I was recently trying to use up some designer paper bits and I guess the patriotic bug hit me as we approach the July 4th Independence day celebration here in the USA. I went with the red, white and blue color scheme which are the colors of our nation's flag. I used a MFT quilt die to create this birthday card, adding a die-cut sentiment from Gina Marie Designs. I added the tiny fishtail banner with a heat-embossed "happy" done with white embossing powder. The star in the center was created with a retired SU! mini star punch and a die-cut negative from a star border by SSS that I've had for years. The person I sent this to is celebrating her birthday today.
I made a 2nd card with those SU! snippets of paper to create this card. I put the die-cut celebrate on the front and put a large "YOU" inside along with fireworks exploding in the sky. I made it for a friend of mine who's birthday is on July 4th, so she always loved the red, white and blue colors and especially loved that her birthday was on a national holiday and there were fireworks to celebrate each year. Sadly, she passed away 2 weeks ago just shy of her 82nd birthday, and exactly 2 months after her husband of 62 years passed. I'm sad that she won't get to see and enjoy her card this year, and even more sad that I lost a life-long friend, but I somehow find comfort in knowing she and her husband are together again in another realm.
I'm sharing the first card with the Colorful Options July 2023 challenge which is red, white, and blue.
Thanks for stopping by on this Sunday and I wish you all a great day.

Both are wonderful! Love that first one for a birthday card. The red, white, and blue for a July birthday is perfect. Great use of all the snippets too.
The second one is equally as pretty. So sorry about your friend. I had a friend with a birthday on July 4th also and she said when she was a little girl she always thought the parades and fireworks were only for her birthday!

So sorry for your loss. Gotta take comfort where you can xxx
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. These cards are a wonderful celebration of our country's birthday and a fun way to use up scraps.
The two red, white and blue quilted cards are just right for 4th July celebrations.
Such pretty cards, Carol! You always seem to make the best cards for all sorts of holidays and July 4th is no difference. I love the quilt pattern on these and the different sayings! Pretty papers, too! So sorry for the loss of your friend but I agree with you....take comfort in knowing she is back with her husband again. She would have loved this beautiful card, Carol. Thanks for sharing and I wish you a wonderful day ahead! Big hugs~
I love quilt cards Carol, but love them even more in our patriotic colors! These two quilt cards are gorgeous! They make lovely birthday cards! I'm so sorry your friend passed and won't see her gorgeous birthday card, but even more so, I'm sorry you lost a life long friend. Grief is never easy, but like you said, you are happy that she and her hubby are back together once again in another realm. Gorgeous cards!!! Big hugs, Brenda
Sorry for your loss Carol. This is a fabulous card, I will have to make this next year for my dad's 4th of July birthday!
So sorry for your loss, dear Carol. Surely you miss your friend but it could be a comfort knowing that death is only a door for another life. Her Soul is with her husband and with God, rest she in peace. I'm sure she could see your card and smiles from the sky for your sweet thought.
Both your cards look so beautiful and just perfect to celebrate 4th July, love the patterned papers choice and the cute stars in the centres. No waste at all with this double design! :)
Enjoy your day and those ahead the most as you can! Sending heartfelt hugs and love on your way!

WOW so beautiful, I love your gorgeous designing and pretty colours x
Great die cut so you can create more than one card by switching out the papers. Super patriotic cards.
So sorry for the loss of your friend! Since the same thing has happened to us recently ... I feel for you it is hard losing people you are close to. She would have really loved the beautiful card you made for her.
