My DGD's 10th Birthday Card

Here's a card I made for my DGD who recently turned 10. I tucked a few bills into the back pockets for her birthday gift before giving it to her. I used an old Coluzzle pocket template that I've had forever (anyone remember those?) and made 2 pockets. The card template was offered for free on SCS years ago and I still had it in my files. The card fold is at the top where I added a glittered gold "belt." Next was giving the jeans some stitches with a white Sharpie marker, and finishing the pockets with gold brads to look like the grommets. I used a snippet of red cardstock for the "label" and added a LOTV birthday sentiment with a punched star on a SNSS die cut ticket.

I thought she'd love this card, but she wasn't impressed at all......sigh. I tried :)

I'll be sharing this over at the Snippets Playground #206

Thanks and have a great day!

Carol

My first thought was the old pocket stamps, but the Coluzzle? I never used anything but regular shapes with mine (circles, ovals, etc.) I sill have the Coluzzle, too. :)

Oh, and 10-year-olds are fickle. Just wait until next year. :D

Oh Carol, this is brilliant! Kids do have that way don't they - I could be harsher but she is your DGD. I bet she liked the bills you tucked in though :)

It's a great card, and - with some jiggery-pokery could perhaps be CASE'd. Even without any templates or whatever - tee, hee, let's see who is daft enough to take up the challenge :)

Hugs

How could she not have been impressed. I love it and I'm OLD!!! Outstanding job with your stitching and I love the 10 on the pocket. I'm glad you kept that die in your file. Have a good day and just tell yourself how great others think (know) your card is even if it didn't impress your DGD.

So your GD wasn't impressed but I sure am! I love the butt design. This is too fun! Oddly enough, I just suggested a pocket themed swap.

Well, I'm sorry she wasn't impressed since it's as cute as can be!!! I'M impressed if that counts for anything. TOO cute and love the 'stitching' and that gold 'belt'.
I do still have the Coluzzle and actually used it not long ago (before getting the circle dies).

OMGosh, this is a fabulous card Carol! I love how it looks just like a pair of jeans. So cute! I can't believe it didn't impress your granddaughter. Sigh Oh well, it certainly impressed me. And I do remember the Coluzzle. Hugs, Brenda

Carol, this is so cute! (and creative!) Carol, I feel your pain, I have had some of the same reactions with my granddaughter (after spending many hours on a card, scrapbook etc) It hasn't stopped me from trying anyway. This past year she raved about the card I made for her and had to show it to all her friends. (Thought that would never happen! smile...)
