Stenciled Birthday

I recently chose this Stencil Girl "Rooted in Nature Botanical" stencil as part of a prize package I won from Simon Says Stamp. I placed it on a white card base, and sponged distress inks of Coral, Marmalade and Amber. I used Memory Box Darla and Vivienne butterfly dies, and cut them in daffodil, orange, red, and early espresso - swapping negatives to make a colorful butterfly. The sentiment was heat-embossed on black with white ep and I used both SSS and SU! stamp sets combined to personalize this for a daughter's birthday card I was asked to make.

I'll enter this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is to use a stencil.

I'll also enter this into the Seize the Birthday #181 challenge - stencils

Have a happy Friday and a great weekend as well! Thanks for stopping by as always :)

I like your colour blending on the background, the colours look so pretty and summery to compliment the butterfly. Nice job with the paper piercing, I have this butterfly and it takes patience but such a great effect x

Pretty card, Carol. I went back to check when you started your blog. It looks like we may have started about the same time. It's been fun for me to look back so I may do some more reposting.

I just saw your comment on my carrot card. Thank you. Did I win something at SSS? I did just win at Art Impressions but didn’t see anything at SSS....

Wow!!! So different by your usual style, but really AWESOME! Such great effect you achieved with that stencilled background and the colourful inlaid butterfly!!! It's a true piece of Art! Well done on buying that stencil as part of your won (and congrats again for it!!) :) The black and white split sentiment is just perfect to compliment this fabulous card! The lucky recipient will be amazed!

That background caught my eye first because of the gorgeous colors. I think the butterfly is the centerpiece though with those stunning inlaid colors. Great card, Carol.

Wow, what a stunning card Carol! I am so loving that stencil and how you made it into a background for your butterfly to sit on. And speaking of butterflies, I am totally loving this one! The colors you have chosen for this card are so pretty, bright and cheery. I love how you did the sentiment as well. I'm sure the person who asked you to make a card is so happy with this one! Hugs, Brenda
