Summertime Blues

I had a small piece of pre-embossed double sided dual-colored cardstock on my table, so I tore it into strips and flipped the pieces to create some ocean water. I added a couple of die-cut sailboats from I.O. and colored them with blue markers, placing them between the torn strips. The clouds were done with a set of T.E. stencils and some tumbled glass distress ink. I added some Diamond glitter glue to the edges for a little sparkle, then added a stamped SNSS sentiment (Ocean Paradise 2009) on a Lil Inker stitched die cut. The stamped birds are from another SNSS set called "Serene Silhouettes" also from 2009.

I thought a close-up might show the sparkle but you get the idea 😉

I'll enter this into the following challenges:

the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Summertime Blues

Cardz4Guyz #276 - Shades of Blue

the Happy Little Stampers August Stencil challenge - a/g

the Retro Rubber Challenge #164 - a/g must use stamps older than a year

Being near the ocean might be a good place to cool off as it's supposed to get steamy hot again today.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a relaxing weekend!

Carol

Oh my gosh....this is amazing! How did I never see those little IO sailboats before? My hubby loves to sail, but if I get some, he might get tempted to go buy another one!!! Very sweet waves, it's all awesome! Thanks for sharing it at Retro Rubber too!

What a lovely peaceful scene, what could possibly be nicer than sitting watching yachts on sparkly seas. I think your card is adorable and so nicely designed. Maybe more water/Christmas cards will help occupy the mind from the heat, stay cool x

Wow Wow Wow Wow!!!!!! My open mouth touch the floor! :D This is the most stunning, amazing and inspiring marine card I have seen! I can breathe the salt air and hearing the ocean waves!
This is not a card, but a fab picture to put hanging on a wall! The way you made the weaves is so beautiful and very inspiring! And those bicoloured sailboats add movement to the whole scene! Fantastic cloudy sky too!! Love the little sparkle on the waves and the birds, as well the sentiment! You deserve a gold star! :D
Sending hugs across the ocean! :D

Wow! It might be a CAS card, but there are many details to see here. The clouds are spot-on, the waves are so pretty to "sea" (haha, no pun intended), and the tiny boats are just doing their thing out there on the water. Well done, Carol!
