Challenge Cards

I made this card to meet several challenges.
Hero Arts January challenge to "try something new."
Perfect Sentiments PSC60 - birthday card with metal embellishment
{Pin}spirational Challenge #39 (photo inspiration)

The "something new" is this Hero Arts stamp called "Winter Trees" that I got just before Christmas and haven't had a chance to play with until now. Also, the Lawn Fawn trimmings are new, and I love the earthy, rustic look of that heavy twine that adds a real masculine look to this card. I used the colors from the {PIN}spirational photo for this card. I embossed the image using Ranger weathered wood distress ep and mounted it on ovals. The gold panel was embossed with a HA chevon ef and hand-cut to create 2 different panels. The gray panel was done with a MS arch lattice punch, and the metal embellishments are the 3 silver beads. The sentiment was computer generated and hand-cut.

And here is my card for the OWH Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #154.
I used some papers and twill from PTI in Ocean Tides colors - something I've had for ages and never used until now. It's a very pretty greenish-grey color that really had to grow on me, but I'm happy with the results now that it's finished. The sentiment is from MFP, the little white flowers were done with a Fiskars punch, and the white background was from a BG basics white paper pad. I finished with black mini brads and used SU! square and scalloped square punches to create all the squares, along with spellbinders circle dies.

That's it for me today - I wish you all a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!

Carol

Quick note before I head out. These two cards are just great. What a beautiful scene with that Winter Trees image. I love the gold and grey together and the twine and gems are the perfect final touches. Your OWH card is just stunning with that paper. I'm glad it grew on you. It's funny because I probably would have felt the same way about that color, but now that I see what you've done with it, I love it. Off to shop now. Have a great day.

Beautiful cards Carol. I love the gray, yellow and black in the first one. I bought that same stamp before Christmas too, but haven't had a chance to use it. I might have to CASE this one. I loved the colors in your OWH card right off the bat. I love all the layers and cute flowers... Oh, I love everything about both of them. Thanks for playing!

I really like the green-grey color on your second card and it doesn't even have to grow on me. :-) Very pretty card!!!

Beautiful work, Carol! You should be very proud of these two cards. The layering and textures on your first card are fantastic and I love the scalloped squares on card two. Such fun to see everyone's take on the sketch!

Two great cards! I like the way that Yellow just pops right off your card, and the nice soft look of the white flowers on the grey in your second card

Carol, both of these cards are gorgeous! I love the color combo on the 1st card and the embossing. I love the sketch of your 2nd card. I have some PTI Ocean Tides cardstock and have never opened it. I truely thought it would be more of a blue than the greenish-gray. I do love it on your card though! Nice job on both!!

Wow... I came over from the OWH blog to have a closer look at your wonderful sketch card, love it! The flowers in the small squares are a fun idea.

Your first card is gorgeous! I love how you've cut your dry embossed panel and used it again, the twine, the border punch, beautiful detail!
