You probably wonder where I've been for the past couple days because I haven't posted a card since Friday. Here's a picture that pretty much explains it! We had a very large old tree in our back yard that was dead and we had to take it down. Click the photo and you'll see the guy who climbed that tree with spikes and a rope and took the whole thing down by himself in less than an hour! My husband and I did the cleanup by ourselves, and can I tell you we're both too old to do that kind of work now?! LOL I'm barely moving today but it was good to get outdoors and enjoy the gorgeous weather we've been having. At least we have a good supply of firewood for the time being.
Anyway, I found my way back to my crafting table to make a couple cards this afternoon while I was listening to the race.
Here's my take on the sketch. I know OWH is always requesting thank-you cards, so I used an older sentiment stamp from Hero Arts to make my card. The papers were given to me, so I'm unsure of the mfr. I punched 3 flowers with a Fiskars punch, adding lavender pearls to the centers, and used a SU! fancy scallop border punch. The sentiment was heat embossed with eggplant ep, and I added a piece of yellow gingham ribbon for the final touch.
Here's a card I made for the Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge #125 which is to use your favorite technique and explain what it is. I LOVE to emboss! Dry embossing or heat embossing - I love to do both on my cards, and this one includes both. I stamped the MFP Southwest Cowboy image on white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and embossed it with clear detail ep. I fussy cut the image and popped it up on foam tape. The blue background was done with an ef from the CB Hello Friend set. The red dsp panel is from BoBunny, and the kraft panel was embossed with a SU! square lattice ef. The sentiment is from the same MFP set and was also heat embossed, and I added 3 large gold brads for the finishing touch.
That's it for me today - I think I'll be hitting the sack early tonight after all that yard work! I'd definitely not make a good lumber jack! LOL Enjoy the coming week and thanks for stopping by :)

Fantastic cards! I love the colors and sentiment on the first one and those large gold brads are perfect on the second card!
I know how much work that must have been to get all that stacked up! That's one tall tree - and a very brave worker up there!
Great cards! The first is so pretty with the DP you used and I'm in total love with the second! Wow! Those colors, embossing, everything!

I love the embossing you did on the cards - both are great!
Very different cards...but each so perfectly put together. Love the paper selections. And I also am a huge fan of embossing!
So, that's where you've been. I was wondering. Whew! I'm sure you worked very hard cleaning the tree limbs, leaves, etc.
Your cards are super...love that cowboy and the wonderful embossing. Perfect paper panel.
Very nice cards you did a great job tfs!!!
Great card...really love the cheeriness of the first and the second one is pretty darn cool. Rest...TFS!!!
Carol, Two winners!!! I love the colors and flowers on your OWH card and I also love that sentiment. I had that one and let someone borrow it and have never seen it since. Your cowboy card is also very nice. Love the embossing and that paper. Your image looks great embossed and your cutting is spot on, as usual. Wow BIG tree!!! I know what you mean about being too old for this kind of stuff. We are feeling the same tonight.
Two great cards Carol! I really like how you added the scalloped edge to the sketch card...and such pretty papers. I think yellow, white and blue is such a striking combination.
Your embossed background looks fabulous. Thanks for joining Speedy Fox and Friends.
Having been there, done that...I know what a big job that is! Congrats to you and hubby for managing to get it done. Can't believe you had enough energy left to make 2 lovely cards afterwards! But it'll keep you nice and toasty this winter.

I sure was wondering where you were! Glad you don't have to worry about the tree anymore. Your first card made me giggle, because I too used the little yellow flowers on a card, yesterday! The embossing on the cowboy card is perfect!
At least you had amazing weather for your big project!
Great cards, Carol, I like the embossing. I'm enjoying this nice weather too, especially after that terrible hot weather we had this summer.
Carol--both of these cards are fantastic!!! Love that handsome cowboy! Thanks for playing along with us this week at Speedy Fox & Friends blog challenge!
Two great cards. I really like the sentiment on your first card. And Cowboys -- well I have a real love of the West -- thanks for sharing your creations.

Fantastic cards. Love the stripes and polka dots on the 1st one, and the colors. Love the criss cross embossing on the 2nd and the gold brad. Nice job!
Awesome cards. I especially like the cowboy one. I had some little rodeo boys. Love the different embossing folders you used and the paper you used. Thanks for joing us over at Speedy Fox and Friends.
