Autumn Birthday

My brother-in-law has a birthday coming up soon, so I made him an autumn-themed card in colors of espresso and pumpkin. The leaf is a die-cut from SB which I sponged with an assortment of distress inks and then let it dry. I smeared it with Versamark ink and heat-set it with clear embossing powder to give it some shine and then curled the leaves around a pencil and popped it up on foam dots. I tied a piece of brown twine around the stem in a knot, rather than a bow (which I thought would have looked a bit feminine) but now that I see the picture, it looks like a horseshoe slung around the stem LOL I may add another piece of twine before I mail this one. The embossed panel was done with a Darice ef, and the birthday sentiment was die-cut with a Lil Inker stitched banner. The dsp is from SU! and I added a few orange gemstones to finish this one.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Cardz4Guyz #204 - Autumn/Fall Leaves

Little Red Wagon #465 - Falling leaves

Repeat Impressions S2618 - anything goes

Crafty Gals Corner Challenge #175 - Fall anything goes

Thanks for stopping by and do make it a great Thursday!

I love when you use that large leaf. I have never found on that big. This is just so pretty. Autumn is my favorite season. I hope you don't think I am following you but I just made a leaf card for a few of these. Have a good day.

You have a lovely collection of embossing folders, this one is perfect for your leaf. I see the shine in the photo and it looks similar to the sheen of a pressed leaf when it is still new. Lovely card for your brother in law.

Oh WOW! I absolutely LOVE that leaf, it looks so real. Going to have to look up that die I think? I think twine tied in a bow is ok on guy cards but some times I tie it like you did but double or triple it. I love the small strip of embossed CS along the side like that.

Again, pretty fall colors on this card. Love the look of the leaf, and after reading how you did the 'non-bow', it really does look quite cool. I wouldn't re-do it (Just MHO). Thanks for the tip on wrapping around a pencil to give some dimension..and the versamark over the Distress ink gave lots of shine too. I think your BIL will be very pleased to get this card. Actually I think any gender would love it! TFS & Hugs

What a gorgeous masculine card! That leaf is fabulous; love it!! And so glad you explained about the twine, I was quite curious. : ) I don't think a twine bow would have been too feminine for it, but it is tough to know when you are in the midst of designing. Thanks for playing with The House That Stamps Built.

Wow! I am loving this card Carol, so masculine, so fall, so amazing! Not sure how you got the colors on this leaf like this or what colors you used, but it looks so real like it just fell off the tree! Love that striped paper and love the embossing. I would just snip the twine back a little where it doesn't look like a horseshoe shape, I like it and I think you would too if you just sniped it back a little. Hugs, Brenda
