Here's my favorite little mouse to color, and he's ready for summer with that big juicy piece of watermelon. He's Cocoa Mouse and he's from Sweet'n Sassy stamps, and he's colored with Copics. The dsp is from Echo Park and I accented with dark teal and red cardstock and ribbon. The heart border is also a die from SNSS, while the "yum" was done with a SU! petite curly label punch and coordinating stamp set called pretty petites. The outside square was done with a CTMH stamp set and I layered it with a square scalloped punched panel.
This is my last entry for the OWH National Scrapbook Day Virtual Card Making party 2013 found here. This is for challenge #7 hosted by JoAnn where she's asking us to make a summertime card. I can hardly wait for summertime to bite into a big piece icy cold watermelon too!
Thanks for checking in, and have yourself a fabulous day!!

VCMP continued....
I've been hanging onto a big stack of dsp by Recollections that I bought last year and have struggled to create with it. The cover on the package contained bright and colorful patterns & designs, but the paper inside was much darker, dreary and unattractive, so I put it aside until today. I was inspired by this post from JoAnn Ross where she used a darker dsp on her card, so I opted to pull this paper out and finally work with it. I had a scrap of light teal card stock on my table, and it brightened the paper up a bit. Then I tried to match the rose in the center panel, and raspberry ripple was as close a match as I could find, so this card came together pretty quickly once I decided on the colors to use. The circle panel was done with a SU! Round Array stamp, and the sentiment is by CASual Fridays.
Here's my card for the 6th challenge hosted by Julie, where she wants us to use one of our own personal photographs and make a card with it. For the most part, I only take photos of the cards I make, but I found this one in my files that I took last August. We'd just lost a cherished and dear neighbor to a horrible accident at home, and the following day as I was walking up the walk to our front door, I spotted this flower blooming from the trunk of our Rose of Sharon tree which is in our front yard. The tree had already lost most of it's blooms, but this bright pink blossom suddenly appeared out of nowhere, so we took that as an omen that our neighbor was somehow letting us know he was ok. It was so strange to see a full bloom growing from the base of the tree trunk, so I grabbed my camera and took a picture. I wish I had a tiny sentiment that says "bloom" but I settled for "hello" from the SU! teeny tiny wishes stamp set and attached the jewel tag with black twine. The picture looks a bit grainy because I printed it on card stock instead of photo paper.
My two favorite drivers were just knocked out of the NASCAR race at Talladega in a huge wreck, so I might get to work on the final VCMP challenge after it's posted :)
Thanks for stopping by!!

OWH NSD VCMP continues...
Continuing with the OWH VCMP2013 in celebration of National Scrapbooking Day, I've played along with Challenge #3 being hosted by Sandy Allnock. Her challenge is to create a "romantic card" and use one of the tutorials on the OWH Pinterest page.
I used some SB heart dies, adding a SNSS sentiment and a Darice ef for the background. I added some Hero Arts hearts bling and the tutorial I used was the "no fail ribbon" technique which anchors the ribbon to prevent it from slipping. This was quick and simple to create and I think it works well for a romantic card.
I haven't done any scrapbook pages for a while, but I did use left-over scraps from cards I made recently, so hopefully that works for challenge# 4. Nancy is our host for this challenge and she wants us to create a card with scraps left over from a scrapbook layout, using a scrapbook sketch. I chose this sketch from Page Maps...
I started by stamping a Hero Arts/Studio Calico background stamp on white and black card stock, embossing with white ep on the black, and clear detail on the white. I embossed the black horizontal panel with an ef from the CB decorative tiles set, and added some punched elements from SU!'s Mosaic Madness stamp set. I added mini brads to the centers to anchor them and added a punched border with a SU! fancy scallop punch. Since I had portions of the black and white panels left, I made a 2nd card using red elements instead of teal and came up with this....
I hope to wrap up the remainder of the challenges as time permits, so thanks for stopping by, and hopefully I'll see you real soon!

I Miss You Like Crazy
Since it's National Scrapbooking Day, OWH has launched a weekend Virtual Card Making Party with challenges throughout the weekend.
Challenge #1 is the monthly OurDailyBreadDesigns.com challenge, and the theme this week is "Missing You." As luck would have it, I made this card a few days ago for OWH, using a great sentiment borrowed from a sweet friend, so I made a set of cards using all of the sentiments I'd stamped, along with scraps of dsp for the background and flowers. That may look like narrow ribbon across the bottom, but it's actually a border cut from the dsp that I thought was too pretty to throw away, so I used it as a border. I think that's an Inkadinkado sentiment, but I'm not positive. The flowers were done with Carl & Fiskars flower punches, with a dot of liquid pearls in the centers. Here are the rest of the cards I made using scraps in the same design as this card...
I made some with flowers for the ladies, and some with crimped stars for the gentlemen, so there's a bit of an assortment, but they all have the same sentiment.
Challenge #2 is hosted by Paula and her challenge is to make a card for kids using a sketch. Earlier this week, I made a lot of cards for kids and for some of them I used OWH's Sketch #2 which is a great use for scraps, so I had this challenge done with no prior knowledge of what it was going to be! LOL
I printed out some pre-colored digi images from DearieDolls.com for this card, and then printed the sentiment. I used assorted scraps and papers from paper pads, adding a goo punch border to look like the frosting dripping from the spoon. The die was done with a SB labels 25 and the sentiment was done with SU! punches. Here's the rest of the set...
Here's one of the boy images, and I flipped the image panel from the original sketch just so I could make better use of my left-over scraps. I made a few more of these too...
I used 3 different girl and 3 different boy images and made a total of 17 cards for kids. How lucky was I to be able to enter these into the first two challenges!? Now to move on to some more challenges and hopefully tomorrow I can catch up on some of those.
Have fun with the blog hop and enjoy your weekend!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
