Butterfly Challenges

I haven't been as diligent in playing challenges lately as I have a few of my own personal challenges to contend with, but I decided to take time to make and combine 2 cards to play along with 2 challenges.

First up is the Twofer challenge # 5 and this month the challenge prompt is Butterflies.

One of my cards for the Twofer is this birthday card, done with Altenew layering dahlia stencils and sponged with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry distress inks. I used MB Darla and Vivienne butterfly dies, adding some tiny pink gemstones. The sentiment panel was done with a SU! Beautiful Bouquet stamp, heat-embossed with white. The fern is a die-cut from the Beautiful Bunch coordinating framelit die set.

The 2nd of my Twofer cards was also made for the Butterfly Challenge #100 which includes different challenges for the letter "H." I haven't played in this challenge in a long, long time, so it was fun to enter a card into Valerie's 100th celebration. Here is the prompt for her challenge:

and here's my card...

I managed to include all of the requirements shown on the wheel, and although it's not my favorite card I've ever made, it was fun to take the challenge and use all the required elements. I also used the MB Darla and Vivienne butterfly die, using a piece of harvest gold striped dsp for the bottom layer, and added a top layer that was colored with a hot pink fluorescent Copic marker. I added a heart-shaped gemstone to the body, but there is also a heat-embossed panel of golden hearts at the top of the card. The hearts, along with the gold-heat-embossed sentiment are from a Clear Stamps set. The hexagon dsp is from SU! (retired) and the grassy border was done with a Sweet n Sassy die and a remnant strip of hunter green cardstock from my stash. The card base is powder pink with a snippet of soft suede. The top was done with a SU! scalloped border punch.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great weekend. All of you moms out there deserve a day of pampering and I sure hope each and every one of you gets it too!

Carol

Two so pretty cards Carol, they are just perfect for Darnell challenge and especially love the first one, so delicate and sweet with your handmade background! Great take of the Mrs. A challenge wheel on the second one, and the striped background of the butterfly is so creative! Well done on both!

Well done on managing to combine all of the elements onto your card. I love it. Yours is the fifth card to use all of the requirement and each one is so different in looks and taste. So nice to see you back in the garden and playing along. Thankyou for coming and spinning the wheel on this celebration challenge. Hugs Mrs A.

That butterfly is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Delicate and lovely!! Such a sweet dahlia background on your first card, and that little green sprig is just the right finishing touch for your card. I'd say that you've managed to make a fabulous card according to that wheel, too. So cool how that same butterfly looks so different on your second card -- love that! Thank you for joining us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev

So glad to see you creating. These are great. So many challenges right now that are asking for butterflies! These fill the bill perfectly.

Her eis hoping that the storms they have been yelling about, avoid us since the temps stayed cooler. It feels real good with low humidity.

Such pretty butterfly cards -- the first one is my favorite with it's beautiful pink floral background!

I'd love for you to link this up to the Cropstop blog where it's always "Anything Goes" as long as you use a product or two from one of the companies they carry in the store. (You did!)

I'm so happy to see you doing a bit of card artistry and challenge playing, Carol! I am really in love with your first card with that spun sugar stencil and stunning white vellum butterfly with the black body. It really looks like a photo from a real garden to me! And that sweet stem was a genius punctuation! Your card for Mrs. A really rocks all the points on the wheel~which was truly a challenging challenge! Take care and thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #5! Hugs, Darnell

Both are awesome, and I really like the pink stenciling behind the lacy butterfly. How different you've made this pretty die look with the honeycomb background and very clever of you to fit into Mrs A's Butterfly challenge as well. Good job on each card too! TFS & Hugs
