I have a card today that I made for the Cards in Envy challenge "A Little Bit Retro." I won a really cool stamp set recently from JoAnn Ross's blog and used it to make this card. You can see a picture of the stamp set by clicking JoAnn's link above. The package wasn't out of my mailbox for an hour before I had this card put together - that's how much I love these stamps! My husband and I always used to frequent all the local muscle car shows whenever we could, and we still enjoy seeing the old cars like the "57 Chevy pictured on this card. My husband's cousin had a car exactly like this - a teal colored convertible - and he's regretted selling it for years!
I embossed the image on teal with silver ep, edging the SB Nestabilities labels 25 die with a silver paint pen before cutting. I did the same with the black background mat (SB Nestabilities labels 14), and embossed the smoky gray background with a CB diamondplate ef. For the final touch I added a checkered flag brad. I just love the fonts on the sentiment too and think they have a great retro look. Thanks & {hugs} JoAnn, I'm going to make oodles of cards with this fabulous stamp set!
Thanks for stopping by and I wish everyone a fabulous weekend!
Carol
Very cool card and very cool '57 chevy. Wouldn't we be stylin' in that ride? LOL
ReplyDeleteAren't stamps that you win so fun? My hubby just brought in the mail with a set I won. I'll go and tear into it.
Love that edging in silver - but really love that '57 Cheve!!!!! My boyfriend in high school had a red and white one just like this and I still think that was the only reason I liked that guy!!! Fun times.
ReplyDeleteLove your card! The teal is a great color too.
Congrats on that win!

Super card - and the stamp is fun. I've never heard the term 'muscle' car before but I think the equivalent here in Scotland is 'babe magnet' :)) Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteThis card is a total classic just like that fabulous car was and still is. Love the teal and the diamond background. Terrific card for any guy who likes his cars.
ReplyDeleteI wanted that stamp set! Glad that it found such a great home with you. Fantastic card, can't wait to see what other "classic" cards you come up with!

Super card Carol! Love the silver embossing and the diamond plate! Glad you won the stamp since it is definitely something you and your hubby love!
ReplyDeleteI got to take a peek at this last night, but it is finally quiet enough to sit and comment. When you told me that you won this set, I just knew it had found it's proper home. This is one fantastic card! It brings me back to my teen years and my many nights hanging out at Speck's drive-in. You used the perfect color. The ef looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove the '57 Chevy Convertible image! Our family use to have one too. If I remember correctly the radio had a button to scan different radio stations - very innovative for the time. Great embossed background as well. Thank you for joining us at Cards in Envy! ~ Marilyn

ReplyDeleteGreat card, Carol, brought back a lot memories for me too. We had a car like that 57 Chev, same color too. but it wasn't a convertible...my convertible was my 68 mustang convertible.
