Oh Smudge!

I made this card from some leftover snippets of SU! retired cardstock along with a SSS wishing trees die, swapping the inserts with green dsp. I added 2 narrow strips of coordinating dsp to the top and bottom of the brown striped panel and finished it with a punched gold, glittered star to the top of the largest tree. The only thing left to do was stamp a sentiment that was a discouraging moment! A little line of ink showed up just beneath the word Merry........sigh. Don't you absolutely HATE when that happens after spending so much time creating a card?  I cut 3 shreds of the glittered gold paper and just randomly placed them carefully over the smudge and on the bottom panel to balance everything out. I was going for a masculine Christmas card, but I don't know if I achieved that or not with the glittered strips. Oh well, it's another card to add to my stash and no one will even realize there was a smudge there in the first place...........unless they read my blog :)

I'm entering this into the Jingle Belles December Christmas Challenge which is always "Christmas/Holidays".

The card was created with inspiration from the Crooked Stamper Sketch challenge #11.

It's also heading to the Happy Little Stampers December Christmas Challenge which has a theme of "Star."

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Carol, if you haven't said that the glittered strips have been put there for covering a mistake, I wouldn't ever imagined...!! They look really so well under the sentiment!!! :)
Love your design, I think it's perfect for male o female, it's so stylish!

Great 'save'! It really looks like you put the strips down on purpose too. You must be taking lessons from me on smudging! LOL! Love that die you used and the sketch is wonderful for it. A very pretty card Carol.

Great save! It totally looks like you meant to do that. And yes, it happens to me more than I care to mention.

Thanks for playing my CS sketch challenge!

No one would ever know you made a smudge. It looks like you put the glittered paper there intentionally. I really like the look and still think it is OK as a guy card. I thought I was the only one that made smudges. I think that is what I excel at. I'm the Queen of boo boo's so you can only get second place on this one girlfriend. LOL Have a wonderful Sunday.

I dub U queen of the inlays - this one is very fetching with the patterned paper. And yes, indeedy, I get that little 'edge smudge' where the rubber inked & I didn't catch it. Clever idea to fix it, and I shall remember this!! (I would have just cut some paper, restamped and added it as a big rectangle! Your fix is much prettier!) TFS

First of all, very cute card! And YES, drives me nuts when a little smudge occurs... it only happens when you have already assembled 99% of the project! But I actually adore your fix-- in fact, can't imagine your card without the strips!

Great card, Carol and what a clever save from the smudge. The streaks you placed look like skate marks on ice. You did a wonderful job!

Carol, I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I love the way you use snippets. This is a lovely card, and your smudge solution may not be masculine but sure is creative. :)

Lovely card, Carol. I really enjoyed your write up about the smudge...I do that all the time. Most of all...loved your solution!

This is really pretty. You came up with a good fix. I hate it when the greeting goes bad. Usually I restamp it, cut it out and foam tape it over the boo boo. I like your graphic strips as another way to hide the problem.

Are you kidding? Guys love glittered strips. They can envision making those with a big ol' glittered truck!! What an ingenious way to save your fantastic card, Carol!! Happy Holiday Hugs! Darnell
