The Happy Little Stampers October Christmas Challenge is "poinsettia." For the background I used snippets from an Authentique paper pad and used them for the herringbone technique, only this time I left spaces between the strips, to allow the green card base to show through. The poinsettia was done with a SB die, and I added some gold paint pen color while the pieces were still in the dies. The center is a gold-embossed punched flower from SU! with a black gemstone from Pizzazz Aplenty in the center. The single leaf was a snippet that I heat embossed with gold and die cut. The sentiment is from SNSS, also embossed in gold. I used a Lil Inker stitched rectangle to add stitching around the edges for the final touch.
I'm also sharing this over at Pixies Snippets Playground #198
Thanks for checking in today and I hope your Monday is a great kick-off to a wonderful week.

You do that herringbone technique better than anyone in the world! Perfect mix of papers and so beautiful!

Hi Carol
thank you for entering the playground with this stunning card.
Your papers are perfectly placed and I love how you have used a gold pen for the poinsettia - very clever! (I thought that it was stamped!)

I was thinking of you and your herringbone techniques recently. I have some funky paper that seems pretty useless but this technique could redeem it. This is a great card! Love it!
Your use of leftover scraps is always stunning, you are a genius! And also very accurate! Every strip of paper is very well placed at the same distance by its neighbors!!
Love your poinsettia with the gold accents and the single leaf!
A gorgeous card Carol, such a fabulous background and beautiful Poinsettia.

Just beautiful and I like that you left spaces so that the green could show through. Wonderful idea to add the gold to the leaves. Just lovely. Enjoy the week ahead. It is gorgeous here today, but it will be cooling down a little bit this come week.
What a lovely poinsettia, and beautiful papers to make the patched background. I like the green base card showing between the strips.

LOVE this design. And what a great way to use up some snippets of patterned paper. Your poinsettia is beautifully shaped for lots of dimension, and the gold veins are so pretty. Thanks for playing along at Happy Little Stampers.

Oh, oh, oh, another Christmas quilt! Love the patterns, and the beautifully veined poinsettia. You KNEW I'd adore this one! I like the way you've let the bottom layer show through also. Gotta try this. TFS & Hugs
Yummy! Perfectly put together and stunning details!
What an awesome use of snippets and a perfect way to showcase this pretty poinsettia!
Wow!! This is SO COOL!! I love the different papers!! I attempt this and it always looks like a mess when I do it!! LOL!! I am not good at combining more than one paper to something! The poinsettia looks gorgeous with this!! Thanks for the inspiration!! :)
WOW! I love the herringbone effect. It makes a perfect background for the lovely poinsettia. xx
Your background must have taken ages to do! Well worth the time though as it is fabulous. A perfect backdrop for the poinsettia. Thanks so much for joining us at Happy Little Stampers.
