For Maddy

Have you ever made a birthday card for a dog? I hadn't until now! LOL
This is an all-time, one-of-a-kind birthday card to celebrate the birthday of my friend & neighbor's dachshund Maddy. We had a few neighbors over yesterday morning to have coffee cake & coffee on the front porch since it was a beautiful morning, and during the conversation one neighbor mentioned her dog would be having a birthday this week. That set the wheels into motion and I couldn't let it alone until I finished the card! LOL We'll be picking up some special treats for her to help celebrate the occasion too! On their nightly walks, they often stop by to sit on the porch for a while, as Maddy starts running up our front yard, dragging them behind. lol My husband started giving her a little treat nibble when she gets here, so now it's become a ritual we all enjoy:) I remember my grandparents always sitting on the front porch with a big pitcher of iced tea or lemonade, and just chatting with neighbors and friends on warm summer nights. I'm glad to be doing that same thing and celebrating wonderful neighbors and friends whenever we can! It sure beats sitting in front of a tv!

This card was put together with all kinds of snippets, gems, clips, sequins, balloons, twine and a button on her hand-made hat. The stamped dog image was colored with Copics, clear detail heat embossed, and hand cut before placing on the SB die. The embossed background was done with a paw print Darice ef. The sentiment panel is actually a sticker I've had for eons.

It's a busy card, but it's fun and even though Maddy won't notice it, I know her owners will enjoy it :)

This is heading over to the Snippets Playgrond #131 where Parsnip just might find a new playmate!

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great Sunday!

Carol

Carol, this is just adorable and Maddy's "mom and dad" are sure to love that you made their "baby" a birthday card.

Oh, your time on the front porch chatting with neighbors sounds wonderful.

I'm sure Maddie will notice and probably give the card a lick. Fantastic coloring job with the precious dog face. I really enjoy hearing the story that goes with making this card and how you guys all get a chance to spend some nice quality time together on a regular basis. Enjoy your Sunday.

This is really cute! And Yes, I have made a card for a dog! But since you know me, you may not be surprised by that! LOL!

Oh how I miss sitting on the front porch talking to the neighbors going by, that was a highlight of my childhood. We lived with my grandparents whose house was close to the neighbor hood grocery store and post office. So we would see lots of neighbors walking by and get to chat.

This is a totally fun card! A birthday card for a dog--I love it! I went to a puppy shower for a new puppy once. I guess I should have had a kitten shower for our new kitten. Fun times!

Oh what fun Carol! And how lovely to have a front porch as a meeting place, in the UK we don't have such things which always strikes me as a shame when I see lovely films/images of US porches with swing seats and such.

Aww, this is a super cute card Carol!! I love the story behind it too. I wish I had a front porch to sit on as that is my favorite thing to do. Love that your husband gives treats to the birthday dog and it has become a regular thing. It's always good to visit with neighbors on a summer's evening! And yes, it is much better than sitting in front of the boob tube!! Hugs, Brenda
