Time Flies

Today I have a birthday card that took a total of 6 hours to create. Oy! I carefully cut several strips of designer paper snippets to create a herringbone background, then die-cut it with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle before embossing it with a CB Clockworks embossing folder. I also die-cut the card base with a larger Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. The Impression Obsession clock was die-cut from several colors, meticulously adding all the negatives into their corresponding slots to create the multi-colored clock. I mounted the clock onto a die-cut black circle, then attached it to the card. I added 2 die-cut mini butterflies and placed them on either side of the clock and  added a Studio Calico stamped sentiment. The only problem is, I stepped back to take a photo of it and realized I'd glued the clock image onto the card upside down! DERRR😖 My hubby looked at it and said "just send it, nobody will notice." The only problem with that is that I noticed and couldn't let it be. So I put it down for a day and gave it some thought. I decided to die-cut another clock and glue it right over top of the original one so that the time spent on this wouldn't be a total loss! That also explains why this card took so long to put together! I added some mini red gemstones to the butterflies and sentiment to give this a little sparkle. I put the birthday sentiment inside. At my age, time truly does fly - especially when you're spending so much time making ONE card! LOL

I'll share this with the following challenges:

The Snippets Playground #428 - must use snippets

Let's Squash It #20 - let's squash those scraps!

Can You Handle the Pressure - Must use an embossing folder
A/G with an optional twist of using flowers

Crafty Catz Challenge #595 - A/G with an optional twist of Masculine

Allsorts Challenge Week 676 - A/G add some sparkle

Seize the Birthday #238 - Faux or Real Stitching

Dies R Us Challenge #193 - A/G using dies sold in their store (I.O)

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for laughing with me at my oops! moment too! Life's too short to cry over mistakes. Better to laugh and move on, but hopefully the next card won't take so long to put together! 😄

Have a great day!
Carol

Wow, this is beautiful and what patience you have. That was a brilliant save too, by gluing a new clock over the old. Great card.

It is quite likely that the upside down error wouldn't have been noticed but I'm with you on this - I couldn't have left it either but well done for finding a reasonably quick solution rather than having to make the entire card again. So easily done though, just a small lapse in concentration and it all goes wrong 😉. The finished result is brilliant, love it.

Oh gosh . . . don't you just HATE it when that happens. I so dislike having to do something TWICE - especially if it was fiddly in the first place! I congratulate you on your perseverance and patience!

Thanks for submitting homework to the Snippets Playground. I think you might need a little pick-me-up at the Treehouse Bar . . . come and find me later! xxx

Such a fabulous card even with your oppsie, Carol! I think I agree with Butch that no one would have realized it but I love that you just diecut the clock to redo it and not started over! I love the background and the embossing that you did over top! It's definitely a "Carol Card" with that background! Well done, my friend! Hope your having a relaxing weekend! Our weather certainly is not the best but it sure is muggy! I think we are going from a very short lived spring season to summer this week!

What a great idea and retrieval Carol, after so many hours creating this wonderful and clever card it couldn't be anything else but add another layer. It looks so good too.

Six hours but the result is just awesome, Carol! Not only a very beautiful embossed herringbone background, so classy, but also two clocks for the price of one and a predictive sentiment! :D LOL
I admire your perseverance, it would have been a shame to leave the clock upside down even if it meant spending a lot of time again putting all the pieces in their correct places!! You have had a lot of patience and deserve a gold star! A great masculine design, with fabulous colours and textures!! There is nothing to say, it's really the work of a pro!!!
And I think the next card it will be a very quick one! :)
Hugs and laughters on your way, my friend!

Wow Carol this is so intricate - amazing ... and yes it's so frustrating when you spend so much time and then find a mistake - happens to all of us and then we have to get our thinking caps on!! Great rescue though - thanks so much for joining in with my challenge theme to "add some sparkle" at Allsorts this week.

Super card Carol, the result was worth all the extra time you had to spend on it. I love the clock, a good rescue to make sure the card was perfect. (I wouldn't have been able to send it either, knowing that the clock was upside down.)

Well, I really love this card! I like how you both used scraps in the background and then also embossed it. And the die cut clock is super cute. I like your solution of just putting another one over it. I have totally had my share of cards that take super long!

Stunning work of love! Inlay alone requires so much patience, but your pieced background is amazing as well. The whole a fabulous design. Thank you for joining the challenge at Allsorts this week.

Its sad that you had to make the clock again - but there, it happens and we just need to fix it! But the end result is just fabulous! I think all those hours were totally worth it. Gorgeous inlaid die cutting, gorgeous herringbone background, and spectacular card! Thank you so much for joining us at the Seize the Birthday challenge!

Fabulous herringbone quilt behind that beautiful clock, Carol - just love the patterns you combined (spotted at Let's Squash It!)!! I'm like you - would've driving me bonkers if my clock was upside down too - you had a great fix for it!

Claire said...

Oh dear! That's my trick and once its noticed it's no good because it'll have to be rectified. Why don't our men understand we can't just send it... honestly that's a universal response from them 😆

I love the card and although it took you 6 hours it really was worth it... its beautiful with so much attention to detail. The sentiment works so well with the clocks, nicely designed x

What a stunning card this is Carol - well done on the save! Why is it always right at the end of making a card something goes wrong? Sigh.

Beautiful card, Carol! I could relate to so much of what you have written here, Carol. I have made many cards that have taken me hours...(sometimes, almost days to complete) and Yes, I have also completed a card when I realize I glued something upside down. When I've done that...I just say to myself...well, that surely makes the card a one of a kind! (then I want to sit and cry a little!) smile!

Ooohh, Carol, what an utterly gorgeous card. Each elegant detail combines with the others superbly to create a real work of papercrafting art.

PS: Most of my papercrafting projects take 5 - 12+ hours a piece to create, so I can certainly relate to your opening and closing lines. :)
