Celebrate You

I have another birthday card to share today that was made with some snippets of Groovy Guava cardstock from SU! Does anyone remember that pretty peachy color? I used a SU! Fifth Avenue Floral stamp with Versamark and stamped it twice, heating with gold embossing powder and fussy cutting both flowers and popping them up for dimension. I used a WOS gold pen on the edges, but it darkened it more than I expected and I wish now I'd have skipped that step. I made the leaves with scraps of green by running folded pieces through a crimper and fussy cutting them. I used a (r) large scallop punch from SU! for the sentiment, adding a die-cut "you" done with a SSS die, and a "celebrate" die from Lil Inker. The background was done with a Repeat Impressions large palm frond stamp 5120-K and some versamark ink on white card, then embossed with white ep and sponged with Citron distress ink. I die cut both the image panel and card base with Lil Inker stitched rectangles and finished this with some tiny black gemstones.

I'd like to share this with the following challenges:

Retro Rubber Challenge #109 - anything goes with older stamps
(SU! Fifth Ave Floral stamp set is several years old)

Snippets Playground #351 - must use snippets

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day!

This turned out beautiful. I don't think the gold made it too dark at all. Crimping your leaves added such great dimension to them. This is lovely Carol. That is a pretty sponged background with the palm fronds.

Lots of gorgeous texture on your card Carol with so many great techniques especially the crimped leaves. I also like the white embossed background with the green ink x

This is so gorgeous!!! I LOVE that beautiful rose; the texture on the petals is fabulous! And the crimped leaves are so cool! And the background created with the frond stamp??? Stunning! I am going to have to give that a try; it has such a great tropical look! Thanks for playing with The House That Stamps Built.

As many times as I see you crimp your leaves, I just do not remember to do it. LOL! This is so pretty! Love the combo of colors and that great green background.

This card is so gorgeous and I, too, used to use a crimper for making leaves but since I got dies I gave my crimper away. This sure brought back memories though.

Groovy Guava was before my SU time but it looks a beauty, as does your wonderful flower! I love the depth you've created with the colouring and layering of fussy cuts. The leaves are totally marvellous - I think a crimper was also before my stamping time but wonder if you could do the same with the Corrugated embossing folder somehow? I might just try it out as those leaves are so stunning! Fabulous card! Thank you for sharing it with us at Retro Rubber Challenges.

Lots of clever ideas here Carol. The crimping of the leaves adds so much interest and I love that OLD Fifth Avenue Stamp. It's one of my favourites. Love how you cut it for dimension. I have done that in the last. Gorgeous colours - still have some of that cs too. Lovely card with so much going for it.

Hi Carol, I think tht the gold on the edges is just perfect, it gives more dimension at that wonderful layered rose and doesn't looks too dark! The gems on the centre give a lot of dimension too! So clever!
Love the sweet and happy design, perfect for Spring!! :)
Your leaves made with a crimper always stunning me and I have to try one day, they look AMAZING!! Fabulous embossed background too!! The sentiments in black and white is so striking! Well done!

What a gorgeous card Carol! I adore the dusky peach rose (don't recall that SU card colour) - and stamping it and embossing with gold was genius! Really lovely result altogether.
