Unity Friends with Flair

I have two quilt cards I made for the Friday Unity Friends with Flair. I love playing with pieces of paper, making designs and shapes with them, and this is based on an Ohio Star quilt pattern. I used papers from the LilyBeeDesigns Double Dutch paper pad for this card. I punched 4 - 1" squares of each pattern and then cut each on the diagonal which gave me 8 of each color, then simply pieced them together to form a star. For the center I used a MS button punch, and cut a small circle of dsp for the center, then added a gold candi dot on a dimensional. I added a narrow strip of dsp to separate the embossing from the plain card stock, and stamped a Unity sentiment with Midnight Muse Ink.
One card wasn't enough, so I had to make another one.....

I switched this one up a bit, adding a fully embossed background done with a CB Decorative tile ef, and put the sentiment on a separate panel of matching dsp. All the papers are by MME Moments. The gorgeous flower in the center is from Pizzazz Aplenty and matches the blue color perfectly IRL. I just punched a small circle of matching dsp for the center using my owl punch. I used the same Unity sentiment as the first card. So tell me, which one do you prefer?

Wishing everyone a great weekend and I thank you all for taking time to stop by!

Carol

Wow! Carol, I love your star quilt design. Because you ask, I guess I like the first best. I think it is the patterned papers and the bottom of the card is so pretty. They're both winners!

Back to say, of course you know I love that polka dot flower on the last one. :-)

Both are great cards, Carol. I really like the look of quilt cards, and If I had to pick a favorite...It would be the second one, I thing the design with it's darker colors pops out a bit more. Very nicely done.

I love the pieced quilting look!!! When I saw the first card it was the only one on the screen and I thought WOW - bight and busy, but still fabulous and love the total design. Then I scrolled to the second and fell in love with the colors, and like how the embossing pattern matches the paper. Hmmm - can I vote for a third option - partial embossing with dp strip border like the first card and dp paper from the second, or am I being too difficult? {grin}

Carol - gorgeous cards! They look really time consuming, are they? I took a much needed day off and have been working away at some more of the chevron cards - I'm staying away from ink for awhile... :-) Good luck with the snow - I just wish it would warm up!

Awesome cards. I just made a quilt square - 4 1/2 total - with the first design for a Civil War Mini quilt.

They are both beautiful, Carol, truly! I like them equally, but it is amazing how the "feel" changes, depending. I see the top card as going on daughter's bed and the bottom card as going on the guest room bed. (Just a feel, you understand - just how they spoke to me, since I don't actually have either of those things.)

Wow! These are fantastic. I think I like the 2nd one the best. The embossing in the background is beautiful, and the papers are more subtle.

Gorgeous cards! I do like the first one best with the patterned papers-it really pops! I hope you don't mind if I pinned it on Pinterest (with your blogspot listed)- here is the link. If you want me to delete it, I will, but it is soooo pretty!

Absolutely love your quilt cards. You are an inspiration. Going right now to try a couple of my own. Minus 22 actual temp. Need a couple quilts to stay warm. Thank you.
