December 25

I recently won this great stamp by playing along with the Snippets Playground. It's by Woodware and it's called "Christmas Date." I took one look at the stamp and it started screaming "paper piece me" so that's what I did. I used some red and green polka dot dsp along with a hunter green mat and a white card base. I paper-pieced the holly leaves and the "25," adding some green shiny mini button brads, and some embossed golden berries cut with a hole punch. I added some frosty stickles to the snow dots on the image panel along with some pastel green Copic color, then added some SU! die-cut snowflakes to the bottom with some Geo Sparkler stickers in the centers. I liked this so much I decided to make another one with a green background.

For this one, I used some Lawn Fawn Polka in the Dark papers in red and green, adding some light green Copic coloring to the background with some Diamond stickles to the snow flakes. I added a little distressing around the edges of the image, and added the same snowflakes and stickers as the first card but used some red button brads instead of green. I had so much fun paper piecing these cards, that I know I'll be making more in different colors throughout the year.
I'll be sharing these over at the Snippets Playground #212.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead!

Carol

It's a fab stamp and you've really showcased the versatility of it - it looks totally different using the two different sets of paper

Hum, straight lines or distressed, that is the question. I can't answer because I love them both. Paper Piecing was the perfect idea for creating these great cards. I can't wait to see other color combos on this one throughout the year. Enjoy your day.

I really like this stamp too and you've made two great cards with it. It does look really good paper pieced and so different in the opposite colour ways. I particularly like how you have distressed the image on the second card. Barbxx

Two great cards Carol! I love how they look pretty different just by using different papers and also the distressing. As you say, the stamp really does cry out to be paper pieced.

Very nicely done Christmas cards. Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques too.

And Yes, Carol, you did give me some die cuts from your SU top note...and it was a LONG time ago...smile. One of them you did in a quilted look using one of Your SU embossing folders. Does it ring a bell now?
