Using Designer Paper Snippets

I'm really trying to use up all of those snippets of old Christmas designer paper before buying anything new, so I came up with this simple design to make several cards. I cut the end of the strips with a hexagon punch to make the fishtails, then matted them with Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The sentiment is from SU! and the holly leaves are die-cuts from Poppystamps using snippets of dark green cardstock. I added 3 tiny red gemstones to finish the card. I'm entering this into the following challenges:

the Snippets Playground weeks #299  and 300 - must use snippets

CHNC #351 - a/g Christmas - option to use 3 different designer papers

CHNC Extra for September - a/g Christmas

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for Sept - use patterned paper

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone is enjoying this last weekend of summer. Have a fabulous day!

Your on a roll with these Christmas cards, Carol! I completely understand on using up all the older papers before buying more! I do not have anymore of this pack of paper left but the blue paper you used the other day, well....I have tons of it! LOL I saved those cards to my favs folder for inspiration! Anyways, this card is so nice and it's a great design for using up paper! TFS and I hope your enjoying the day! We are relaxing watching football. I guess you heard about Shawn. We are waiting to hear from his doctor on what to do next. Ughhh!

That is a great all around sketch, and the MC sentiment is a real beauty!

I like the matted banners and the strip across the front. It all works together so well.

I was shocked to pull out my Christmas designer paper and no scraps! None. A few pieces of 8x12 where I had cut off a 4" strip but no quarter sheets or other scraps. I wondered if in a moment of madness I tossed them all so I could start new (since like you I want to use up bits before cutting into full sheets and certainly before buying new things). I found them this weekend. I had put them in a bag with lots of red and green cardstock scraps for a Christmas card making thing I went to in July (that turned out to be a bust). I can't decide if I am happy or sad I found the scraps.

What a cool design. I like the bigger banners on this one. I've been using tiny strips/scraps for accent banners. Will have to try this larger size/layout.
