Paper Weaving

I'm working on a box of Christmas cards for the Caring Hearts Card Drive, and decided to make use of those left-over strips of dsp that I can't bear to throw away. I wove them together for the background of this card! I die cut a piece of white with a SB labels 25, drawing around the inside of the die with a black marker before cutting. The mat was hand cut by tracing around the outside of the die and fussy cutting. I punched a couple ornaments using a SU! mini punch and strung them with silver stickers. The sentiment is from SU!

Here's another one I made with my all-time favorite SU! dsp - long-time retired Holiday Thyme. For this one I tore the edges for a different look, and made the strips a bit wider. I used some beige/grey bassill cardstock for the card base and SB labels 10, and used a PTI sentiment stamp, adding some tiny geo sparkler stickers to the ornaments and for dotting the "i". I hand drew the lines with a black marker to suspend the mini ornaments.

If you have any Christmas cards to spare, I hope you'll consider sending some to this worthy cause. They go to elderly nursing home residents, and I'm sure they're well received!

I'm sharing these over at the Snippets Playground #146 since they were both made with leftover scraps of dsp!

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Monday!

Carol

Both are gorgeous! the first one had a little more visual pop maybe because the ornaments mimick the papers? Thanks for reminding me of this technique!

Do you know that every time we use up snippets, someone smiles somewhere? It's true. I know our craft rooms let out a sigh! These are just lovely, Carol.

I really like both of these and the use of paper strips you. I saved a bunch of Halloween ones because they looked so cool together and thought about doing something like this. By the time I get around to doing it though I won't have any left... the cats steal a strip or two every night to wreck havoc with.
