Here's the sketch for this week's Retro Sketch #66 and I decided to make a Christmas card.
I've been using scraps of dsp and cardstock lately because the piles have simply become unmanageable! Does anyone else have that problem?! Right! I didn't think so! *grin*
This vanilla based card has some retired SU! dsp that I just loved and held onto, but now I'm going to let someone else enjoy it when this gets sent for Christmas. The dangling ornaments were done with a punch from SU!s Merry Minis punch pack, and I embossed them with gold ep before punching. They're attached with some glossy accents, natural twine, and were adorned with 3 red gems from Pizzazz Aplenty. The sentiment is from SU!'s Delightful Decorations and was also embossed in gold, and layered with matching cardstock using assorted circle punches. I kept this one simple so I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about what I was going to do. That always leads me to frustration and "nojo" moments as Darnell calls them ;)
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Monday is going well!

Very nice and the fact that you didn't spend a lot of time thinking about it is an added plus. I really like the way this one turned out. Those mini ornaments are so very special and I love how you layered your sentiment piece. Great job with this sketch.

PS I'm making grilled pork chops and grilled potato salad for supper. Michael made them on The chew last week.
Beautiful card, and great job with the sketch! Yes, I can relate in regard to the paper stash. I try to be very frugal and I hand on to my supplies and use as much as I can. But I had to do a big purge recently. There was just too much scrap and some of it, I think I hung on since the day I started making cards. Hope you are having a good week, Carol... And Congrats on the House Mouse win.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super Christmas card, Carol. Before I read about your dangling ornaments, I thought for sure they were metal. Great job embossing them.
ReplyDeleteI've sure had some of those 'nojo' moments. :-)
Great way to use that DP and your ornaments are so pretty. They look like they're some type of gold metal. Beautiful card for the holidays!

I so have this scrap problem and I am trying to use mine too - I have been trying a long time though and it doesn't seem to be shrinking - I think someone is sneaking in and putting more in there - LOL! This is wonderful - you definitely need to make more cards from scraps. Cute card! Hugz!
