I have a friend who celebrates his birthday later in September, so I knew it was time to get busy and make him a card since this is the last day of August!
A friend shared a couple sheets of dsp with me years ago that has calendars on one side and the months of the year on the flip side, so I took a calendar month for Sept and used it as my focal image. I matted it with some rust-colored cardstock and placed it on a piece of SU! (r) dsp, adding a diagonal MFT stitched die-cut panel in chocolate brown. I added a few golden remnants from previous die-cutting along with a heat-embossed white birthday sentiment done with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I placed it all on a kraft card base and then circled the date of his birth with red ink

Oooh, I love this, Carol! I have a bunch of this paper, too (probably from the same friend, hehe) and never thought about using it like this! Thanks for sharing that idea! Love this fabulous card. Using the calendar as the focal piece was a great idea. Now I am thinking, I wish I had seen calendar DP somewhere. It made a great card.
