Happy July 4th America! Today we celebrate our independence with fireworks, picnics, barbecues and parades. I made a couple more patriotic cards using little pictures I cut from a very old snippet of designer paper. This one has a little couple with a polka dot background, so I kept with the theme and used a matching polka dot dsp for the bottom piece. I used another picture of a patchwork heart, cut from another snippet of dsp. I added some red, white & blue twine, a few punched stars, a few sequin stars, and finished this off with an A Muse sentiment.
I went a bit overboard with this one and made a couple flag poles, adding mini banners done with a SU! banner punch and stamp set. I used lots of snippets, along with another image cut from the same dsp as above, adding shreds of cardstock twirled around a knitting needle to look like streamers. The flag pole tops were done with a SU! mini ornament punch on gold-embossed snippets of cardstock, and all the tiny stars were leftovers from previous die-cutting projects. The background dsp is also from SU!
To all of my American friends who celebrate, I wish you a very safe & happy July 4th weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
Carol

Wow! Carol, these are fabulous. I really love those curls of cardstock and the flagpole on the second card. You're really making good use of that dsp and I love those polka dots on the first card.
We're home today and may go to the river. Would like to get some pics if I can get close enough. Fireworks tonight. May or may not go. I sure hope you're having a grand 4th of July.
I adore this couple in your first card. Your stars within the stars are very nice also. The whole card came together nicely. Your second card just amazed me. The fact that you thought to use the ornaments for pole tops and wrapping the papers around the needle. Your mind never stops. My brain sucks up so much from your cards, just too bad I can't always remember everything I learn from you. LOL Enjoy your holiday.
Carol, both are great. I LOVE the flag poles on that second one and the cute little banners! Fun and cute.
Hope you have a great weekend too!

two lovely patriotic cards! My fave is the second, with the banners and swirls of paper! Happy 4th July! xxx
Happy 4th of July Carol! I hope you are picnicking and having a fabulous time with family and friends! I love both of your cards, they are so fun and patriotic! I love the layers they have and I love those cute curls you made for streamers, they look awesome! Hugs, Brenda
Wow! Both of these are so fantastic. I enjoyed reading the 'how-to' nearly as much as I enjoyed the pretty cards. Clever you to use those punches as you did on #2. Loved the stitching, and everything else on #1. Those were delicious vintage images from your dp & the polka dot at the bottom emphasized that in the image. Happy 4th. Ours was quiet, just enjoyed a few fireworks from the front porch. So July 4, 2014 is over & I wondered how many Americans thought about what it really meant? And the sacrifices that our forebears have made so that we can celebrate it still. I did! Bet you did too!
Two great 4th of July cards! Hope you are having a great holiday weekend!
Hope you had a wonderful 4th, my friend. Love them both, right down to the little curled streamers!
