Busy Butterfly Birthday

I made this birthday card with lots of elements and wasn't sure if it was overdone or not, but I'm sharing it regardless :) The entire card was built around that pretty white die-cut panel that my sweet blogging friend sent me all the way from Italy! (thanks Alice!) I added a black GMD stitched die-cut circle on top of that along with a pair of Memory Box butterfly dies. I cut the Darla die with black, and the Vivienne with black, yellow, green and blue, inlaying all those little pieces to make a colorful butterfly. The background was done with an IO geometric background die on top of a piece of water colored paper, sponged with 3 different Distress inks in shades of blue and green. I tore a strip of script dsp by DCWV and covered one corner with that, then placed a Mama Elephant Park Avenue Frame die-cut on top (thanks Lynn), and heat-embossed the SU! birthday sentiment with white ep on the bottom portion. The butterflies were done with a Sizzlet die (r) by SU! and for the final touch, I added drops of liquid pearls to the butterflies and alongside the sentiment.

I'm going to enter this into the HLS July Anything Goes with Dies challenge

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a great Wednesday so far!

Hi Carol, your card seems not overdone to me! So glad you put to a great use that "doily frame" and the inlaying of the butterfly makes a fab centre for it with the added black circle! Love the half geometric background with the sweet inking on the back and the tiny butterflies give a lot of movement! Well done!

Wow! This is so pretty with that stained glass looking butterfly! It is contrasted nicely with all of the black in the design which makes it all come together nicely and not look "overdone" at all! I just love how you've put this together Carol! HUGS

I wouldn’t have ever thought it was overdone. I like the artistic look with mostly black but pops of color!

Definitely NOT overdone, and definitely, most unique and beautiful. Wondered what the geometric shape was, and the butterfly is gorgeous too. Love the design with the torn script against the blue-green paper. The black scallop stitched frame set it off wonderfully (and thanks to Lynn for sending those to you!) The card is even more stunning IRL! TFS & Hugs.
