You're a Hoot!
I haven't played along with the MFP Speedy Fox and friends challenges in ages, but since I was recently gifted with a couple of MFP stamp sets (thanks Nancy!) I just had to play along. Their challenge #238 is to use an offset embossing folder - in other words, use an embossing folder differently. If you click the photo to enlarge, you'll see I embossed and paper pieced the owl's breast feathers. I colored the piece with Copics and embossed it with a SB M-bossabilities kickin' rubber folder, placing it into the portion of the folder that looks like road gravel between the foot prints. I wanted small random dots and that's the folder that closely resembled what I was looking for. I colored this little guy with Copics, and added some SU! candi dots, after cutting the panels with Lil Inker stitched rectangles.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day in spite of the cold. May I add that I'm very grateful that I don't live in Buffalo NY right now?! Those poor folks are buried in the white stuff and it's still snowing!! What will they do when winter gets here I wonder?! Yikes!

This is a great owl and he is even better because of the embossing. I think I really have to add those Lil Inker stitched die to my wish list. My boss's in-laws live in Buffalo and they are elderly so I feel real bad for them.
My boss actually makes arrangements with a snow plow person in August every year because he says "you never know when it (snow) will start". Even though I don't really mind the snow, 4+ feet is waaay too much. I'll enjoy my cold day along with you today.
Love the image and fab details.xxx
Well now, look at you with the winner, winner, chicken dinner going on! Congrats, and this little hoots is adorable. Love the stitched rectangles, and the textured chest.
Sensational owl!!! I love the embossing on his chest and your coloring is fabulous. Great way to use the offset embossing.
Buffalo really hasn't gotten hit by the snow. Hopefully it won't get over your way!

This owl is so lovely, Carol! I have seen the owl's peacing and the embossing feather, great work!
Your colouring is so beautiful and the stitched back frame looks great!
Great use of your embossing folder.
Very nice card and good luck in the challenge.
Worked great the owls breast looks feathery Glad you shared at MFP ............Lis
Hearing about Buffalo made me resent the few inches here a LOT less!
This is so very cool - the embossing really makes him pop!
Wow Carol, your owl looks amazing! I love the way you paper piece and embossed the breast feathers. His other feathers look great too. Yes, I am very happy I don't live in Buffalo or Watertown NY!!! My son lives in Watertown and they got hammered just like Buffalo. And it starts....look out next month Carol because I think that is supposed to be a heavy snow month for us. We will see, stay toasty warm my friend. Hugs, Brenda

Carol, I like how you used the embossing for the feathers. Nice technique! kReN
YAY Carol! You used him and you used him in an MFP Challenge - wonderful!!!! Your embossing on his feathers is so great - I would never have thought to do that. Great idea. Great coloring too. You did a great job on this card. I am super glad I don't live anywhere really cold or where it snows all the time - I feel for those people!!!
