Tan Hooter
The MFP Stamps challenge #30 is a color challenge to use "tan." I pulled out a MFP stamp set and some caramel cardstock to make this card. I colored the owl's beak and claws with a Copic marker, and added some white colored pencil to his chest and head. The vertical border was cut twice with a SSS hexagon border die in caramel and black, and I switched the negatives to give some contrast. The sentiment is also by MFP and the little negative hexes on the side balanced this out just right to my eyes.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a great day.

Purple Hydrangea
I need to add to my thank-you card stash, so I made this card with a MFP hydrangea image and sentiment. I colored the flower with Copics, adding some speckles and splatters with lavender ink, some stickles to the flower centers, and a piece of purple twine. The edges were sponged and distressed, then I placed this on a smoky purple cardstock base.
I'm entering this into the following challenges:
MFP Stamp Challenge #17 - use the color purple as your main color.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - anything goes.
Enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Bandana Technique
Today's card is for the MFP Stamps Challenge #11 which includes a tutorial for using the bandana technique. I started off with Peacock Feathers, adding Mermaid Lagoon and finally some Tumbled Glass distress inks, sponging in random fashion. After it dried, I stamped some images from a MFP stamp set called "Take the Time & Father's Day" with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and added some white doodling within and around the images. (click to enlarge for detail) I added a few black and white negative die cut bits from previous projects to fill in all the open spaces. Father's day will be here before we know it, so I'm getting some cards done early.
Thanks for stopping by and here's wishing you a great day!

I Give a Hoot
I tried to make an all-brown card for the MFP Stamp Shop challenge #9, but I think this poor little owl gets lost in all the brown colors! I stamped the MFP "Owls" image on vanilla cardstock and colored it with Copics, then embossed the whole piece with clear EP and fussy cut it. I added a MB Woodland Branch die cut in kraft and perched this feathered friend on it. The background is a Tim Holtz ef which was cut from kraft and sponged with chocolate chip ink. The sentiment is also from the MFP stamp set "Owls."
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Gatefold Christmas Card
I have a gatefold card to share today, made with snippets of leftover dsp with gumball green & red cardstock. I used a SB lotus die cut with a pair of SB die cut circles to hold the SNSS gold-embossed sentiment. These gatefold cards are fun to make and make great use of those leftover strips of dsp you may have on hand. I found it impossible to photograph the inside because the card wouldn't stay open long enough to take a picture. I put a red candle image inside, but you'll have to take my word for it :)
The challenge at the MFP Stamp Shop challenge #3 is to make a gatefold card, and they have an easy-to-follow tutorial so you can play along.
I'm also sharing this over at the Snippets Playground #212 which is to always use snippets.
Thanks for stopping by, and make it a great weekend!
