Using Snippets

After spotting THIS CARD on the snippets playground, I knew I had to try making one of my own, so here's my version - a birthday card for my SIL who's turning 70 in a few days. I used papers from the DCWV Linen Closet paper pad along with black. The little butterflies were die-cut with GinaMarieDesigns dies - with each one being cut in white and several times in black to give them a little outline definition. The sentiment was heat-embossed with white on black with a SSS stamp. I added Aqua Crystal Nuvo Drops for a little sparkle on each butterfly along with 1 drop on the sentiment panel.

I'm sharing this with the Double D  Butterflies challenge.

It sure has become a 3-ring circus to edit a published post with this new blogger! I forget to add things sometimes and going back to fix it is really a big PAIN. I wish when they change things they would make it EASIER instead of making you jump through hoops to get where one click used to take you!

We were without power for most of Tuesday with the tail end of that hurricane, so I'm still playing catch-up with blogging and commenting; my apologies. Some folks close to us were still without power yesterday afternoon with many traffic lights not working. Our power came back on shortly after 10:30 PM, and I was grateful that we could run the air conditioning again so we could get some sleep! This stifling humidity and heat makes me grumpy! I'm obviously spoiled with modern conveniences like electricity :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day whatever you do!

Your card is so beautiful Carol! I love how you've done the strips of paper and the colors are so pretty too! The added glitter to the centers of the butterflies made for a lovely touch as well! I'm so glad to hear that you are safe from the hurricane my friend, but hopefully the power will return for you soon! It's not ideal to be without electricity, but thankfully you are intact and that's what's important. Best wishes for a happy day!

This is so beautiful Carol, I love to see a design that uses up small pieces of paper, I always have bits left over and end up throwing them but this is a great way to avoid waste and it looks so pretty! So glad you weren't without your power too long, that must have been pretty scary! Deb xx

Brilliant way to use lots of patterned paper and at the same time creating a great background. Lovely to add in the trio of butterflies. Gosh, I've had a fan running at night for many months now and we don't get the weather you do so I can imagine its been rather tedious to be without your air con. Isn't this year just a total pain in the proverbial x

Oh thanks for the link! Have watched the video and I have a bag of scraps ready to play with. You are the queen of snippets! Love the added butterflies. Great card Carol! Glad your power came back. I too would not do well without the modern conveniences.

Such a pretty card, Carol! Love the colors in your patterned paper and those butterflies just make this the perfect birthday card!! This style of card has become very trendy lately. I have not tried my hand at it but maybe one day next week I will. So sorry to hear about your power being out. I have a friend that lives in Phoenixville and she has been without power since. This heat & especially the humidity is enough this summer to make anyone grumpy! I'm hoping for an early Fall!! Stay cool, my friend! Hugs~

A super card Carol, a fabulous way to use up all of those pretty snippets.
Aparently they changed blogger to make it easier to use on phones and tablets, a pity they had to make it more diffucult for those of us who use computers!

Oh wow, I could copy this card nearly exactly. I definitely have the scraps from the same paper pad. Well done!

I’m sorry you lost power, we were lucky this time and really didn’t have an inconvenience. My in laws still have no power.

Happy Birthday to your SIL, Carol! You made a stunning design for her card, wow!! Not only a clever use of snippets, but such great dimensions! Those butterflies really stand up on the vertical stripes, the black outline is a great idea to make them pop!! Sweet colours, too!
I'm a bit later with my comments, I'm going to see your other creations!
Biggest hugs ever, hope that all is quiet for you both

Wow, I love the way you have used your snippets on this card Carol! A great take on the snippet's playground version. I love these papers so much and I will have to remember to try this with my snippets from the same paper pad. The black just makes it all pop so nicely!

Egads, just went over and looked at blogger. I forget to add things all the time too and have to go back in to edit my posts. How in the world do you edit now?!! It was so easy before, why do things have to change?!!

Sorry to hear you lost power with the hurricane. We only got some rain, a gentle sort of rain which was much needed. Of course you are closer to the shoreline than I am, so I guess you got more of a punch than we did. Although some areas did get more winds and rains with flooding. I keep saying I live in a blessed area with the weather. lol I don't know how you survived without AC! I am spoiled too with modern conveniences like electricity! I could do without a lot, but AC is not one of them!!! Hope all is back to normal now my friend, stay cool...it is still stifling and hot! Hugs, Brenda
