As I watched the tragedy unfold yesterday, I found myself in complete awe of so many people who rushed immediately into the bombed areas to assist the injured and help others to safety. I'm grateful and thankful that you all reacted quickly and responsibly to help the injured, without even considering your own safety. Heroes do live among us, and I'm so proud of everyone who was able to respond in such a positive way.
My thoughts and prayers are with those families and individuals affected by yesterday's tragic events. An 8-year old boy was lost and his younger sister lost one of her legs, and their mother has been injured as well. All this as they proudly watched their father/husband cross the finish line at the marathon.
For those responsible, your fate has already been written.

That being said, I made a card to share with you today. I played along with the Sweet Stop SSS206 sketch challenge and made a card for my next box of OWH cards going to our "other" heroes serving overseas. In spite of the sadness, I wanted to make a card for happiness.
I used some snippets of Echo Park dsp along with a Darice stars ef to put this together. The stars were done with SU! and Punch-a-Bunch punches, and I added a happy face to the larger star. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp "Shoot for the Stars." I added 4 different colors of twine to the tag instead of ribbon, because it makes for flatter mailing and less postage. I'm also entering this into the Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground #68 since I used leftover snippets for all the elements on this card except for the background.
Here's the sketch...
And here is Heidi's April calendar that I'd completely forgotten to post. Sorry about that! It's been a very eventful month so far and I'm not on top of my game...
I just love those little boots under the work bench and especially that tiny windmill birdhouse! Thank you Heidi for the gift that keeps giving all year long :)
Thanks for dropping by, and I wish you all a happy day. Hold your loved ones a little closer today.

Well said, my friend. I just find myself in a complete state of nothingness since yesterday. I too have been up since early trying to make cards for our "other" heros. Love the smiling star on the one you created, and as always, Heidi's calendar page is a wonderful!
Very well said Carol. My daughter is a runner but has never been able to run fast enough to race in the Boston Marathon and for that I am grateful as she would have been there yesterday had she qualified. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were affected by this senseless horrific act.
Love your card with the tag. The different twines are really fun.
Heidi's calendars are always the most fabulous things. I enjoy seeing them.
Another tragedy in our country. I will never understand anyone who can inflict such sorrow and pain on another person. So much evil in our world.
Hi Carol, so needless and so tragic for those on the receiving end.
A great snippets card - love the ef you used and how you echoed the stars - a cheering make!
Hugs, Di xx
So sad! I just hope they find whoever is responsible for this horrible thing and punish them accordingly.
Your card is wonderful and happy! Love it.
Lynn
Love that you've posted such a cheery card - think we need that today.
And totally agree with your comments about Boston - such a senseless act.

I whole-heartedly agree with your sentiment at the top of your post, Carol! It's encouraging to know that when evil strikes, so many people are willing to put their lives on the line to help out. It's so sad that it takes such a tragedy for us to put aside our differences and join together.
That being said, your happy card is adorable and so thoughtful! Thanks so much for joining us at The Sweet Stop this week!
This is such a great card for the heroes card campaign! Loving the happy face star and the cheery colours!
