking at this gorgeous card. I'll let you know how I make out. That background paper is beautiful and something my Grandmother would have loved. Have a fun filled day. Your photos came out very well, we would never know it was cloudy/ rainy at your house today.

All your cards are beautiful! But the eyes on the owl card just really make me giggle, the way they are looking at each other. I love owls anyway, and these 2 just look so funny! Thanks for sharing and brightening my day!

Three beautiful cards. The owls are darling & cheerful. Made me smile. Loved #2, but gotta fess up, #3 had me when I saw it was a quilted design. Been studying it to see how you created the shape. Could not have chosen better colors for the soft vintage old quilt appeal and what a great idea to use the tiny strip of paper for the button thread. The lace look of the dp was perfect to show off this beautiful star, and yes, it did say "Grandma" wonderfully well. Congrats on your Snippets win too. You are ace-ing those challenges left & right - You ROCK - Girl! Can't wait to see what you creat with that fab win too. Happy Sunday & TFS -

Congrats on your win from last week. Well deserved I must say. Love these cards -- your owls are adorable. I really like the subtle colors of the lavender and yellows. That quilt is awesome and I like how you wove the strips for the stitching on the button - great tip! I'm always learning something from you. TFS. Enjoy the gloomy Sunday.

Wonderful cards, love all the extra touches in the owl cards, detailed, says "lovingly made"! Great job with the purple and yellow, both don't sing to me, but you made great music with the card! TFS!

Wonderful group of cards! My fave is the last just because of the quilt block look. My fave quilt clock is the churn dash although I have never made one. Thanks for your kind words!

Wow, wow, wow! I am loving both of these cards Carol! I love the cute owls and love that sentiment. The quilt one is just gorgeous. I thought you did use ribbon in the button, who would have ever guessed it was paper?!! Love, love, love! Hugs

I just love what you did to the SU owls. They are such cuties gazing lovingly into each others' eyes. I love that they have embossed chests.

The next card is wonderful in its simplicity. So great for snippets of wonderful paper.

The quilt card is fabulous and perfect for a grandmother. I love that button punch--no bulk!

Oh my gosh! Those owls are adorable! Love how they are looking at each other. The midweek throwdown cards are both very beautiful, but the Ohio Star is my favorite because it's my favorite quilt block. Congrats on your recent win at Snippets!
