Watercolored Christmas Card

Here's my card for the Tuesday Morning Sketch #262 with a twist of watercolor. This one took a while to put together, but I really had fun with it. The background was done on watercolor paper using watercolor crayons and pencils. I used a ruler, and drew in thick and thin lines in a plaid pattern, then used an aquabrush to soften them and gently spread the colors. After it dried, I embossed the panel with a Sizzix plaid embossing folder. The image panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder on watercolor paper. I colored it with Derwent watercolor pencils and an aquabrush. I used a fine black marker to define the windows and doors on the houses, and added liquid applique for the snow, and silver stickles for the chimney smoke and ground snow. The mat and holly leaves were made with snippets of glittered green cardstock and Heartfelt Creations Holly dies, while the banner on the SU! chocolate striped ribbon was made with vanilla glittered cardstock. The berries are frosted pearls from Pizzazz Aplenty, and the sentiment is retired SU! I know the colors are non-traditional but I'm happy with the finished look.

I'm also sharing this over at the Snippets Playground #137.

Wishing you a wonderful day, and thank you for stopping by!

Carol

Ooh, the texture you achieved and love the image with all the snow. Liquid applique does a good job. Wonderful work on the background, too. Good going for this very pretty card, Carol.

Ver-RY nice. Lots of nifty techniques on this one. Love your crayon w/c background and the embossed effect. Great idea to color in the C/B embossing with the pencils too. I'm blown away by the liquid applique snow! Now that is just so well done, even down to the chimney smoke! Great card. TFS & Hugs
