Floral Birthday

I found a few pieces of this retired SU! designer paper and thought I'd make a card to play along with a challenge asking for stripes. I used a dotted scalloped border punch to put a narrow edge mat on the stripes panel on one side, and left it straight on the other. The background was embossed with a matching embossing folder to the SU! Fifth Avenue Floral rose, which I stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold ep on some SU! dsp. I added a little shading with Copics, then clear embossed the whole piece. Next I fussy cut it and popped it up on foam dots, adding some tiny gold gemstones to the center and randomly on the card. The leaves were done with a retired SU! Blossom punch and the sentiment is by SSS, heat embossed on black. The photo just doesn't capture the glow on the flower but it looks much better than my photo shows. After 3 attempts, this is the best picture I could get while the sun makes a rare appearance here in PA this morning :)

I'm sharing this with the Just Us Girls Challenge challenge #522 - which is "stripes."

Thanks for the visit, and I hope your day has a little sunshine too!

Carol

What a stunning card, I like the orange dotted paper and the matching die embossing on your background.

I like how you use this stamp in so many different ways and incorporating the embossed rose. The orange with the gold certainly packs a punch and the stripes bring everything together nicely x

Wow Carol, this card is just stunning! I love color combo and those stripes. I also love how you used that rose embossing folder, I never know what to do with it so don't use it much. Did you change your blog background to black? Or is my computer doing something weird??? Yes, not much sun here in PA is it?! I'm sick of all this rain....again. I know it could be snow, but at this point, I'm ready to take the snow over the rain. At least then things would be white and not muddy. lol Oh bring back the sunshine!!! Thank you for the Valentine card my friend. I haven't even mailed any out!!! Yikes! Time gets away from me so fast. Hugs, Brenda

The flower is gorgeous and so is your card! Love the subtle embossing behind the flower too. I think I have some of that DP left from SU too!

Don't you wish that roses grew with polka dots? I had a purple rose once that had splashes of white, but no dots. It only bloomed for a year. Anyway, very pretty.... looks like you were having great fun with this one. Getting quite tired of all this rain. How about you?
