A Rooster and a Zentangle

While purging my craft room, I recently found this rooster image I'd stamped eons ago and decided it was time to color it and use it. I have no idea who makes the stamp or where I stamped it, so it's a mystery :) I followed the Tuesday Morning Sketch #259 and added some feathers of assorted colors done with a MB wild feathers die. I cut 2 SB labels 18, one in a scrap of bright yellow, and one in white, and placed everything on a piece of dark teal card stock. The little doodads at the top were negatives from a SSS Pinpoint border die. I added some WOS highlights to each feather, but wish now that I'd just left them alone! I think I'll put a sentiment inside that says "You're something to crow about."

Here's my entry for the OWH sketch challenge #235. This is the first zentangle I've ever made and I have to admit, it was fun doing this! When I saw the tutorial on SCS, I thought I'd jump in and try making one. I used a SU! blended bloom image for the zentangle, and as per my usual style, I had to layer it with 2 different punched flowers using SU! punches. I used 2 more SU! itty bitty punches for the smaller flowers. The vertical black strip was embossed with a TCW mini tiny dots stencil. The script paper is from Bazzill Basics, while the yellow dsp is from DCWV. I added a few brads and called this one done. I may add a small sentiment later on, but I'm happy with this one being plain.

With all the snippets of paper used on these cards, I'm heading over to the Snippets Playground #135 to share them with all of my playmates!

Wishing you all a great Sunday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Carol

Just lovely! I am trying to figure out what I can do for that center dividing strip of paper between the two panels and I like your idea, thank you! :)

That is the nice looking rooster I've ever seen and I just love all your doo-dads to go along with him.
Your OWH card is outstanding. I love the zantagle (I have to admit I've never tried it either). The yellow and black are perfect together. Your script paper looks so pretty and just gives the whole card a special looks to it. Enjoy your day.

Okay, Carol, It's midmorning and I am still not awake yet...smile...I first read your title...Rooster with zentangle...LOL...so I'm looking for how you zentangled the rooster... (I need help...(smile) maybe I need to go on a vacation...:-( Not going to happen) My friends tell me since we're retired we're on vacation all the time!
Sorry about the rambling.
Your rooster card is really cute (and No it does NOT need to be zentangled! LOL! The inside sentiment is just perfect for your card.
Your zentangle is terrific. Hard to believe it's the first time you tried that technique! It's one that I enjoy doing too.
Hope you are having a great weekend!

I DO LOVE that bright rooster with the die feathers. Brillant use of the color on the mats and card base too. I liked the way the feathers looked too. Now on the Zentangle, I am blown away! What a fab job you did on this first try. I've bought some books, but never had the gumption to actually sit down and do one. I'll try to check the SCS link, and TFS that. Loved BOTH of these cards. Well done on each one. Hugs

Two great cards Carol! Strangely enough, I've also used that very same Rooster image - and it had been sent to me by a friend in the USA, but when I blogged it I was careful not to mention who and have since forgotten. I suspect it's one of our playmates though! And such a great idea to add the MB Wild Feathers (super to see you using those dies!).

LOVE the zentangling as well - super result!

Hugs, Di xx

How nifty! It's a great way to use some Zentangle art on a card and a fun color combo to boot!

I used to doodle all the time in meetings and classes and my doodles were a lot like Zentangles. Now that it is a "thing" I never do it. I should start again so I'd have pieces to add to my art!

I looked up the Zentange art and gave it a bit of a try, but you did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing your card!
