I borrowed this beautiful sailboat die from my stamping buddy, but didn't get the name of it, but as soon as I saw it I thought of a retirement card, so that's what I made. I began with a piece of watercolor paper and sponged it with lots of colors to create the background, then glued the die-cut right on top. All it needed was a simple sentiment but of course that smeared while stamping it, so I had to use plan B and make a sentiment panel to glue over the smudge. The sentiment is by SU! I'm real happy with the way this turned out and hopefully the recipient will be as well.
I'm sharing this with the Double D "silhouettes" Challenge which is to create a silhouette image.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start!

This is such a great scene! I love the die cut in black over your colorful background.
I think we are all experts at covering up sentiment mishaps! It happens so often and I would have never known if you hadn't mentioned it.
It's beautiful! Really does remind you of retirement - or at least what we'd like to do at that time in our life. Very peaceful looking and pretty. Great save by adding the sentiment panel too.

I almost got a die like this off Amazon awhile back but wasn't sure how'd I'd use it?! Now I just may have to get it next time I see it! Love the way you used it! Would make great masculine b-day cards too which I really seem to struggle with! Have a great weekend!
This is fabulous Carol, you have created a brilliant background for your super die - a lovely retirement card.

Oh this is the perfect ideal for retirement, just quietly sailing along somewhere peaceful. Fabulous card and great save. I haven't been visiting all week, but I just went through your posts for the week and they are all terrific cards. We were gone part of the week and have been trying to finish up our remodel the rest of the week. Space time hasn't been on my side this week. Wishing you a great weekend.
Ooooh, Carol, this is really brilliant as my British friends would say! I love everything about it and agree that it makes a perfect image for a retirement card! (When you see a sweet little sediment banner like this on someone's card, do you immediately wonder if it is covering up a boo-boo? You can rest assured if you see one on a card of mine, that's the case, lol! I rarely go to all that trouble otherwise!) Enjoy the weekend! Hugs, Darnell
This little sailboat seems to be a hit. You created a gorgeous background for it!
Just BEAUTIFUL Carol! Great job on the background coloring and I think you're right ... that was the perfect theme for this beautiful die! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Silhouettes’ challenge! We hope you’ll come back often.

Beautiful card! Amazing die cut and colors. "Happy retirement" is wishful thinking huh? ;) I'm just kidding!
Wow, your background inking turned out looking so real Carol! I love that die you used too, is great for a retirement card and I love it for a masculine card. I hope you cut extras ones to throw in the stash pile! Love, love, love! Hugs, Brenda
Okay, this card makes me want to go out and retire.... (or maybe that is just being at work that does that). Love it! Love it! Perfect blending of colors. That die is the bomb. Your card is so serene and relaxing. *sigh* Only 42 more years before I can retire, but who's counting?! ;-)
